Chapter 248: 14-days Quarantine in Five Minutes

After Porto’s exit from the Europa League, they left the German hemisphere, but the Europa League continued in their absence with Inter Milan who had knocked them out going on to defeat Shakhtar Donetsk in the semi-finals of the competition.

However, they couldn’t go all the way and were defeated 3 -2 in a hard-fought final against Sevilla who triumphed and went on to lift the famous Europa League trophy.

All this happened while Jason was stuck in quarantine and unable to leave his private ward until it was confirmed that he didn’t exhibit any symptoms and was completely rid of the virus.

Luckily, his physique was a big help in resisting the virus and he hadn’t come down with anything so far, but after being locked up for a few days, that was the least of Jason’s problems.

Due to being injured, he wasn’t allowed to do any strenuous actions which included training, training, and training.

Unfortunately, the injury did not only inhibit Jason from training, but it also restricted him from doing the next best thing in this situation which was playing games aimlessly.

Some would argue that having an injured hand wouldn’t restrict one from having fun with games, but Jason as well as any other avid gamer would beg to differ.

One-handed mobile games were at best helpful in passing time and one could only play for so long before they became bored out of their minds.

Two-handed games on the other hand were what were actually qualified to be called games to such avid gamers and Jason was almost running out of his mind doing nothing but playing games like Subway Surfers, Temple Run, Railway Rush, and Jet Pack Joyride thanks to his injured and immobilized shoulder.

He had played a lot of other games, but these were the only ones he could play for more than an hour before feeling the urge to smash his phone against the wall after which he would switch to another game.

However, after three days in the hospital, Jason had had enough and began doing some non-strenuous training that would at best serve as physical conditioning for him.

In the last three days, he had made sure to note the intervals in between when he received visits from medical staff and after seeing that it was quite frequent, he began his sneaky training.

Luckily, there wasn’t a CCTV in the health center, so Jason didn’t have to worry about getting caught.

Over the days that slowly passed, the little bits of physical training here and there transformed into a full schedule of martial arts training for Jason.

Since he didn’t have access to a ball at the moment, he had first begun with just bare warm-ups and stretches on the first day of physical conditioning, which was also his third day at the health center.

After seeing that as long as he was careful, he could train the other parts of his body as long as he didn’t move too much and disturb his shoulder’s healing.

Starting with that in mind, Jason had gone on to add one-hand push-ups, squats, running on the spot, and a few jumps to his ‘physical conditioning’, but then Jason had noticed that thanks to his experience as a martial artist, he had a lot more control on his body than he had expected at the start of his training so it was easy to do some more training than he had expected.

Immediately realizing the use of his martial arts experience in maintaining his body’s balance and helping him to train his body even a bit more, Jason ended up making the decision to once again add martial arts training to his training regime to try and regain his peak martial skills as it was guaranteed that the benefits he would gain from doing this wouldn’t be small.

Hence why he was now doing martial arts training in his ward apart from the physical training aimed at conditioning his body and remaining match-fit for the coming season.

He didn’t know when he would be able to join the team again thanks to his injury, but the training he was doing here would help him in getting back on the team faster, and also help him to retain his place on the team if he could continue performing.

As the days passed by slowly for Jason in the hospital ward, the world outside hadn’t stopped moving for a single second and the football world was currently bustling with all kinds of news and transfer rumors due to the transfer season, the transfer season momentum not dampened by the previous lockdown in the slightest.

Transfer talks were going on in all parts of the world and Jason who was still stuck in quarantine wasn’t uninformed of the transfer deals and rumors going on in the world.

Kai Havertz who Jason had played against in his professional debut had moved to Chelsea with Bayer Leverkusen being able to get a sky-high price of about $95 million.

Ruben Dias who Jason had played against as well had also moved to the Premier League with Manchester City being the ones to secure his services for a high price of about $85 million.

There were also less talked about deals like Thomas Partey moving from Athletico Madrid to Arsenal for a price of $58 million, and Liverpool and Barcelona legend Luis Suarez moving to the Athletico Madrid side for reasons unknown to many.

Some thought he had had enough of Barcelona’s lack of continental qualification, or that he was looking for a more lucrative side that would pay him higher wages, but then that begged the question that why of all the teams he could move to had he chosen Athletico Madrid that was below Barcelona in every scale except defensive ability.

Nobody knew what was going on in ‘Vampire’ Suarez’s head when he switched clubs this late in his career, but people didn’t remain hung up on his choice for long as other news quickly swept his matter away.

There were talks about Manchester United wanting to acquire the services of Jadon Sancho, Alex Telles, Edinson Cavani, Donny Van de Beek, and even Jason himself.

Since he already knew about Manchester United’s transfer interest in him from the start, he wasn’t shocked at the news flowing around and he simply ignored the news and focused on his physical conditioning and martial training.

He had heard from Adele that she had been contacted by the Manchester side, and though they hadn’t made any offers or promises, they had set up a meeting with something in mind.

He didn’t know what the Manchester United side was thinking that they had contacted Adele, but he knew that there was no point in speculating as he hadn’t been informed by the Porto officials that the Manchester United side had made an official bid.

Whatever the Manchester United side had to say to Adele would probably throw a light on the whole situation, but until then, he didn’t need to waste any time speculating.

As Jason continued his training, he finally remembered the transfer news pertaining to his own club.

Alex Telles was already being courted by the Manchester United side and an official bid had already been submitted which Porto had accepted, thus it was almost certain that Telles was already gone.

Telles was not the only high-profile player who would be leaving the Porto side as Tiquiho Soares had already agreed on personal terms with Tianjin Teda and had already flown off to China for his medicals.

Vincent Aboubakar had also left the club and joined Besiktas on a free transfer, but as if that wasn’t enough, Fabio Silva and Ze Luis were also leaving the club which literally reduced Porto’s first team forwards from a robust number of four to only one.

Danilo Perreira had also received a loan offer from Paris Saint Germain, a top-flight team in France and he was pushing the club to accept the offer as he wanted to broaden his horizons on shores that were not Portuguese.

With all these transfers going on, it was already almost confirmed that the team would be undergoing a great change in line-up and even the team’s playing style would have to be adjusted to cater to the loss of valuable players and the new players who Porto were already working on bringing to the club.

So far, Jason had heard about the club’s moves to bring in Zaidu Sanusi who would potentially fill in the left-back position that Telles was going to leave vacant.

Sergio Conceicao was also going after Mehdi Taremi and Evanilson to fill in the spaces left by the team’s departed forwards.

There were also a few other deals going on, but Jason wasn’t curious enough to dig through all sorts of tabloids and media to find out about the club’s targets.

All he knew was that the team would be notified when a new player was added to the team roster and that was all that mattered, after all, just like in his matter with Manchester United, there was no point in speculating if the truth would sooner or later be revealed without him having to do anything.
