Chapter 178: An Exorbitant Demand
Yun Xiangxiang quickly recovered. After smoothing out her emotions, she said with difficulty, “I was just surprised. I have only heard of the relationship between Teacher Hua Xiangrong and Ruo Feiqun.”
“It was the company’s fault,” He Wei regretted what had happened when he mentioned it. “They started dating because the company wanted publicity.”
Nobody knew this better than Yun Xiangxiang did. Hua Xiangrong and Ruo Feiqun were both rising stars at that time. Both joined the same variety show. There was no plan for a couple ship in the premiere of the show.
Everything started when Ruo Feiqun insisted on appearing in the show even when he had a bad case of the cold. Yun Xiangxiang admired that part of him. She would take care of him both consciously and subconsciously in the show.
When the show aired, the editing of the show made them look like a couple. Their popularity soared. Many among the audience were shipping the “Huaruo” ship. After the end of the five-episode run of the show, Ruo Feiqun would go on to have his concert, while Hua Xiangrong’s new drama started airing.
Wen Lan and Ruo Feiqun’s agent decided to hype them up as a couple as a way to maintain their popularity.
Hua Xiangrong was disgusted about this at that time. She wanted to refuse it, but she did not have the right to. Wen Lan and the company refused her refusal.
Of all people, Ruo Feiqun did not mind it, and Hua Xiangrong’s resistance was dismissed.
She only cooperated on the surface. In every public event, Ruo Feiqun was given the cold shoulder. Even so, Ruo Feiqun’s temper was kept under control. Thanks to that, more people fell for the gentle Ruo Feiqun, thinking that Hua Xiangrong saved the galaxy in her past life [1].
Hua Xiangrong had given Ruofeiqun the cold shoulder for a long time. Even so, Ruo Feiqun’s passion for her did not dwindle. He gave in to her every demand.
Nobody had shown her this depth of tolerance for her whole life. Especially when Ruo Feiqun came over as soon as possible during the times she was sick.
That was when they would go on to become a true couple.
“Don’t worry. I’m not going to do that kind of stuff to you,” He Wei misunderstood her concern when he saw how upset Yun Xiangxiang looked.
He Wei might not eschew the hype if it was done by someone else, but he couldn’t care less about it.
“I know. The actors that could be under Brother Wei’s wings are the ones who saved the galaxy,” Yun Xiangxiang had absolute trust in He Wei on this.
Wen Lan was a decent agent too. She might have forced Hua Xiangrong to be with Ruo Feiqun as a hype tactic, but it was for their mutual benefit.
Hype is nothing more than an act. It depended on the actor to detach themselves from their characters after the curtains are drawn.
Everyone had to stand out in the highly competitive Huan Yu Century Entertainment, no matter if it was Wen Lan or herself. At the very least, Wen Lan did not ask her to take shortcuts.
Huan Yu Century Entertainment had its fair share of staff who took shortcuts. It was just that the agents in Huan Yu dared not to coerce their actors to walk down the path of shortcuts.
Even so, if the actors were willing to do so, the agent would be glad to help them up.
Wen Lan was an expert in creating hype, but she prohibited anyone from taking advantage of her actors.
Whenever Hua Xiangrong came across such people in her past life, Wen Lan would stand up to defend her. She had always been grateful for Wen Lan.
“You don’t look like you saved the galaxy,” He Wei felt that something was wrong with Yun Xiangxiang, but he couldn’t put a finger on it.
“I’m just feeling sorry for Teacher Hua Xiangrong,” Yun Xiangxiang mumbled. “For losing out on Brother Jin.”
That was not what she thought. Hua Xiangrong could never be a couple with Lu Jin. Hua Xiangrong would be too self-conscious.
Lu Jin was different from Ruo Feiqun. Lu Jin was the legend of the entertainment industry, whom everyone looked up to. Ruo Feiqun and Hua Xiangrong came up together.
Hua Xiangrong had already given her all when she met Lu Jin. She couldn’t muster more effort to become better for another person.
With the cards she was dealt with, she couldn’t be courageous enough to accept a man who was flawless. Even if she did not contract any terminal illness.
She bade her past farewell in this life. With a brand-new figure, she met Song Mian in her best years.
Song Mian’s care was silently nourishing. She was willing to take the leap of faith because she had ten years to climb to the shining top and became worthy of him.
Hua Xiangrong was already a broken person. Yun Xiangxiang, on the other hand, was a blank slate. She had time to become perfect — flawless.
“There’s nothing to feel sorry for,” He Wei replied flatly. “They are destined to be parallels, to never meet.”
Lu Jin just happened to return at this point. After smoothing out her feelings, Yun Xiangxiang kept treating Lu Jin as usual.
When she heard the news of Hua Xiangrong being Lu Jin’s love, Yun Xiangxiang was dazed. However, she did not think she owed Lu Jin anything.
Hua Xiangrong had never flirted with Lu Jin since the beginning. Not to mention, Hua Xiangrong had already passed on at this point.
He Wei took Yun Xiangxiang to know some people after the fashion show. Some they had met during the charity banquet.
There were perks to showing up frequently. A few clothing brands’ representatives gave her their contact numbers.
When Yun Xiangxiang and He Wei were about to leave. An elite-looking man walked toward them and gave He Wei his business card.
“I am the Executive Assistant to the Vice President of S.V. My name is Richie,” Richie introduced himself politely. He continued, “Our company expresses its utmost desire to invite Ms. Yun Xiangxiang to be our ambassador in Asia.”
“Mr. Richie, you sure you are not kidding?” Yun Xiangxiang thought that it was too good to be true.
The world’s top haute couture brand invites me on their own just like that?
Yun Xiangxiang could not even afford S.V.’s clothes, let alone endorse it.
“Regrettably, this is not a joke,” Richie answered with humor. “Miss Yun, you can see our vice president right now.”
Yun Xiangxiang and He Wei looked at each other. They consulted Lu Jin, and decided to follow Richie back to S.V.’s company.
S.V.’s vice president was a young man called Enzo, who was in his mid-twenties. He was inexplicably passionate about Yun Xiangxiang.
When he was negotiating with He Wei, Yun Xiangxiang noticed the occasional inquisitive gaze from him.
Yun Xiangxiang finally understood. She suddenly piped up, “Mr. Enzo, if you want me as your ambassador, I want ten million dollars of endorsement fee a year.”
That shocking declaration made Lu Jin and He Wei stare incredulously at the smiling Yun Xiangxiang.
Enzo only frowned before nodding, “No problem at all.”
Lu Jin and He Wei looked at Enzo as if they saw horror personalized. However, they reached a silent conclusion too.
Yun Xiangxiang kept piling her exorbitant demand, “Then what if I want a ten-year contract?”
Enzo did not agree immediately this time. He answered indirectly, “We need to decide this through a conference.”
Yun Xiangxiang smiled. She stood up, “Mr. Enzo, I thank you for thinking so highly of me. I don’t think I can take on this job.”
He Wei and Lu Jin stood up too. Enzo quickly attempted persuading her, “Miss Yun, please give me some time!”
Yun Xiangxiang stopped in her tracks. She turned around to look at Enzo, “Mr. Enzo, please tell Mr. Lucifer this: Sow nothing, reap nothing.”
When a major brand asked her, a little celebrity, to be ambassador, and even gave in to her exorbitant demands, it was obvious that someone was behind them.
They did not even bat an eye when she asked for an annual fee of ten million dollars. Song Mian would not insult her like this. It could only be Lucifer, the stupid, rich man.
