Chapter 501: Island Rescue (6).

Chapter 501: Island Rescue (6).

'Sure enough, they aren't attacking us.' Leah thought to herself as he punched through the hard carapace of a Mutant Creature like it was made from straw.

Together with Roselle and Kai, and assistance from Lin Lin and Sisi, they tore through the Mutant Horde.

There were different types of mutant creatures in the horde, but most of them were shellfish. Those that were scaly fish had scales that were incredibly impervious to stabbing attacks.

Kai twirled with her white bone spear flashing, stabbing holes in the monsters surrounding her. Roselle methodically cut through the horde, wasting no movements and moving ike the sea breeze.

Together, they progressed through the thickest part of the horde, pushing through slowly but surely. They would have been overrun if not for the Lightslayers helping to clear out the Mutant Creatures assaulting from the front.

Rather than attack them, the Lightslayers were clearing a path for them.

"Odd... Very odd." Leah couldn't help but mumble under her breath.

"Leah!" Snapping out of it, Leah quickly dodged a razor-sharp pincher aimed at her head. Ducking under, she struck a gap in the exoskeleton under the outstretched limb.

A torrent of electricity gathered in her hands and exploded forward the moment she came in contact with the joint, causing it to pop right out its socket.

The creature, resembling a terrifying amalgam between an eel, a sea urchin, and a shellfish let out a crude shriek, but was silenced swiftly byab spell from Lin Lin who stood an a building in the distance, her face frigid.

They continued to press forward until they were dire before the wall. By now, they had should have killed more than a hundred Mutant Creatures.

"How are we going to get over?" Kai yelled over the loud stream of roars assaulting their ears.

They had managed to reach this point unscathed because Sisi had kept a shield on they at all times, continuously supplying it with mana. However, here at the wall was where the strongest of the Mutant Creatures were congregating. Should an exceptionally strong one encounter them, they might have the shield destroyed, and their bodies torn up shreds.

"Should we hold out?" Roselle said, her sword flashing as she cut clean through a Mutant Beast.

Leah nodded her head, "Lin could open a path for us, but that wiuld damage the wall. We wouldn't want that to happen."

Kai gritted her teeth, "Then what should we do now? My energy levels are going down fast."

Just as they were considering retreating, a shimmer of light enveloped them and all three of them disappeared.

"Shit!" Lin Lin exclaimed.

"Relax, Lin." Sisis said.

Lin Lin gritted her teeth, "How can I relax after seeing that?! They just disappeared!"

Sisi sighed and said resolutely, "The runes... The runes flashed before they disappeared. They are most likely behind the wall already. They weren't attacked again all this time. I believe they aren't in harm's way."

Lin Lin sighed. She agreed with what Sisi said, but she couldn't help but worry. Despite how dark and gloomy she seemed, she cared about these girls greatly. Should anything happen to them, there was no telling what she would do.

"Fine. Let's wait and see."

Suki stared at a section of the large stone wall. Standing before this section were three beautiful, but blood-clad women dressed in leather armor.

One was tall, and looked like a huntress with a white bone spear in her hand. Another was beautiful, with silvery hair and held two rapiers. Her eyes were cold, and seemed even colder with all the blood caked on her.

The last one was the definition of sexual allure. Her hair was black and flowed down her back like a river. Her eyes were a sensual yellow tint, and her pupils were a slit, like that of a cat. Her curves were almost feline, and every move of hers was like a predator stalking its prey.

One thing Suki was certain of staring at all three was that they weren't human... well, at least fully human.

'So this is how mutation affects humans...'

Suki had heard of mana mutating humans. However, she had never seen it before.

'They certainly don't look too different. However, they are all Tier 1.'

Suki suddenly began doubting her choice. She was currently the only Tier 1 behind these walls. And she had just invited three Tier 1's of unknown affiliations and intentions here. If they had ill intentions, she doubted she would be able to defend herself, not to speak of everyone else.

Still, risks were meant to be taken.

Leah stared down the Lightslayers pointing their weapons at her down with a blank face.

The one at the head of the group of Lightslayers, a short, petit girl dressed in droopy clothing with thick rimmed glasses hanging on her nose didn't seem like much, but she could tell she was Tier 1.

She was immediately on guard. However, that didn't stop her from remembering what she came here to do.

She took a step forward, "Who is the leader here?"

Suki also took a step forward, "That would be me. We saw that you made your way through the growing beast horde. Who are you, and where are you from? As humans, we didn't harm you as you arrived, but if you are enemies, we won't hesitate to take action."

Leah smiled, "Well, all I can say now is that we are not enemies. And if you want to live, you'd better listen to what we have to say."

Suki frowned, "Is that a threat?"

Leah shook her head, "Not a threat, but a warning..."

Before Suki could respond, one of the stronger Lightslayers yelled at them angrily,

"You women sure have a lot of guts coming here and spouting rubbish. We should take them away until Leader Lukas comes back."

"I agree..." Another one said, pointing his sword at them.

Leah and Roselle exchanged glances.

'Could it be that they misunderstood me?' Leah couldn't help but think to herself.

Just as she was about to clarify on her position, Suki suddenly cut the loud mumble short,

"That's enough! Until Lukas comes back, I am the acting leader." Although she was more powerful than these group of men, because of her small stature and somewhat timid nature, it was obvious they didn't take her very seriously.

Leah frowned, 'Looks like things won't be as simple as we thought.'

"With all due respect, these people are invaders. They've harmed a lot of us, and are probably like those blood bastards. I think we should kill them now." A Lightslayer dressed in light armor most likely gotten from the system store stared at the three Beastwomen with greed and lust burning in his eyes. It was clear as day what was going through his mind.

"How about I help you get rid of those eyes of yours instead? Wouldn't that be better?" Kai said menacingly. It was one thing to be threatened, and another thing entirely to be ogled at by an obvious pervert.

"See? That bitch doesn't even hesitate to threaten us on our own turf! Let's kill them!"

Seeing that things were getting out of hand, Suki waved her hand.

A magic circle appeared beneath her, and spired of stone rose up from the ground, encasing the people in the crowd who were the loudest. Trapped in coffins of stone, their faces were pale.

The ring leader, the middle-aged Lightslayer who had suggested she get rid of them first yelled out,

"W-what are you doing?! Do you want to kill us?!"

"Shut up." Suki said with a sigh, then she turned to Leah and the others.

"I'm sorry you had to see that."

Leah shook her head, "It doesn't matter."

"So... would you like to explain further why we should listen to you?" Suki asked cautiously.

Leah smiled, "Well, it's simple, really. There's a rather huge Mutant Creature beneath this island. It is planning to sink the island and devour everything on it."

The Lightslayers seemed taken aback.

Suki frowned, "Are you sure? That seems like a rather tall tale."

Leah shrugged, "Even I didn't believe it at first. But I'm sure you've been feeling the slight earthquakes on the island?"

Suki nodded, a bit absentmindedly.

Leah shook her head, "That's whatever horrid creature it is trying to sink the island."

"Sink an island? Can there be such a creature? Even if it is strong, tahg shouldn't be possible, right?"

Leah didn't say anything, allowing them to digest what she said.

After a few minutes, Suki turned back to stare at Leah,

"Then, you came here to tell us that?"

Leah shrugged helplessly,

"Well, the boss won't be pleased if we let you all die for nothing."

Suki sighed, "I see... But what are we going to do with this information? We have no way of getting so many people off the island. If we did, we would have left a long time ago."

Indeed, one problem that was becoming rampant in the new world was the issue of transportation.

While small machines like speedboats, and a few generators were still operational, things like large ships were not only not present in a place like a school, but we're most likely either unoperational, or destroyed.

Hearing her words, a grin spread on Leah's face,

"Well, don't worry. We have a ship."

Suki seemed surprised,

"A ship?!"

Meanwhile...

A hazy mist of blood was saturating the air, spreading through the island. And along with it were the ferocious Crimson Devils...

They were like a plague, slowly infecting the island.

Then, the island shook...
