Chapter 291: Breaking the Seal (2).

Chapter 291: Breaking the Seal (2).

Silence...

"You..."

Cain panicked, "Hear me out before you say anything." Seeing that she hadn't attacked yet, he quickly began to explain...

"This Seal is nothing more than that. A seal. However, it is a seal that can last for eternity as long as its prisoner is still loving. Which means it will continue to exist until the being it seals dies."

"I cannot die. It is impossible..." Lyx said, her cold, devilish voice traveling through the dark void.

"Yes... However, we can trick the magic circle into thinking like that..." Cain said, a dubious smile appearing on his face.

Lyx raised a brow, "Trick a magic circle?"

Cain nodded his head furiously, "Yes... On my home planet, we have something called a computer. A computer has a component called a processing unit. A magic circle is very similar to a computer."

"When a magical phenomenon occurs, it takes information from the spiritual world and relays it into the physical. That is basically what a computer does. It processes and relays information."

Cain paused for dramatic effect...

"However, there also exist some nasty little things called bugs. Bugs can disrupt a computer's normal processes, which can lead to a whole load of trouble when it comes to processing and or relaying information."

Cain then summoned the {Abhorrent Devil Enchanted Gloves}.

"What I am going to do, in essence, is create a bug. However, as I am too weak, it will be up to you to place it into the magic circle of the seal." Cain said, then heaved a heavy sigh afterward.

Silence...

Cain felt uncomfortable being stared down by the Primordial devil. However, he didn't expect what came from her mouth next,

"Those gloves... Who gave them to you?" Lyx said, her voice uncharacteristically soft.

Cain felt his tension rise as he spoke slowly,

"I didn't steal them or anything. It was given to me by a primordial devil called Og-Solath. He sent me on a quest and gave them to me to assist me."

Therewadmore unnerving silence for a while before she spoke again,

"Fine. If this doesn't work, I will not hesitate to destroy your soul and take your body for myself."

Cain felt his chest deflate as a majority of his tension washed away...

"Thank you." He said from the bottom of his heart.

'All that is left to do, is to create the bug.'

He already had the blueprint in his mind, and he could confirm that it was working. However, he had no idea if the effect he wanted it to have would be the same one it would have in reality.

The bug had only one purpose.

It had to seal the Seal...

Or rather, it had to seal the portion of the magic circle that siphoned the energy from Lyx. Even if it was for just a second, the other parts of the magic circle would go off and the part responsible for destroying it would kick in with immediate effect, breaking it apart in one fell swoop.

It was the theory of using a stone to kill a giant. Something small could be the weakness of something big. It all depended on how efficiently it was used...

All he needed to do now, was draw the magic circle...

He couldn't activate it like he could when he wanted to activate a skill. He had to physically etch it into reality. Just the thought of it was insane. Luckily for him, he had the gloves given to him by Og-Solath. One of its passive skills was its ability to apply its energy to any surface.

Which meant, in essence, it could be done. In reality, it was going to be a very challenging endeavor.

Taking a deep breath, he began. His mana churned wildly as he tried to push it into his arms. The streams of mana flowed like a river rushing downstream into his arms and into the gloves.

The white patterns on the glove lit up, and Cain could feel his mana being drained slowly...

However, he took it a step further and concentrated the gushing energy on the tip of his index finger...

He paled slightly when he began to feel a tremendous amount of pain coming from the finger. However, he continued without a word.

'Success!' Jou filled his heart when he realized the mana was now flowing all the way from his {Mana Heart} directly onto his index finger and back into his {Mana Heart}.

'Here goes nothing...'

Cain thought of the world around him as a surface. Something he could write on, as a painter thought of a canvas, or a sculptor thought a block of a slab of marble.

His eyes were closed shut and he recalled the image of the magic circle from memory.

Lyx, for the first time in a while, had her eyes open wide as she stared at Cain with bewilderment.

Slowly, he stretched his hand out and pointed forward with his gloved index finger. Then, his finger began tracing a complex pattern in the empty space.

A white line appeared every time his fingers passed. These white lines would either solidify to form fine white threads or would simply be dispelled.

Cain opened his eyes and frowned,

'What am I doing wrong?'

"You are using a wrong technique..." Cain suddenly heard a voice whispering in his ears. Funny enough, despite knowing it was a terrifying Primordial devil, he didn't seem to be too scared.

"If they are too thick, you will waste mana, and if they are too thin, they will be dispersed. Hence they cannot be created complacently. You have to find a middle ground. Calm the flow within..."

Cain took a deep breath as he listened to her advice...

He had noticed that anytime he activated a skill or spell, his mana gushed out violently. He had thought this was normal, and for the most part, it was. However, for what he wanted to do, it was not optimal.

If his mana was like a body of water, then when it rushed violently, waves were created. This caused the strength of the mana lines he drew to change drastically whenever the waves fell or rose.

What he needed to do, was calm the waves down...

Taking a deep breath, he directed his consciousness. Slowly, the turbulence in his energy flow subsided.

'Good...'

He attempted drawing the mana lines again, and this time, it worked perfectly... The thickness of the line was constant as he began tracing several patterns into the void.

It was a strange feeling. To have the world as your canvas where you could paint whatever you wanted. Cain was taken aback by how much he enjoyed it.

Cain continued tracing the image in his mind until he was finally done.

Opening his eyes, he got to witness something truly wonderful. Floating before him, was a small and delicate magic circle. To him, the magic circle was more tangible than any other magic circle he had manifested before.

{Congratulations to host... Your skill, {Seal}, has been upgraded to {Intermediate Seal}... }

{Your knowledge and skill in runecrafting has increased tremendously...}

{You have Leveled Up!}

(You have Leveled Up!}

{You have Leveled Up!}

Cain felt a tsunami of emotions...

'Keep it together! You can check them out later.'

Shaking his head, he immediately got back to business.

"Your Grace, as long as you can activate this, we can begin the plan. From here, it should be pretty straightforward..." Cain said.

"Hmm..." Lyx stared at the magic circle for a long while. She also stared at Cain. He had no idea what was going on in her mind.

He could only pray she could trust him. If she decided to refuse it, he would be in for a world of trouble. If it didn't work, or the situation somehow became worse, he would be as good as dead.

Hence, he could only leave the rest to fate as he had done his part already. He had tried to the best of his ability. If it wasn't enough, then he didn't know what else to do...

Suddenly, the magic circle began drifting away from him...

It continued flying away into the distance. Cain immediately let out a sigh of relief. This meant she was at least willing to try.

The magic circle traveled for a long time. Cain had no idea how long it traveled. This meant that The Primordial Devil of Death was actually located very far away. However, she still looked so enormous. Cain knew it wouldn't be unfair to think of her as a concept rather than a living being at this point.

Soon, he couldn't see the magic circle anymore, most likely because it had gotten too far away.

'Come on...'

Silence reigned for a while...

There was no movement in the void. No reactions whatsoever.

'Did it fail?!' A bad feeling suddenly arose in his heart, causing his expression to drop.

BOOM!

CRACK!

A loud boom followed by a sickening crack suddenly assaulted his eardrums. A terrible wave of heat suddenly rushed at him. Looking up, he could see several magic circles appear in the air as a giant flaming apparition materialized.

At the same time, radiant light shone through the darkness as an almost uncountable number of magic circles appeared beneath him in the void.

Gigantic metallic ballistae appeared with long bronze harpoons and spears mounted in them and suddenly appeared within the magic circles.

"My god..."

Cain watched in real time as the seemingly endless void around him crumbled to bits. Certain death was above and below, so there was nowhere for him to run to.

As the flame apparition descended, the bronze bolts cut through the inky blackness. However, they weren't fired at him. Instead, they were fired at the Lyx.

The beautiful and calm voice of the female devil suddenly resounded in his ears,

"Rubbish..."

He then heard a snap, and the crumbling world was turned into countless shards. The flame apparition was destroyed, the gigantic metallic bolts were snapped like twigs, and the previously unmoving silhouette of the Primordial Devil of Death stirred.

Cain suddenly felt compelled to close his eyes and fall into a deep slumber.

And that, he did...
