Chapter 462: Disappointing Afterlife

Chapter 462: Disappointing Afterlife

"Eat this drink. This is the extracted material of two chakra fruits. This will make you sufficiently strong enough to play with Ajax." He offered her a glass.

She did as asked. She was just hoping that this would allow her to be close to her son.

"Why the hell didn't Leonidas do this already? I got thousands of these fruits in the storage." He muttered.

"Yes, I need to ask him." She nodded spitefully and drank it. She waited for the effect. Suddenly a blue aura covered her and she felt herself getting stronger. Thankfully no third eye came out as Alexander had already made that modification.

"So, how are you feeling now?" He asked.

"I feel strong. Very strong," she replied and checked her hands.

"Well, go ahead and play with him now. I think he will be happy too." He advised.

Soon he saw the mother and son smiling widely. He had not thought about this effect of Ajax on his mother's mind.

"Boss, are we going to work again?" Dobby asked.

"Sure, let's go. Ask Ragnarok and Iroh if they want to come." He told him and went to tell Olivia.

...

Iroh didn't come. He said he needed to tend to his tea farm. Some phoenixes had been eating his tea without asking so he wanted to stand guard.

So, Alexander, Ragnarok, and Dobby came out. They looked around and except for a normal world, they saw nothing. There were normal buildings and cars, that was all.

"What are we supposed to do here?" Ragnarok asked.

"Umm, I am sure there must be something. I can feel there is spiritual energy in the air. In some places, it is more than normal." Alexander pointed out.

"Look, what's that?" Ragnarok pointed to the left.

"Hmm. that seems to be some kind of a corrupt spirit." Dobby deduced.

It was a giant figure with a skull-like mask and a dorsal fin on its back. Its shoulders and arms were plated with what appeared to be part of his mask, and his body was covered with dark gray stripes, resembling the scales of a fish.

"Let's catch it then," Alexander decided.

The three went to it and started holding it down. They were constantly trying to reason with it while not harming it at the start.

A distance from the three. A mother was walking with her small daughter.

"Momma, look, they are playing in the sand," the little girl pointed at them.

Her mother saw the three strange men jumping around in the park, catching invisible ghosts. She worriedly called the police.

"Mommy, it looks fun, can I play too?" the girl asked.

"No, sweetie, they are bad men, let's go away from here. Police uncle will catch them." her mother said and dragged her away.

Back where Alexander was fighting, he got tired of jumping around and simply threw some of his pure aura on the angry soul.

Soon, little by little the huge figure started shrinking, turning into an old crumbling man. The man looked around in confusion.

"Hey, soul, why don't you go to your realm?" Ragnarok asked.

The old man's spirit looked at him and felt danger, "I-I was looking for my son. He said he would come and take me away from the old age home."

"Do you know where they live?" Alexander asked.

The spirit shook its head. This was normal for spirits to lose their memory after passing away. Still, a small last wish left in their hearts could affect their afterlife. Just like what was happening now. The man probably didn't even know what his son looked like but he wanted to find him due to some promise.

"Do you know how you died?" Alexander asked, to which the spirit again denied.

Seeing no choice, Alexander looked into its mind. There he saw memories that were not accessible by the man anymore. He saw that the man died in a fire in his old age home. He had been waiting for his son for the past eight years. His son had left to work in the States and had not even called for more than a year.

*Sigh*

"Maybe you should go to the spirit realm now. If you linger in this world then you will turn into a vengeful spirit. You had already turned into one but I helped you." He revealed.

"Oh, I... Forgive me for this. But I do not know how to get there," the spirit answered.

Alexander and his two friends scratched their beards, "Hmm, that is a problem. Well, we will take you there, don't worry."

He took out his anywhere door and just vaguely set the destination to where spirits go to. He opened the door and told everyone to cross it.

*WHISTLE*

Alexander stopped and looked back. He saw a policeman running towards them at full speed. But Alexander just gave the man some advice, "Don't run or you will fall,"

He politely said that and left. Soon the door vanished as well. The policeman inspected the place where the pink door was.

~Hmm, I need to stop drinking. I'm still drunk from last night~ he thought to himself and left.

...

After Alexander was gone, two people in black kimonos and weirdly shaped swords appeared. They had a device in their hands.

"Hmm, where did the Hollow go? Denreishinki(Divine Messenger Machine) was showing it till not long ago." one of them said.

"This is weird, I can feel an extremely high amount of Reishi around this place. Also, hollows don't just disappear like this, even if someone caught them there still would have been a rampage. We should report this to the lieutenant." The other one said. They agreed and left.

...

Alexander closed the door and looked around. "Ah, this feels like we are in the Japanese Edo period."

"Yeah, except this place looks dirt poor. Look at their clothes, they are wearing rags." Ragnarok noticed. Everyone around them looked poor with tattered clothes and walked barefooted.

"Is this... hell?' the old man spirit they brought asked.

Alexander was also confused, ~What the hell is going on? Isn't the spiritual realm supposed to look natural and not like a slum?~

"Don't worry, old man, I will guide you through all this and make sure you live a good life," Alexander assured him.

"Boss, we are being watched," Dobby spoke suddenly,

Alexander looked around and really, many people were looking at them. He could already feel that they were just souls. He felt their malicious intent. So, he let out a small amount of his spiritual energy.

This scared all of them for some reason. To the point that they ran away without even looking back.

"Water, Water only for 5 Kan..." A hawker passed by them.

Ragnarok stopped him, "Oy, do you have something to eat?"

The hawker looked at Ragnarok as if he was asking a crazy question. Then suddenly the hawker bowed to him, "Forgive me, I do not have that. You must go to the frontal districts for food."

Alexander looked at him, "Which district is this, and what is the name of this place?"

"No one named this place. You are currently in the 70th district of South Rukongai. Please keep walking that way and you will reach the better districts." The hawker said and left.

"Well, we have a direction, let's go. We need to investigate this world. It seems this is not like the normal afterlife we thought it to be." Alexander spoke loudly.

...

Seireitei, 1st Division Barrack

Captain-Commander of the whole Gotei 13 sat alone in his office, meditating.

Yamamoto was the oldest captain in the Gotei 13. He had the appearance of an old man with red eyes, a very long white beard, and long eyebrows. There were many scars on his torso and head, the two most prominent being a pair of long scars crossing above his right eye.

His old face gave a feeling of control, peace, and all-knowing of his surroundings.

Currently, he was feeling the Reishi around the whole Soul Society. All was going fine until he felt like he was blinded by the huge amount of reishi when he looked beyond district 59 of South Rukongai.

His eyes jolted open in shock. ~What was that?~ he asked himself.

He immediately called his lieutenant and ordered someone to go and check that district.

He then looked at the view of soul society from his office, ~Troubles are brewing it seems.~

...

Alexander and his small party slowly crossed districts. The lesser the number, the better the living condition. That was what they understood.

"Hmm, there better be a castle made of gold in the center of all this crap," Ragnarok scoffed.

"Haha, still thinking about Gold," Dobby laughed.

"It's called a hobby, Dobby. I like collecting gold." Ragnarok clarified, making Alexander laugh.

"Yeah, a hobby that leads to making Mount Everest made of gold." Alexander japed.

Ragnarok just whistled and ignored his words.
