Chapter 47: Slaughter of Mortals
“Everyone, be careful. Hydra is just ahead!”
The hero Cadia said to his companions he was the outpost of the group.
As a demigod with the bloodline of the Pastoral God Pan, Cadia had a nose that was even more sensitive than a hunting dog. He had a broader field of vision than an eagle and a finer perception than a wild deer.
Hydra led many monsters to attack major city-states.
Now dozens of surrounding city-states had reached the most dangerous point, and the only way to win a chance of survival was to kill Hydra.
And if they could successfully hunt Hydra, the outstanding son of Typhon, the Father of the Hundred Demons, it would surely bring unprecedented fame and honor to themselves.
Cadia looked at Chiron, the oldest hero in the team, the half-man, and the half-horse.
This hero was the oldest demigod, born during the reign of the second-generation King of the Gods, Cronus, the descendant of Cronus, and a water nymph who was transformed into a horse.
Humans in past were not even the same group as humans today.
Because between the second and third generation of the divine court, Zeus, the King of Gods, had caused the great flood several times, ruining human beings and creating them again.
Because of his lofty seniority and extensive learning, many heroes had been taught by him, so all the heroes present took him as their leader.
Looking ahead, Chiron pondered for a moment and lowered his voice: “I originally disapproved of this action because Hydra is absolutely more terrible than you imagined. But since we have arrived here, we have no choice but to continue the action.”
“Cadia, you continue to serve as an outpost to inquire about the situation.”
“Prion, you take someone to outflank from the left.”
“Edos, you go to the right.”
After the command, the centaur Chiron looked at the remaining heroes and commanded, “The others follow me.”
Just as they started to plan, there was an icy chill in the distance.
Chiron’s face changed: “No, the monster found us!”
As soon as he finished speaking, there were several ugly-looking monsters with giant thorns and black hair, like bison, fiercely rushing toward them.
“Since that’s the case, let’s attack directly!”
The hero, Prion drew out his shield and short spear and charged at the incoming monster with a loud shout.
He was the descendant of the Sea Emperor Poseidon and a mortal, and he was born with extraordinary power.
The so-called heroes were demigods.
The descendants of gods and humans, although they did not have the priesthood and were not called gods, every demigod contained a great amount of divine power, and in terms of physical quality alone, many of them were even stronger than gods.
Prion was such a demigod, wielding a shield and a short spear, fighting the monsters in close quarters.
Soon the bison-like monster was hit, breaking the giant spikes on it.
He stuck the monster’s throat with his shield, stabbed his short spear into the opponent’s heart, and splashed the dirt with bright red blood.
The many heroes could not help but make joyful noises.
The ordinary armies of the major city-states that followed in the distance also shouted the name of Prion excitedly.
And at the same time, another hero, Edos, also tackled a monster.
He was a descendant of Ourea, the Lord of the Mountains, and had a rock-hard fist that easily crushed the monster’s head.
Seeing the successive victories of the two heroes, the generals and soldiers of the city-state alliance army stopped paying attention to hiding and shouted loudly.
Looking at such a scene, Chiron sighed.
As a veteran hero who had lived for thousands of years, he knew the horrors of powerful monsters too well.
Hydra with the nine heads was standing at the top of the monster, an existence comparable to a powerful god.
Trying to hunt this kind of hideous monster, Chiron’s army was so weak, and he was simply sending them to death.
He tried to persuade them, but the heroes were so high in morale that they simply ignored his words.
One by one, they drew their swords and headed inside to kill.
Oh, why don’t you understand that demigods are not real gods after all…
Chiron murmured worriedly.
Suddenly, a foul smell came from the front.
His face changed dramatically as he roared, “Everyone back away; this is a poisonous gas!”
“Hehe, it’s too late, humble bugs!”
An icy voice came from the depth of the woods, and a huge shadow covered the sky.
“O, God!”
The human soldiers looked up in fear.
The giant snake, as tall as a mountain, was covered in pitch-black scales and armor, with nine large heads emanating in bitter cold.
He was looking down on all mortals with hatred and lofty smile.
“Hydra!”
Several heroes roared up, and instead of being cowed by the Hydra’s huge size, they were all in high spirits, wielding their weapons to attack the giant hydra.
But as soon as they walked out of the woods, they collapsed to the ground one by one.
“Cadia!” “Prion!” “Edos!”
Chiron roared in grief and murmured in his mouth: Hydra’s authority is poison. Why are you so careless?
In fact, the descendants of top Main Gods, like Prion and Edos, were very powerful in battle.
It was not possible to threaten Hydra when he was fully charged.
But demigods were mortals, after all. Although they were powerful, they were not gods.
As long as you get hit, you will die soon.
Hydra was cunning enough to set a trap and use poison gas to easily take down his side’s top fighting force.
“Hey… Humble worms, die for me, all of you!”
Hydra’s eighteen eyes looked down coldly at the mortals on earth and suddenly launched an offensive.
Chiron gritted his teeth, took out his bow and arrow, and stood up to meet Hydra.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
In an instant, he shot out nine sharp arrows.
Each arrow landed precisely on Hydra’s body.
But even if he had the strength to lift boulders, bows and arrows were made by the best blacksmiths.
But before such a sharp arrow could land on Hydra’s body, it was shattered by majestic energy.
Mortal, you do have some skills. Without the priesthood, your divine power can only be hidden in your body, increasing the power of your physical body, and cannot be truly exerted.
Hydra’s eighteen cold pupils sneered, and the giant tail behind him swept up.
Boom!
A tree was swept off the ground.
Nearly thousands of allied troops of the major city-states were instantly crushed to death by the giant tail.
The surviving soldiers all fled away.
“O God, how can mortals fight against such monsters?”
The soldiers were horrified beyond belief.
Suddenly, dozens of hideous monsters rushed out of the woods and rushed toward them.
“Kill them for me, don’t leave any of them behind,” Hydra commanded icily.
“You demons!”
Chiron watched with grief and fury at the monsters who madly slaughtered mortals.
He hated his own uselessness after having lived thousands of years.
He had outlived many gods.
But he was never able to protect his people.
“Mortals, you are destined to be lowly worms, and the truly great beings will never care about you!”
Hydra spoke in a low voice.
“No, I believe that the gods will save us, and all of you demons will be imprisoned in the darkest Tartarus and suffer eternal torment!”
Some mortals struggled and shouted.
“You mean those hypocritical guys in Olympus?” All nine heads of Hydra let out a laugh at the same time.
“Haha, that’s a funny joke.”
“Do you think they care if you bugs live or die? You’re just toys for their entertainment.”
Chiron also lowered his head.
As a descendant of the second generation King of the Gods, who had lived thousands of years, he knew the face of the gods better than anyone else.
They were more cruel and more tyrannical than these monsters.
To expect salvation from them was simply fantasy.
“Haha, let me send you to your gods!”
Hydra’s nine heads roared wildly at the same time, and the suffocating aura spread thousands of miles in an instant.
His hideous head spread across the sky.
The earth trembled, and mortals in many city-states looked at the huge and ugly snake head in the sky in horror.
“O God, save us!”
They prayed and pleaded in fear.
“It’s useless.” Hydra sneered.
Just then, a brilliant flash of light surged across the sky.
