God Ash: Remnants of the fallen.

Chapter 486: A Black Demon, A White Angel, and A Crimson War God (2).

Chapter 486: A Black Demon, A White Angel, and A Crimson War God (2).

Since the dawn of humanity, there had always been a subtle connection between the sea and storms, such that the ancient humans had invented imaginary deities that ruled the two.

Saliors and fishermen were required to offer prayer and sacrifices to these beings that had the power to destroy them and their sources of livelihood.

Who could blame them?

Storms are a thing of dread, and coupled with the turbulent ocean could crush a man's body and spirit.

Right now, the salty sea breeze flowing across his figure, Cain was like a god that ruled the sea.

Sparks of electricity flowed around him, creating a ring of death around him. The people on the ship held their breath as they were forced to witness power unlike anything they had ever seen, coming from one human.

On the other hand, Cain was filled with panic.

'Crap, crap, crap!'

He had made a slight error in judgment. Controlling lightning was not as easy as controlling other elements.

By nature, lightning was very dangerous. So dangerous in fact, that a single bolt of it could contain millions of volts of electricity, and could be as hot, if not hotter than the surface of a star.

Right now, trying to control so much lightning was like trying to use a single cotten thread to lasso a wild bull the size of a bus. Quite tasking...

Steve, sensing something was wrong quickly approached Cain through the storm of mini lightning bolts. A shield of mana appeared around him, protecting him from the wild, aimless destruction.

"Cain, what's going on?!"

Cain gritted his teeth, "I... I can't control it."

Steve's eyes nearly popped out of his eye sockets,

"Fuck! If you can't control it, why the hell are you trying to use it?! Are you trying to kill us all?!"

Cain agreed wholeheartedly. It was indeed reckless. However, the time for caution had long since passed.

Cain shot him a glance, trying to keep the rapidly going out of control lightning, tame,

"Help me, would you?"

Steve sighed, "Transfer it to me. I'll handle the rest."

Although he was powerful, Cain had to concede that when it came to magic, Steve was just as capable, if not more capable than him on some fields.

Cain quickly placed his hand on Steve who had his eyes closed.

To make it easier for Steve, he tried his best to exert his utmost control on the lightning until it formed a single condensed orb.

The orb quickly traveled through his body and into Steve's.

Steve's closed eyes shot open. Their depths shone with lightning power.

"Incredible... Such pure lightning essence!" Steve exclaimed.

Cain breathed a sigh, "You can control it so well?"

What he had had a hard time controlling seemed like second nature to Steve. The lightning didn't spill out of his body, instead coiling around him like a barely restrained dragon.

Steve nodded, "I have a hundred percent affinity for the Lightning element, as well as more than twenty thousand points of control geared particularly towards elemental control.

Hearing Steve's words, Cain couldn't help but be taken aback,

"What the hell? That much? Are you some sort of hidden powerhouse?!"

Steve shot him a glare, his every movement rumbling with thunder,

"Like you are one to talk. The fact that you could keep something like this restrained for so long means your control is over ten thousand points. Not only that, but your physical stats are also monstrous. Compared to you, I'm as weak as a noodle!"

Cain shrugged, "That doesn't change the fact that you are amazing."

Steve grinned with pride, "Of course I am. What else would you expect?"

Cain smiled, "Well then, for being amazing, you'll need to cast an equally amazing spell."

Steve chuckled, "Just watch and learn, boss... I'll show you just how capable I am..."

With that, he twirled the staff in his hand and slammed the but of it against the deck.

A beam of lightning shot out of its tip and pierced through the dark clouds, dissapearing within.

With an arrogant smirk on his face, Steve began chanting. The clouds crackled with lightning bolts, and thunder rumbled in the sky.

On the island, the Lightslayers were shocked. Because of the layers of grey clouds that constantly blocked the sky, they hadn't seen a lock of sunlight or starlight in months. It hadn't rained in a while as well, meaning the absence of storm clouds.

So what did it mean, when a giant swirling storm clouds appeared in the sky out of the blue. There had been no warning at all. It had just happened.

The ocean seemed to respond to the turbulence in the sky as the waves carrying the Sea Mutants suddenly began to rise high.

The Sea Mutants immediately became twice as aggressively as they poured onto the island.

"Duck! Push them back! Push them- Ahh!"

The rising waves began pushing the Lightslayers back, sometimes drowning them, other times, dragging them off the island and into the ocean. Those who were dragged into the water were quickly torn to pieces, leaving behind only bloody foam.

It was a disaster, but the end had yet to come. This was just the prelude. A prelude to something truly frightening.

Cain's {Heavenly Blue Lightning} was a single target spell. Although it did have quite the splash damage, most of the damage was concentrated in a single area. Steve on the other hand had activated a spell that dispersed all of that Lightning power along a huge area, creating a storm on an apocalyptic level.

It inspired a primal fear in the hearts of the humans that dared gaze to the sky, putting a single thought in their heads,

'This was not the power of man, but the power of God!'

Steve's eyes sparkled with great power, as though a bonfire had been lit in his soul. His chanting had finally come to an end,

"Elemental Deluge: Storm God's Requiem!"

When it rains, it pours...

In this case, what fell from the heavens was not water droplets. Instead, there were thousands upon thousands of lightning bolts.

The air was immediately filled with destruction. The Sea Mutants didn't have the chance to understand what was happening before this deluge of lightning fell upon their heads like the rage of the sea gods.

The instant a bolt of lightning struck a Sea Mutant, its body quickly charred, its nerves frying in a split second. The only creatures strong enough to survive this storm were the {Sea Drakes} and creatures as strong as them.

Even then, they could only handle so much. Those that were smart enough quickly dove back into the water, while those that weren't were bombarded to death.

It was chaos...

The stench of scorched flesh filled Cain's nose, filling him with an indescribable feeling.

Steve turned to him, beads of sweat lining his forehead. Still, he sported a huge grin.

Cain turned around to stare at all the people behind him, completely human or not, it didn't matter. All of them were filled with an emotion that connected them together.

Cain raised his hand high, and in a loud voice, he cried,

"Attack!"

ROAR!

Battle roars of various intensities echoed out from their mouths as the first salvo of opening attacks came through.

Steve's attack had wiped out a very large portion of the oceanic beasts, allowing Gwendolyn to sail straight through the horde.

As she sailed, arrows, bullets, and magical spells came crashing down from her. The Sea Mutants that did manage to survive the first round were quickly it down.

With blood spilt, they feverously increased the tempo of their attacks. Cain called out to Ruby in his mind,

'Ruby!'

"Master!"

The beast came barreling from the lower part of the ship.

'Let's go!' Cain exclaimed with excitement.

Without wasting a breath, he jumped into Ruby's back cleanly,

"Melee fighters, with me!"

Jumping off the ship, a trail of frozen sea water was left behind as he made his way through the charred corpses.

"ARGHHHH!"

The Beastmen followed behind him with loud roars.

They followed behind him, cutting down any Sea Mutant that tried to stand in their path. The temporary ice path was quickly being drenched in blood.

Ruby galloped wildly, the wind carring her luxurious fur backwards. In Cain's hand was {Platinum Genesis}.

A {Deep Sea Marlin} suddenly shot out of the water, its pitch black eyes radiating madness and bloodlust.

The speed in which it broke through the water's surface was incredibly impressive. However, Cain didn't waste a single second. The blade in his hand turned into a streak of flexible light.

It met the Mutant Beast in the air, cutting through it in a single motion. Chunks of bloody Mutant Beast meat fell back into the water a second later. However, Cain had long since left the area, he didn't even hear the splash it made.

"Oi, wait up, Cain! Where are you going?!"

Cain turned around to see Blaze, Manny, Vincent, and Steve trailing right behind Ruby. Seeing Manny's aggrieved face as he carried Steve on his back made him burst out laughing.

"You guys decided to join the party after all, huh..."

Blaze snorted, "We aren't sore losers. Since you won, we decided it would only be fare to join you on this suicide campaign. Still..."

Cain could see on Blaze's face that he was surprised things were going well so far.

Cain nodded at him, "You have my thanks. Alright, let's go find that bastard together."

Cain's target was Guy and the followers of the Blood God. He could already guess that Evangeline and the others had already departed from the ship and we're on their way to hurting Lukas down.

Still, he had no idea that both targets had already met up with one another, and we're already engaged in a bloody dance.

Cain bent slightly and whispered something into Ruby's ear.

'Alright, Master! Finding someone so smelly won't be a problem.'

With a deft sidestep, Ruby dodged a large tentacle that cake from the deotsh of the ocean. Reacting quickly, Blaze's hand shot out, and stabbed forward. The spear released a lance of formless energy that pierced the qater and accurately strick down whatever creature the tentacle must have belonged to.

A second later, inky blue blood appeared on the surface...

Cain had tasked Ruby with locating Guy. After advancing to the first Tier, she had acquired a plethora of new abilities, one of them being a tracking ability as long as her target was within a certain range, she would be able to find them unfailingly.

Having already experienced the smell of a Blood Warrior, she would be able to locate them with little to no problems.

"What about the Beastmen?" Blaze suddenly asked.

"They'll be fine. Their task is to clean up. This will be a good opportunity for them to gain experience. This thing is sturdy, so they'll he safe for now." Cain said, referring to the ice path formed from {Frozen Paths}.

"Besides... The opponent we are about to face isn't something they can handle." He said, his expression dark like midnight.

The others said nothing, following behind him, their speed picking up gradually as they neared their target.
