Chapter 59 - Selling Sweaters
Chapter 59 - Selling Sweaters
The speed at which the island was sinking was faster than Yang Yi expected. By the following day, the island would have completely disappeared. Fortunately, the collection of spider corpses has already been completed.
The two of them gathered the spider silk into a pile, forming a small mountain.
Suna collected 517 units. Yang Yi collected much more, as all the spider silk in the lair was stored in his stomach pouch, and when emptied, it amounted to more than seven times Suna's, totaling 3,695 units.
Combined, the silk could make 42 sweaters or trousers.
If he made one more sweater and two more pairs of trousers, they would have four complete sets — two for each of them.
The remaining 39 could be sold for a profit.
However, before knitting, they could first try their luck with the vending machine, using the bodies of the two giant spiders.
Yang Yi was about to go to the deck for a spin when he noticed a pair of eyes staring intently at him.
"What’s up?" he asked Suna.
She hesitated, organising her thoughts, and after a few seconds, finally said, “In the cave, you saw something, right? Could you possibly draw it? It doesn't have to be the whole thing — just a part or a rough outline….”
She handed Yang Yi a pen and paper, her eyes filled with hope. She was bound to be disappointed.
Yang Yi’s drawing skills were still at an elementary school level, and he had little artistic ability. Asking him to draw those ancient symbols was akin to asking a newborn baby to recreate a QR code from memory.
It was simply impossible!
“I can’t draw it.” Yang Yi firmly refused and turned to leave, but Suna grabbed his arm.
“Tell me! I’ll reward you!” Suna tried to tempt him, tugging at her collar.
“Hah!” Yang Yi sneered, his gaze filled with disdain.
What did this woman take him for?
Livestock?
Utterly laughable!
He, Yang Yi, had a will as strong as steel; he wouldn’t be swayed by beauty!
He glanced over, feeling indifferent.
With a resigned sigh, Yang Yi took the pen and scribbled randomly on the paper, creating a mess of lines, very abstract. At a glance, it could resemble a spider.
He handed the drawing to Suna and quickly slipped out of the cabin to avoid further entanglement.
Suna held the crude drawing and looked at it.
Yang Yi wasted no time, heading straight for the vending machine.
He used a smelly, dried-up sardine as a payment, opened his stomach pouch, and took out a bottle of freshwater and the body parts of the giant spiders.
The water wasn’t for drinking, it was for washing his face.
He hadn’t washed in days, and his face was a bit grimy, which he reckoned would bring bad luck to the vending machine.
After cleaning his face, Yang Yi officially started his turns, inserting the body parts one by one and spinning the dial on the octopus-shaped vending machine’s chest.
Two unremarkable capsules popped out.
Yang Yi picked one up and checked it, overjoyed.
He had won something good!
?Name: Low-Level Craftsman Engraved Stone?
?Type: Consumable?
?Quality: Rare?
?Description: Can enhance the quality of treasures, upgrading any items of fine quality or below by one level. Your treasures will be renewed.?
The other reward wasn’t as impressive; it was an Armour Heart Protector, identical to the one Yang Yi had obtained before, so he could give it to Suna.

After finishing with the capsules, he returned to the cabin, and Suna had already gone back to the witch’s lab.
Since her sanity level was 72, he didn’t feel the need to rush her out.
He mixed himself a bottle of Vitality Coconut Smoothie and downed it in one go.
“Running low on salt?”
He noticed there was only 30g of salt and two bottles of the coconut smoothie left in stock.
Fortunately, he still had 54 vitality coconuts.
“Might as well buy some salt and make the rest of the vitality coconuts into smoothies.”
He left the cabin, moved the Nightmare Star to a relatively safe spot, and docked.
If the island didn’t sink, he planned to cut some wood before leaving.
If it sank, then so be it.
He browsed the chat channel, trading his machete for two bags of salt, totaling 1000g.
He actually liked the weapon, but its quality was too low — it was fine for chopping branches or people but wouldn’t stand a chance against a spider's carapace without breaking.
Yang Yi checked his stamina; it was down to 55, worn out from the day’s activities.
Each sweater or pair of trousers required 3 stamina points, so he could make a maximum of eight items.
If he pushed himself further, his stamina would drop below 30, risking unconsciousness — not worth it.
Two hours laters, he crafted more sets of clothes.
He put the price at 4,000 per set, which was roughly seven times the price of a down jacket (a down jacket costs about 600 Shell Coins, so two would be 1,200).
He started advertising in the chat.
“Fire Velvet sweaters and trousers sets! Check them out for yourself; two pieces per set, selling for 4,000 Shell Coins each, only four sets available!” He attached the stats of the outfits.
Just after he posted, a flood of private messages poured in.
“4,000 — did you add an extra zero? I’ll take it for 400 Shell Coins!”
“How about 2,000? A down jacket is only 600 each right now.”
“Just cold-resistant clothing, not a weapon. Sell it cheaper…”
Yang Yi skimmed a few messages, mostly lowballers, so he ignored them.
These people weren’t his target customers anyway. He wanted to sell to players doing well in the game. These players needed higher-grade equipment and would be willing to pay more.
Soon, his first customer appeared: Shen Guanquan, leader of the New World Fleet.
“Didn’t I tell you? Message me privately for good stuff. I’ll take all four sets!”
Yang Yi took a deep breath. The guy had to be doing well — buying with the air of a wealthy spender.
Money was money, and Yang Yi wasn’t about to turn it down.
The transaction was quickly completed, with 16,000 Shell Coins credited to his account.
Just after he sold out, more private messages from friends started coming in, including Captain Yu Zhiwei of the Iron Will and Captain Xu Da of the Swift Wind.
“Sold out. I’ll message you when I make more.”
After replying to each, Yang Yi called Suna back to the cabin and prepared to sleep, resting up for tomorrow’s plans.
Meanwhile, at the New World Fleet.
Shen Guanquan received the four sets of sweaters and trousers, keeping one for himself and planning to distribute the rest to his top crew.
“Old Shen, didn’t you overpay for these sweaters?” asked Captain Zhao Tietou of the Ironhead, a little distressed.
“You don’t understand! When the temperature drops and only these sweaters can keep you warm, then you’ll see their worth!”
“But if I just wear two padded coats, won’t it be the same? If it’s still cold, I’ll wear three.”
Shen Guanquan went silent, turning to Zhao Tietou with difficulty.
“Tietou, sometimes I think you’re actually pretty smart!”
“Of course! All thanks to your guidance!” Zhao Tietou scratched his head shyly.
“Fine, then we’ll do it your way! You won’t get the sweater and trousers — just wear two padded coats!”
With that, Shen Guanquan took the sweater to give to someone else, leaving Zhao Tietou chasing after him.
“No, Old Shen! I was wrong! I’d rather wear the sweater!”
