Chapter 64: An Unexpected Visitor.
Jane remained in the hospital with Ella, she took a day off from work to make sure that her best friend was alright because she knew that Ella needed all the support she could muster if she wasn't going to relapse.
The fact that she turned to drugs without speaking to Jane first made Jane feel bad but she couldn't make this about her as there was a chance that it had nothing to do with her to begin with.
Jane didn't know what her friend was going through and didn't bother asking because if it was something that Ella wished for her to know, she would have told her.
Jane had no intention of forcing it out of her because there were certain battles one needed to conquer before they could talk about it, this was one of those.
The doctor already informed them that she should be good to go home today.
Jane couldn't sleep and remained awake beside her sleeping friend, Ella was getting the drugs pumped out of her system and thankfully, this didn't have any adverse effects.
"Hey…" Jane greeted a just waking Ella, Ella was getting a lot of sleep in. She couldn't share what was bothering her with Jane or it would ruin Jane's absolute trust in her or at least that's what she thought but maybe she didn't have to.
The fact that she went behind her back to talk to Kyle was proof of how desperate she was.
"Girl, you look like shit," Ella informed Jane and Jane couldn't help but chuckle.
"You're one to talk," Jane responded but silence followed soon after.
"Look Jane… I'm so-!" Ella was cut off by her friend before she could complete those words.
" It is fine… No, maybe it isn't and that's fine. You don't have to pretend to be alright, you never have to pretend," Jane said, pausing briefly as she held Ella's hand.
"Good or bad, I will always be there for you but don't deny me the honour of that, that's all I ask. I will sit in the mud with you but we do it together even if you cannot tell me what it is," Jane said but the usually put together Ella couldn't stay strong anymore.
She broke down in tears but it wasn't just her as Jane followed suit.
"Damn it! When did you become so good with words," Ella sobbed but Jane couldn't verbalize a response.
She didn't need to, at this moment Ella knew she had taken the wrong approach.
She still viewed Jane as someone she needed to take care of but Jane was no longer an incapable lady that couldn't handle herself.
"That was emotional," A voice said at the door, Jane immediately shot her head back because she recognized this voice.
"Mike?" Jane questioned, she didn't know why he was there considering she hadn't called him.
She looked at Ella but Ella was equally confused, she didn't call him either.
He had a flower in hand with a box of chocolate.
Mike came the moment he heard that Jane was taking a day off because Jane was in the hospital.
Everyone at her workplace knew who Ella was but no one knew about her struggle with addiction.
"I came as soon as I heard, how're you both holding up?" Mike asked.
Jane couldn't be mad at this gesture, it simply showed that he was supportive and quite frankly, she could use all the support she could get.
"I can't believe you came," Jane muttered with a look of disbelief.
"Of course I will, I have always been there for you," Mike responded but this made Ella arch a brow in suspicion.
She could tell that Mike was interested in Jane and there was no way in hell she was going to allow him to ruin Jane's relationship with Kyle.
That was the best man in the world as far as she was concerned because she was certain that by some miracle, Mike was to get Jane.
He would only ruin her because he wasn't the type to stay committed to a single lady.
Ella disliked him to the bone, he came with flowers and handed them to her, Ella had to pretend because even if she disliked him and he had an ulterior motive, he did come all the way here.
"How're you holding up? What did the doctor say was the problem?" Mike questioned her.
She looked alright from his point of view but that was to be expected considering her problem wasn't physical.
"I'm good Mike and it was just a little stomach ache," Ella responded, giving no room for him to further the conversation.
"You look as fit as a fiddle," Mike commented but Ella rolled her eyes in irritation.
Mike handed her the flowers and she immediately placed them on the side of the table as she watched him redirect his focus on Jane.
"You see what he's doing… Right, Jane?" Ella thought to herself, Mike was about to prey on her vulnerability.
It might look harmless now but there was no telling what effect this would have in the long run.
But before things could go any further, the most unexpected thing happened.
"Well, well, well. What do we have here?" A lady said.
Ella's eyes widened in horror as she subconsciously sat up from her bed.
Mike's attention completely shifted from Jane, focusing on the new specimen that just walked in. MVLeMpYr-original-content
She had on black lipsticks, if you thought Ella looked attractive, this woman was an upgraded version of her.
"S-sister!?" Ella coughed out and Mike couldn't believe how many beautiful women were in a room.
Jane grabbed Mike by the arm, startling the much bigger man as she guided him out of the room.
"Good to see you, Jane…" The majestic lady greeted but judging from Jane's facial terrified expression.
The feeling wasn't mutual.
"S-Same here, Cleopatra," Jane spoke like something was stuck in her throat but nonetheless.
This begged the question, who was Cleopatra and why was she here?
