Chapter 253: A friendly warning
The fat friar got the first shift with the ring much to nearly headless Nick's disappointment. All the ghost save for Helena were chased out of the workshop after that since Nick wanted to get the rings done as soon as possible. It honestly wouldn't take very long all things considered as he merely needed until a bit before dinner to finish making them. If it wasn't for the fact that the crafting style took awhile to slowly fill the entire vessel he could be done much faster. Still Nick turned on the furnace to warm it up and started to prepare the mithril for the fire.-
First he switched the furnace to cold fire and sent in an ingot of the stuff to melt it in the flames. Once done he funneled the liquid metal into the molds and waited for it to solidify. The remainder was set in an ingot mold to create a smaller but still usable ingot. It took about half an hour for the metal in the ring molds to solidify enough to be enchanted. Removing the first ring from the mold and setting it on the anvil Nick took out his hammer and got to work enchanting the ring.-
Three hours later he tiredly finished up the first ring and set it aside before eating some lembas bread and sitting down to meditate in order to restore his energy faster. While he was no longer completely drained of energy from a single intensive forging like this it did cost him nearly three quarters of his total energy. Considering his young age and ever increasing mastery of this method that was actually pretty impressive. Anyone else his age would likely fallout in a terrible condition if they attempted to use even a single word in their enchantment much like he did when he made Ohtar for Harry.-
The only reason he was able to create such potent enchantments was because of his abnormally powerful soul and large amounts of mana that both exceed his age by a wide margin. His control training with Helena had also proven useful for forging as he now increased his efficiency in channeling his spirit. This meant he now wasted even less spiritual energy when enchanting things and no longer glowed as intensely when forging. The glow he had was actually the energy he was unable to keep in check and as such dissipated into the atmosphere so with him having better and better efficiency it slowly vanished.-
Once he reached a certain level of control he will simply stop glowing altogether while he channels his spirit energy. As soon as he fully restored his energy and stamina Nick stood up and removed the second ring from the mold before setting it on the anvil. He then went to work enchanting this ring much like the previous one. Just like before it took him nearly three hours to complete the enchantment but it was finally done.-
Taking one of his body enhancement potions out of Greed he drank it and felt the warmth of his muscles improving by a small amount in a short period of time. He was still growing thanks to his young age so his current impressive physique was actually just the foundation for his future build. Unlike him though the muscles that Fred and George had from using the potion themselves were mostly superficial. Sure they were stronger than if they hadn't used the potion but they had prioritized appearance over function unlike Nick so while they also had strong physiques it was mostly just for show.-
The two ghosts waiting outside slightly impatiently were thrilled when Nick walked out of the workshop and tossed them both a ring each while confiscating the original Nazfea ring from nearly headless Nick. After that he headed to the great hall to eat dinner but was stopped by Dumbledore in the hallway. "I feel as though you should be warned that Cornelius will be arriving at Hogwarts tomorrow alongside a reporter from the daily prophet to interview you about your "resurrected ghost rings" as the students have taken to calling them." the old man said seriously.-
Nick nodded not surprised at all "I expected as much given the man's usual way of doing things. An event such as this is far too important for him to miss after all. That said I appreciate the warning none the less." he said politely before continuing his walk to the great hall. Dumbledore chose not to look a gift horse in the mouth and silently accept the small amount of improvement in opinion he got for this warning. Changing someone as stubborn as Nicks mind about someone was a slow and arduous process and he knew this and was more than happy to tread that path.
