Chapter 759: Were You Eavesdropping On Our Conversation?
“Lawyer An, let me send you off,” Luosang got up quickly.
Nian Junting frowned, displeased. Since when was it the job of his lady to send people off?
Luosang ignored his expression and held An Lan’s elbow as she walked her out of the office.
“Are you going make any accusations against me?” An Lan grinned and asked suspiciously, “Because of my trip to Yonghe Lama Temple with Mr. Nian when we were in Beijing?”
Luosang felt her face turn red with embarrassment, “Do I look that petty? I just wanted to thank you. You evidently have feelings for Junting, but you’ve spared no effort in helping me. Moreover, you never tried anything funny with Junting in Beijing. Instead, you cooperated with him for the performance. An Lan, I do quite admire you.”
“Stop it, I’m not as noble as you say.”
An Lan raised her hand and smiled suddenly, “I took up your case because Mr. Nian paid me a lot of money. It’s bought me a good reputation too. Many would gladly take up a case for Mr. Nian.”
Luosang shook her head, “I don’t think so, Lawyer An, you’re a good person. If it’s possible, I’d like to be friends with you.”
“Ah, but I might not want to be friends with you, watching you and Mr. Nian being in love. Being old and single, it’s likely that I’ll grow jealous,” An Lan slowed down, “You don’t have to send me from here, go back in quickly. You’re pregnant and if anything happens to you, Mr. Nian will be wanting answers from me.”
Luosang stopped and watched as An Lan walked away gracefully in her high heels, before returning to Nian Junting’s office.
As soon as she entered, she caught Nian Junting darting from behind the door, back towards his desk. He was pretending to have been walking around the office. “I’ve sat for too long, I’m just stretching my arms.”
“...”
Luosang tried to suppress her laughter, “Drop your act. Were you eavesdropping on our conversation?”
“What’s there to eavesdrop on in a conversation between two women?” Nian Junting said arrogantly, “I was just picking up something from the floor.”
“Let me see then,” Luosang walked forward to pry his hand open.
There was nothing in his palm.
Nian Junting could not maintain his expression and finally confessed, “I was afraid that you’d begin a fight with her from being jealous of what happened in Beijing.”
“Am I that kind of person?” Luo Sang said, “I quite like An Lan, I’d like to be friends with her.”
Like...
This word made Nian Junting immediately avert his gaze to glare at her, “What’s there to like? Liking me will be enough for you.”
“She’s a good woman.”
“I’ve never felt so,” Nian Junting said plainly, “Apart from the fact that she looks like a woman, what else about her is womanly?”
Luo Sang thought to herself, “How upset An Lan would be if she found out the person she liked did not even think of her as a woman?”
“I think she’s quite pretty and has a strong womanly character.” Luo Sang could not help but praise her. “She has a big heart and she’s generous. I want to be like her.”
Nian Junting answered without skipping a beat, “Stop whining. Look at how beautiful you are. How can you ever be like her? Unless you turn ugly yourself.”
“...”
Although Luo Sang was speechless, she felt quite blissful, having the person she loved praise her like this. “I’m talking about being a strong woman. I want to be like Lawyer An, making a name for herself in her industry. In this life, apart from love, one must dream too. I’m pregnant now, though.”
“I don’t object to you becoming a strong woman, but in front of me, you must be gentle. You must be gentle only for me.”
