Her Precious Baby

Chapter 146

Most importantly, her father had transferred all of Forrester Group’s shares to her mother as a birthday present back then.

Hence, logically, Angeline owned some of the shares, too.

She scrutinized the company building with a dark gaze. It was a three-story mansion with white walls stained with dust. At the same time, the greenery around the building was infested by weeds. There was no telling when was the last time someone managed it.

As she walked into the building, over ten staff greeted her in an extremely lazy manner.

Angeline’s expression instantly turned grim; she was extremely displeased.

“Has no one been managing this company? The staff behaves like they haven’t eaten their breakfast. I wouldn’t have come if I knew things were like that.”

Her reaction shocked the bodyguard. He never expected a harmless and weak woman like Angeline to be so strict.

However, when he thought of the higher-ups’ orders to give Angeline a proper welcome, he had no choice but to swallow his anger and explain with a smile, “You’re right. There was no one managing the company in the past. Naturally, they became a little lazy. Nonetheless, we’ve received news from the higher-ups that they’re going to reorganize the company.”

He then turned to the staff and barked, “Greet her again!”

Hearing that, the staff hurriedly stood up straight and greeted at the top of their lungs, “Welcome, Ms. Sorelle!”

This time, they sounded more energetic.

Regardless, disdain was written all over their faces. One of the elderly men even cleaned his eyes on the spot. It was a disrespectful sight.

Once she saw that, her expression turned cold, which gave her the vibe of an unapproachable person.

Only she knew how exasperated she felt at that moment.

Her mother graduated from a fashion school. She had practically poured all her heart and soul onto Forrester Group. In fact, all her designs turned out to be the hottest item on sale every season.

She’ll be so disappointed if she finds out what Forrester Group has turned into.

Soon, Angeline arrived at the live-streaming room on the third floor under the bodyguard’s guidance. The equipment was fixed, and several racks were placed around the room with rows of clothes from that season displayed on them.

“Ms. Sorelle, the live stream starts at ten o’clock and will last for two hours. You’ll need to show the unique points of the outfits to the audience. You don’t have to worry about it. A co-host will be arriving later to explain them.”

“Okay. Thank you.”

After Angeline scanned the outfits on the racks, a look of disappointment appeared on her face again. There was nothing unique about them; they looked no different from the ones available in the current market.

Forrester Group specialized in making high-end clothing back then. Clearly, the standards of the company have fallen.

Just as she was deep in her thoughts, a few makeup artists entered the room and began dolling her up.

It was already nine o’clock at night by the time everything was ready. The time of the live stream was approaching. Worried Angeline would be hungry during the stream, Nancy asked, “Do you want to eat anything? I can go out and get it for you.”

The mention of food made Angeline’s stomach growl. Just as she was thinking of what to eat, she suddenly heard an employee greeting, “Good evening, Mr. Yiurk!”

“Hello. Don’t mind me. Carry on with your work,” Hanson ordered in a formal tone. Following that, he pushed the door and entered the live-streaming room.

He wore a dark gray custom-made suit, which made his warm face look more friendly. Meanwhile, standing behind him were a few assistants who were carrying packets of food in various sizes.

Hanson scanned the staff in the live-streaming room with a smile. “Thank you for your hard work, everyone. Here is some food for all of you. Please take some.”

Hearing that, the staff cheered and hurried over while uttering words of thanks.

“Thank you, Mr. Yiurk!”

“You’re welcome. All the best tonight. It’s going to be a long one,” Hanson said with a chuckle, his gaze flooded with gentleness.

Nonetheless, Angeline’s expression turned frosty when she watched the scene.

There was no denying that Hanson was an extremely pretentious man. If not for the years of acquaintance with him, she could never imagine him the same person who had gone mad at the bar previously.

Just then, Hanson walked over with a packet of food, beaming. “How long have you been here?”

Alas, Angeline did not even bother looking at him. Instead, she picked up the liquid foundation and touched up her makeup.

The fact that she was ignoring him in front of so many people embarrassed Hanson. It put him in an awkward position.

Thankfully, Nancy noted the situation and piped up to break the awkward atmosphere, “We arrived quite some time ago, and we’re still getting ready. Anyway, have you ended your work for the day already?”

Hanson’s gaze was still fixated on Angeline as he grunted a reply. “I had nothing much to do in my office, so I decided to come here and check on things.”

He then placed the packet of food on the table and reminded gently, “Please eat something before the event.”

“Thank you, Mr. Yiurk,” Nancy thanked with a grin. It was at that moment she realized their containers were more premium than the others, not to mention the contents.

Just as Nancy was about to take them, Angeline gently tapped her finger on the table.

“Thank you for your kind intentions, Mr. Yiurk, but I’m just doing what I’m paid to do. There’s no need for you to be so thoughtful,” she uttered, barely moving her lips. She was blatantly declining Hanson’s acts of kindness.

“Stop making a fuss, Angeline.”

His tone was gentle as usual, but the exasperation on his face made him look as if he was coaxing an angry child.

Right then, Angeline snatched the container from Nancy’s hands and handed it to him while glaring at him icily. “Give this to the others. We’re not hungry.”

Her rejection made Hanson’s expression change drastically.

Yet, she feigned ignorance. After all, she was always great at acting accordingly. And with her disgust for Hanson’s pretentiousness, she could not be bothered to put up with his act.

Nonetheless, Hanson could not continue pestering her, for they were under the watchful eyes of many staff. In the end, he had no choice but to share out the food with the others with a gloomy expression.

Angeline was not feeling hungry anymore by the time the live stream was about to start. Hence, she recollected herself and walked over to the stage.

Everyone else, except for Angeline and her co-host, had gone backstage to manage the live stream. Still, both parties could see each other clearly through the soundproof-transparent glass.

As soon as the live-stream camera was turned on, a clear view of Angeline’s and the co-host’s faces appeared on the computer screen. At the same time, the number of viewers in the left corner of the screen shot up.

“Hello, everyone. I’m Beany, your host for today. I’m sure all of you must’ve been waiting for a long time. Anyway, we have a special guest today. She’s Angeline, the actress who played Alleria’s role in “The Journey.” Let’s invite her to introduce herself.”

Soon, the overhead camera shifted to focus on Angeline’s face.

She put on a polite smile and waved at the camera, greeting, “Hello, everyone. I’m Angeline. I’m really glad to have this opportunity to work with Forrester Group.”

Right after she finished speaking, the audience bombarded the comments section, saying they would support her in whatever she did. It did not take long for comments like that to fill the entire section.
