Chapter 266 Impending Doom (Part 3)
?
"Fortunately, the Emperor must have recognized this issue long before anyone else did," Samuen continued his awe and respect for the Emperor coming through loud and clear in his words. "He had the foresight to establish the Academy as a proactive measure. ''
Actually, the Emperor was just a name they gave to the item holder who is the most powerful and only S-Rank in their world, and of course, he wasn't a real emperor.
A very long time ago, when there was still no S-Rank in the world, the logic of family and organization still persisted, and then, after this person named Valir finally became S-Rank, he used the power and authority he had to at least connect all of the families in Central City, which is the capital of the world. In addition to this, he established the Academy with the goal of imbuing future generations with greater knowledge and potential.
And not long after that, the entire world began to view him as an independent, authoritarian leader who was not connected to any family or organization. Due to the fact that he held the title of Fire Emperor, he was given the name Valir the Emperor.
Samuen continued by exclaiming with a sigh, "But alas, in spite of all his efforts, we were ultimately unsuccessful."
Unfortunately, the Emperor was still unable to stop the selfish behavior that all families are unable to give up, and despite all of his efforts, no other S-Rank item holder has emerged in their world over the past many years.
Elara's voice was tense as she asked, "So what will we do?"
If what was written in the diary they were reading turned out to be accurate, then the impending dangers that their world would soon face were going to be much greater than the Emperor could handle on his own, and it wouldn't be long before the chaos would ensue.
''What will we do?'' Samuen murmured as he rephrased the question.
After that, he stated it while maintaining a slight smile. "Continue reading, and you will find the answer to this question later on by yourselves."
With these words, everyone returned their attention to the diary Raydon was holding. It was true that the only way to find out how to save their world from the impending threat was to scour the historical records of another world that had dealt with the same threat in the past.
<In the end, our human race, which remained only a minority as a result of the invasion of creatures from other worlds in our world, made a decision that was right and logical for the first time in one hundred years, with the threat of extinction we face.
Putting aside any remnants of pride or egotism, all of the item holders, including the only S-Rank we had, came together in a concerted effort to combine our resources of power and knowledge in the interest of bolstering not only ourselves but also the generations that will come after us.
And we came to the conclusion that the simplest way to accomplish this is by exchanging the techniques we have so far discovered with one another.
And it didn't take long for us to see how wise this choice was.
As soon as everybody disclosed even the most insignificant information about their techniques, it became immediately apparent that these techniques had a significant flaws in them.
None of the techniques that we possessed actually constituted a complete technique, and each of them gave the impression that an attempt had been made to develop a new technique by combining elements of several existing techniques.>
''Flawed techniques? ''
When everyone had finished reading these lines, they turned to look at each other in a moment of sudden awareness and shock. They had no idea about this until Raydon brought it to their attention, and they were astounded to find out that the same issue had manifested itself as a problem in another world as well.
Armed with this newfound information, a sense of heightened awareness dawned upon each of them. They began to contemplate the possibility that not only their family but all item holders in their world might be using flawed techniques.
After being confronted with this reality, they decided to pay careful consideration to what was being said once more in the expectation of gaining insight into the reason.
<After learning this truth, we came to the conclusion that the wisdom crystals that we discovered in the fallen worlds were nothing more than the fragments of supreme techniques that the item holders who lived in those worlds had left behind. >
''Father? '' Arden exclaimed in disbelief, his eyes widening as he searched for a rational explanation for what he had just read.
''This is true. '' Samuen said in a low voice while pulling a palm-sized white glowing crystal from his dimensional storage and displaying it.
''Hm? '' Raydon was drawn to this crystal, and he assumed it to be the same one described in the diary.
''Oh, you probably have no idea what it is. Take a look. '' Samuen smiled and handed the crystal to him.
[Wisdom Crystal]
-Tier: Mid
-Skill: Use Wisdom
-This crystal contains knowledge of a particular movement technique.
'Is this how they learn their techniques?' Raydon pondered as he read the description of the item. Glancing at the expressions on the faces of the others, he quickly deduced that they were all well-acquainted with this particular item, leading him to believe that they had all used it before.
''Use it,'' Samuen said.
Raydon, who was similarly interested in discovering what kind of item it was, made the snap decision to use it right away.
''Use Wisdom. ''
Raydon suddenly felt lightheaded for a short while after saying the name of the skill that will activate the item, and he realized that there was a flow of information from the crystal to his brain.
'Oh, this looks like their half-assed movement technique, but this one looks even worse. ' Raydon thought.
