Chapter 1917: Nothing To Live For
An Lan was also extremely embarrassed.
How could she have forgotten about this, especially since they weren’t the only ones in the ward.
She tried her best to remain calm and composed. “Oh, no wonder. Do you want me to pour your urine for you?”
Xu Baohan braced himself and replied awkwardly, “no need, I’ll do it myself tomorrow morning.”
“I don’t think that’s a good idea. Putting it under the bed will smell, right?” An Lan’s imagination ran wild.
Xu Baohan clenched his fists. He felt his temple throbbing in pain again. He must have been angered by her. Didn’t she know that he would be embarrassed? Moreover, he didn’t want her to do such a thing. He was afraid that it would affect his image in her heart.
The old lady beside him laughed and said, “forget it, what’s there to be embarrassed about? It’s your girlfriend, not someone else. Sooner or later, she will become your wife. No matter how embarrassing it is, she will see it. There is no exception for her as well, especially when she is in labour. She has to rely on her husband to take care of her. A husband and a wife are suppose to rely on each other at times like this..”
“Can you stop talking about their matters and go back to sleep?” The old man yawned loudly. “You’re such a busybody.”
“I’m telling the truth.”
With the two of them interrupting each other, the atmosphere eased a little.
An Lan bent down and reached out for him. “Give it to me.”
Xu Baohan hesitantly handed her the urinal and lay down, looking as though he had nothing left to live for.
An Lan wanted to laugh when she saw him like this when she returned. Actually, the old lady’s words made sense.
There would be times when she would get sick and times when it would be inconvenient for her. Only when they had truly experienced it, would they be able to share hardships together, unlike some people who would run away after suffering.
“An Lan, go home and sleep,” Xu Baohan suddenly said in a low voice. “There’s no place to sleep here.”
It was enough to know that she didn’t go back earlier, but now he didn’t want her to stay and suffer all night.
“I can’t.” An Lan shook her head. “The doctor said that we have to be alert on the first night no matter what. Just in case of an emergency and you need someone to sign documents for you. I’ll just sit here.”
Xu Baohan glanced at the chair that didn’t even have a backrest and frowned. “You can sleep on the bed. We’ll squeeze a little. I’ll move more to the side.”
An Lan was embarrassed, her cheeks blushing slightly. “Your bed isn’t that spacious. Forget it, I’ll just sit here.”
There were other people in the ward, especially the old lady who was a busybody. The two of them spoke very softly and didn’t dare to say too much.
Xu Baohan was anxious, but there was nothing he could do.
An Lan didn’t sleep, so he felt bad and couldn’t fall asleep. An Lan sat until one in the morning, her back aching and her eyelids fighting. At two in the morning, she couldn’t take it anymore and climbs up the bed and curled up at the side to sleep. However, the air conditioner was on in the room and it was cold.
Xu Baohan leaned over and gently covered her with the blanket. The blanket had his body temperature and it felt warm.
An Lan couldn’t be bothered anymore and rolled into the blanket. When she was about to fall asleep, she thought gloomily that she should have laid down since the beginning. Why was she being so reserved? Anyway, this man would belong to her sooner or later.
...
The next day, An Lan was woken up by a doctor who came to check on her.
When she opened her eyes, there were three to four people standing in front of the bed. There were attending doctors, interns, and a bunch of people surrounding the bed.
Xu Baohan had already woken up and was doing ECG.
An Lan’s mind buzzed and she immediately sat up. Everyone’s gaze was on her. She pretended to be calm and composed, as though she had slept with this man countless times, so there was nothing to be nervous about, nothing to be shy about.
