Chapter 19 - Re-trading
Chapter 19 - Re-trading
On the boat:
Earlier, the fish and shellfish that were caught had already rotted and were no longer edible. Yang Yi left only a single pufferfish with a cyst and returned everything else to the sea.
His remaining food consisted of 1 piece of black bread, 3 eyeball fish, and 38 vitality coconuts. There was still 1 litre of fresh water.
Yang Yi ate three eyeballs, then prepared a bottle of vitality coconut juice to regain his energy.
?Player Suna Requests to Board the Ship?
Yang Yi agreed without hesitation.
She boarded the ship from the stern and soon arrived at the cabin of the Nightmare.
At that moment, Yang Yi was mixing the drink.
“You can make potions?” Suna asked in surprise.
“Yes, I got a recipe on the island. You can mix salt and vitality coconuts to make vitality coconut juice. Want to try some?”
Yang Yi handed the freshly prepared vitality coconut juice to Suna. Since she had saved his life, giving her something in return was no problem.
Suna took it, examined it carefully, but did not drink it. Instead, she put it into her treasure bag.
“I saved your life, so I won’t take any supplies from your ship.”
Yang Yi suggested, “Drink the freshly made juice.”
Suna seemed a bit regretful.
She couldn’t see Yang Yi’s disappointed expression.
The Astrologer’s ship had very few supplies.
“Do you want to collaborate again?” Yang Yi proposed.
The storm at sea was severe. With their cooperation, they would have a much better chance of managing it. Additionally, the Astrologer’s ship could provide navigation charts, so they wouldn’t get lost in the storm.
“Sure!” Suna agreed, as she had the same idea.
Yang Yi left the cabin, and outside, the sky was covered in dark clouds. The howling wind mixed with seawater, causing the ship to sway continuously.
He didn’t plan to set off immediately as there were other urgent matters to attend to. He had been poisoned by a snake and urgently needed antidotes. Additionally, the spoils from the sea monster battle still needed to be collected!
He approached the Octopus Vending Machine and threw in the two sea monster corpses and a piece of snake skin.
?Name: Large Sea Serpent**?**
?Description: A cunning giant sea serpent, larger than ordinary pythons, enjoys torturing its prey. Can be put into the monster capsule machine.?
“Are you sure you don’t want to exchange that corpse for a capsule?” Yang Yi suddenly asked.
Suna still had a sea monster corpse in her treasure bag!
“No exchange!” Suna shook her head repeatedly, as if it were a rattle drum.
In her eyes, the corpse was very valuable – more than the capsule! Studying its physiological structure could provide the knowledge she wanted! Knowledge was much more precious than mere items!
Yang Yi shrugged and started spinning the machine’s wheel, causing the capsules to collide against each other.
Soon, three were ejected.
Suna stood behind Yang Yi, observing his actions and taking out a small notebook to record details:
“Yang Yi lives on a ghost ship with questionable mental health! His Vending Machine is a fearsome octopus head, and Yang Yi seems to like it…”
Yang Yi, unaware of being psychoanalysed, happily picked up the glowing items on the ground.
The first item was a can with a mermaid image on it.
?Name: Siren’s Voice?
?Type: Consumable?
?Quality: Good?
?Description: Contains a special gas that, when inhaled, emits a piercing shriek, causing surrounding creatures to enter a temporary state of paralysis and loss of reason. Inhaling it reduces sanity by 20. You’ve obtained the siren’s voice, but it seems you can’t sing…?
The second item was a blue crystal pendant.
?Name: Siren’s Tear?
?Type: Relic?
?Quality: Good?
?Description: Immunity to charm when worn. However, you will occasionally hear hallucinations, as if a siren is singing in your ear, causing a decrease in sanity.?
The third item was a short sword.
?Name: Sea Serpent’s Tooth?
?Type: Treasure?
?Quality: Good?
**?Description: **A short sword made from the tooth of a giant sea serpent. It has a mild paralysing effect and deals minor damage to demonic creatures. ?
Yang Yi had good luck getting two pieces of equipment and one weapon from the three capsules, which helped alleviate the awkward situation of having low output while the flintlock was cooling down.
As for the other two items…
Yang Yi considered selling or trading them. The Siren’s Tear was a powerful weapon against sirens, but since Yang Yi had a mad state that granted immunity, it was somewhat redundant. The charm effect would be quickly adapted to by someone with high sanity. The first time being charmed reduced sanity by 10, but later encounters would reduce it by only 5, making it less effective.
The Siren’s Voice was a good item, but Yang Yi urgently needed to recover from his injuries, so he reluctantly decided to trade it.
He immediately messaged the captain of the Radiant Goddess, Zhou Dai.
Yang Yi: “I need two bottles of holy water. Do you have any?”
There was a delay of several minutes before a reply came.
Zhou Dai: “To keep it short, I’m busy sailing right now and don’t have time to produce holy water. My current stock is limited!”
Yang Yi understood her meaning. It implied that there was stock, but the price would be high.
Yang Yi was prepared with enough bargaining chips, so he replied:
“Two bottles of vitality coconut juice, the Siren’s Tear, and the Siren’s Voice in exchange for two bottles of holy water.”
The response from Zhou Dai came much faster this time.
“You’re a male player, right? Did you manage to kill a siren?” She sounded incredulous.
After all, many male players had fallen to sirens, as seen in chat.
“I won’t shortchange you. At this price, I can give you three bottles of holy water. We can collaborate again in the future!”
The trade was quickly completed.
Yang Yi threw the items into the Octopus Vending Machine, and soon, three bottles of holy water appeared in his hands.
Yang Yi immediately drank one bottle and then handed another to Suna.
“You were right; that sea serpent was poisonous. Just in case, you should drink one bottle too. It can detoxify and heal.”
Suna took the holy water but did not drink it. Instead, she examined it carefully and then put it into her treasure bag.
“I told you to drink it, not to store it!” Yang Yi was annoyed. “If you’re not going to drink it, give it back to me!”
He was puzzled. Whether it was vitality coconut juice or holy water, this woman seemed to like putting everything into her treasure bag.
Suna was taken aback.
Seeing Yang Yi’s serious expression, she finally relented, opened the bottle, and drank the holy water.
“Spit it out if you’re just holding it in your mouth!”
Yang Yi noticed that Suna had not swallowed it and was only holding it in her mouth.
Suna frowned, looking somewhat displeased. After Yang Yi’s insistence, she reluctantly swallowed it.
“Open your mouth and let me see!”
“Ah.”
Suna complied and opened her mouth, seeming to have genuinely drunk it.
Yang Yi nodded.
In fact, Suna also had injuries, so this would help her recover faster.
Secretly, Suna took out a small notebook and began recording: Yang Yi was very fierce and liked to force others!
“What are you writing?” Yang Yi asked, coming over.
“Nothing!”
Suna kept her notebook hidden.
Seeing this, Yang Yi didn’t press further, respecting her privacy.
“Have you read the chat and announcements? Everyone is desperately fleeing this sea area. We need to escape too!”
Yang Yi judged the situation and inquired about the Astrologer’s ship details. Her ship was only level 1, 10 knots slower than the level 2 Nightmare.
They simply decided to use grappling hooks to bind the two ships together. This way, neither ship would fall behind.
“Help me with one more thing first.” Yang Yi pointed to the coconut trees, which were barely visible, with coconuts floating almost on the water.
“Let’s make a trip around the island and collect as many coconuts as we can. No lingering!”
Suna nodded in agreement.
Yang Yi wanted to collect as many as possible, however, doing it this way would save time.
The two ships circled the island, gathering 92 coconuts in total. The number was quite substantial, and Yang Yi was satisfied. He generously gave Suna half, so they each got 46 coconuts.
Including the 34 coconuts from his ship, the total was 126.
With this, Yang Yi wouldn’t have to worry about energy recovery for a while.
