Chapter 420: Apologies.

Chapter 420: Apologies.

Cain had a look of confusion on his face...

The Beastwomen were all avoiding eye contact. They were behaving completely different to how they had been just a few hours ago.

The first one to speak up, was Sisi, who had been the only one unaffected by the enchantment,

"What we wanted to say is thank you. And sorry for the trouble..." She said as she bowed her head deeply. It was clear she felt a bit guilty for what happened to her friends and the others. Although the enchantment didn't affect their lives directly, being forced to see your friends being manipulated so obviously and being unable to do anything about it must have been very emotional ly tasking.

"Sisi... You don't have to apologize. We are the ones at fault here." Kai said. She turned to Cain and bowed her head slightly,

"Although we didn't intend to do it, the truth is we caused you and your comrades a lot of trouble. We apologize..."

Although she looked hesitant, Lin Lin also bowed her head,

"I'm sorry too. I think..."

Cain wanted to laugh, but seeing their genuine remorse made him unable to. Feeling a bit embarrassed, he turned to Susan and Jenny for help, but they didn't seem interested in coming to his aid at all. They seemed intent on letting him handle it on his own.

Eventually, he just let out a sigh,

"It's alright. It's all over now, so let's just put it behind us." He tried being casual about it.

However, there was no way it was going to end so easily. Roselle turned to Cain with a blank expression,

"No... How can you just forget about things like that? We endangered your life, as well as the lives of your comrades numerous times. It's only right we receive a fitting punishment."

Cain's brows twiched violently. Kai, Lin Lin, and the other Beastwomen glanced at her with pale faces.

Susan and Jenny also gave her questioning stares. However, she ignored all of them and stared straight at Cain.

Cain felt a cold sweat building up on his forehead,

'This girl... is too much!'

With no way out, Cain finally relented, "In that case, there is something I'd like you guys to do for me."

Roselle spoke calmly, "And that will be?"

Cain cleared his throat and spoke shamelessly,

"You, you and you... All three of you. You are going to be my minions from now on." He said, pointing at Roselle, Kai, and Lin Lin.

Lin Lin's eyes narrowed, "Minions? What does that mean?"

Cain grinned viscously, "It means I'll give orders and you have no choice but to follow. You three are very talented, so I don't think I'll be losing out at all."

Kai, and Lin Lin's faces squeezed up in panic, while Roselle's upper lip trembled,

"You..."

Cain threw her a side glance, "You can refuse, of course. But... that means you'll be going back on your words."

A hint of red appeared on Roselle's cheeks,

"That..."

Susan glared at Cain, "What kind of request is that?!"

"Eh? But she said..."

Even Jenny had a displeased look on her face as she turned away from him.

Roselle was silent for a while before she nodded reluctantly. Seeing her accept his proposal, Cain grinned widely.

Cain then turned to Jenny and Susan,

"Speaking of which... I think you both should join me as well. Of course, this will be your decision to make."

Susan and Jenny looked taken aback. The two beautiful girls had their eyes wide open like deers caught in headlamps.

"W-what are you trying to say, exactly?"

Jenny nearly tripped on her own words trying to word her sentence properly.

Susan cleared her throat, "So what you are trying to say is that you want to form a squad of your own, right?"

"Exactly..." Cain nodded. Then he continued,

"We have a lot of work to do. By assigning roles to different squads, we will be able to get things done more efficiently. Don't you agree?"

Roselle cleared her throat and nodded,

"That is a good idea. However, we have already created squads for rebuilding and Hunting."

Cain nodded, "We can make more Hunting Squads, or reorganize the already existing ones. As for the construction, people with earth or metal elemental magic would be the best candidates. For the Hunting Squads, I suggest they consist of those that do best on sea battles."

Susan's eyes lit up dramatically with light,

"I see..."

Cain grinned, "Let's wait until the other are ready."

Because of there was a limit to their stamina, it was only normal for the people working to take a break. As such, in just a few minutes, the sounds of people performing various tasks died down.

Hundreds of people, which included the Beastmen and women, the people that had followed them from the Northern Island, as well as Cain, and the others all sat down in the downstairs hall of one of the buildings that had been cleaned up.

Because most of the chair s had been destroyed by fallen rubble, or stampedes that might have occured, most people were forced to remain standing.

The hall was illuminated by numerous orbs of light summoned by Susan and Steve.

Cain stood at the front of the hall with many people around him. He wanted to make sure everyone had a say in y reformation that was about to happen.

Steve held onto Stan and Li's necks whilst grinning at Cain,

"We are brothers in suffering! We deserve to be together forever!"

Although his stats were focused more on magic, Steve's strength was nothing small,

"H-help m-me!" Li tried to beg for help, but he was left unheard in the rowdy hall until he was on the verge of passing out.

Stan was the same...

Cain rubbed his temples, 'What a headache...'

Right now, they were discussing the best possible way to create new squads to handle the various tasks going forward. He didn't want it to be something that would be done without taking everyone involved into account.

For example, having someone that didn't like battling Mutant Beasts on the Hunting Squads could lead to casualties if not managed correctly. Same way as having someone that preferring going hunting engage in the reconstruction work that would be going forward could lead to discontentment.

He turned to Susan and Jenny,

"What do you think?"

Susan turned to him with a frown, "Taking their input into consideration is fine. However, we have other things to do. The decision lies in your hands at the end of the day."

Cain looked unsure, "You think so?"

Jenny nodded in reply, then smiled coldly,

"A few people might be dissatisfied, but who in their right minds will say anything after what happened. They'll get over it eventually. You should also use this as an opportunity to stabilize your position as leader."

Cain never expected to heard something like that from Jenny. Sensing his strange gaze, she simply shrugged,

"What? Different times calls for different measures..."

Cain sighed, 'So intense...'

Eventually, he came to a decision.

Standing before the crowd he took a huge breath in. A sudden tension fell in the crowd, causing the murmurs to come to a screeching halt.

Cain got to the point right away,

"As you all know, the humans of the world are currently going through what can only be called an apocalypse..."

"All sorts of changes have been brought about thanks to this apocalypse. The changes can either send us all to the grave, or give us a new chance at life."

Cain paused for dramatic effect,

"Now that we have managed to find some semblance of order, structure needs to be established."

Every single one of them, human, or Beastperson, stared directly at Cain without blinking. The weight of his words were heavy, drawing the attention of others and keeping them in orbit.

"There are four main categories. Hunting, Construction, Maintenance, and Crafting. Each category will be divided into different squads that will be managed by an appointed leader."

"What we are here to do will be to divide all of us into respective squads. We will start with the Hunting Squads. Hunter..."

Hunter walked forward and turned to face the Beastmen,

"We Beastmen are the best candidates for Hunting. However, I will only be selecting those that are comfortable with sea battles, as well as those with keen senses, or those that possess the ability to fly."

Cain nodded, "There you go. Hunter and Vincent. You both will be in charge of this."

Hunter nodded, while Vincent grinned,

"Roger."

Cain thought about it for a while before turning to a fairly old man standing in the crowd. Standing beside him was a tall, somewhat beautiful woman oogling Stan's muscles.

"Old Man Ling... You'll be part of them. You as well." Cain said, pointing at the Old man and the woman.

The Old man looked puzzled, "Are you sure?"

Cain nodded, "You ability will be very useful. Besides, I trust you.'

The old man looked quite touched, but Cain didn't have time for sentiments.

"Then..."
