Chapter 25
Chapter 25
Silver Forest under the Purple Sky (6)
The crystalline force condensed in Ghur’s hand flew into the Ashpim Giants group, drawing a trail of light!
-Boom!
The light struck the face of the Ashpim warrior running in the lead, a ray bursting through its head. It seemed that he had a lot of experience fighting with them; he hit the brain directly, avoiding the hollow soundbox that occupied more than 90% of the giant’s head. Under the moonlight, fragments of brain flashed an unpleasant red color as they scattered across the ground. Those who were rushing from behind saw it and stopped immediately in their tracks.
“Khaaaa! am’goowaaa!”
Three Ashpims appeared to be wizards. They raised their voices and shouted as if they were in command of the crowd. Then, except for those protecting the wizard, the rest of the warriors put some distance from each other, spreading out in all directions, and rushed toward us.
“Fortunately or unfortunately, they seem to have no Enchanted Wood in their hands.”
“I think so.”
“Yeah. If they could use barrier magic, they would have put the formation in one place without dispersing like that.”
Obviously, it would be ideal for one of the wizards to defend everything with a barrier while the others prepared magic. If so, the warriors would surround the wizards. But when there was no barrier, they decided to scatter the warriors and rush towards us from all sides. When Ghur first attacked, the invisibility magic surrounding his body was broken, and I, who weaved a spell together, was also exposed.
“Mgggooooo! maggwaaaa!”
Those who saw me closely were more excited and screaming among themselves.
[“It is human! What a windfall!”…No more translations now.]
Perhaps Parvache was tired of repeating the same words. If I had some physical abilities, I could play assassin by putting invisibility on my body again and putting a knife through their necks, but it was faster to be reborn. I couldn’t do what was not possible.
Anyway, the only way I could attack was magic, so I prepared another spell to launch a magic attack. The most powerful thing was summoning magic, but I didn’t have a few minutes to spend opening channels and summoning! After completing a simple calculation, I slammed a clenched fist in my hand. I emitted compressed air bullets from the tips of my fingers.
“Pebbles of Driflos!”
-Smack! Smack, smack!
It wasn’t a one-shot, one-kill as neat as Ghur’s, but with multiple shots, I succeeded in killing several of the Ashpims running ahead at the same time! A hole the size of a human head was drilled through their soundboxes and limbs. The warriors were tossed in the opposite direction from which they were running and hit the ground.
“Khaaaaaa!”
The ones running from behind trampled over the fallen. Some tripped and fell, making a mess. In the meantime, I could feel the wizards had almost completed the spell in the rear. I didn’t know what the spell was, but I had to stop it. I took out the iron plate I had prepared in advance. I moved the Mana to quickly vibrate the sharp air and scrape the iron plate. It was a magical vibration without a proper spell. Simple but effective.
As a result…
-Keeeeeeeeeeek!
“Khaaaaaaaaa!”
“Mmmkhaaaaaa!”
When they heard the high-pitched noise that was several times sharper than the siren, the Ashpim Giants screamed as if they were really mad. However, the sound my iron plate made was much louder than their screams. It was a nerve-gnawing noise that magnified the sound of scratching on plasterboard several times. I was annoyed, too, but how many times more sensitive were those guys than humans? I felt the wizards lose focus and fail his spell.
I looked sideways if it had influenced Ghur, and although he frowned a little, he was completing his spell without any worries. It was assumed to be a spell that borrowed the power of other worlds, given the feeling of power. The magic system that I used as my main power and the source of power was similar, so I could easily recognize it. I constantly threw air bombs at them to keep them in check. I had a spell to annihilate them, but I was worried that I would sweep away Ghur, who focused on spells without protection next to me. I wasn’t confident because it was my first time fighting with someone.
In the meantime, Ghur shouted the starter after he completed concentrating the mana.
[email protected]#@$!
And, the sky turned upside down.
“…Huh?”
After a while, I realized it was my mistake. The sky wasn’t upside down. The earth covered the sky.
“Khaaaaaaa!”
“Khooowaaa!”
-Grrrrrrrr! Grrrrr!
Would it look like this if the ground hit the waves? The dry earth began to sway like crazy, and it swallowed up the giants! The warriors ran away like crazy but couldn’t avoid the cracks and rising rocks. The giants’ bodies were torn apart in a mass of rocks attacking from all sides. One of the wizards helplessly raised its hands to cover its body. Still, even the attempt was ridiculous, and a pile of dirt and rocks of enormous weight swallowed them whole. In an instant, half of the group of Ashpims were buried in the ground or crushed to death by rocks.
“Yoong! There are still two wizards left!”
While Ghur’s magic swept over them, I wasn’t playing either. I stretched my hand forward to fire the prepared shot. It seemed that Ghur’s spell wasn’t intended only to attack them, but at the same time, aimed to create a position favorable for us. While the earth moved and swallowed up the Ashpims, the ground on which Ghur and I were standing soared high, creating a barrier in front of them. This was enough. He wouldn’t be swept away even if I threw some strong magic.
“Ghur, please lower your head for a moment.”
“What?”
“Hold your head down and cover your ears.”
“…This is the wall that I made so that you can hide while shooting air bullets, not me…”
Even after seeing my magic, I think he tried to create a favorable environment for my combat method. He had good sense. The intention was good, but it was annoying to shoot and kill them one by one. Ghur was puzzled, but he hid behind the wall and covered his ears as I told him. I checked it and then completed the spell.
“The Storm of Adelegos.”
At the same time as the chant line, the millet-sized gray dust blooming in my palm was blown through the surviving Ashpims. The speck of dust had already disappeared from my view as soon as it flowed into the air. Still, my Mana circuit showed that the highly condensed energy was rapidly flying around the group of giants. As soon as I sent it away from my fingertips, I quickly hid behind the wall, hesitantly sitting down, and closed my ears. At that moment!
-Crumble!
Over the wall, a shockwave that was incomparable to Ghur’s previous spell tore the atmosphere.
-Kuaahahhh!
“What, what! what!”
Everything in sight shook and rolled like crazy. Ghur screamed in confusion, hitting his buttocks several times while sitting on the rocking ground. If he hadn’t covered his ears, he might have lost his hearing. Wouldn’t it sound like this if the sky collapsed?
“Aaaaahh! Uaaaagh! What is this?!”
Even though he couldn’t control his body, his complexion was deep blue. The atmosphere, which boiled fiercely as if it had gone mad for a moment, began to subside little by little after a dozen seconds passed, and then the madness stopped.
“Ugh! Uuugh! Huaaargh!”
On the earth that had regained its tranquility, only the rough breath exhaled by the Dell Giant remained and resonated.
“Y-you…what the hell…”
For such a long time, Ghur attempted to calm he breathe. After slowing down his astonished heart, he sighed deeply and got up from his seat. Then he turned his gaze over the wall where he was hiding, and he hardened. All 20 or more Ashpim Giants had disappeared. There were no corpses left after Ghur buried them in the ground. The entire land where the Ashpim Giants were had been overturned. What was left was the trace of a huge explosion that nature couldn’t have created. Purple moonlight seeped like blood over the wounds of the trampled earth.
“…What kind of magic was that?”
Ghur asked, dumbfounded. I answered with the truth.
“It is a magic that borrows the power of a superior being. Depending on the dimension, there are cases where the name of immortals defines them; some are called great spirits, some are called gods, and sometimes they are called demons…”
“No, I know that it is not a natural force, but magic using the power of someone I don’t know. What principle is used to create such destructive power?”
“It explodes highly compressed vibrations and sounds in a confined space. We heard a roar because the distance was close, but we wouldn’t have heard anything if we were just one or two kilometers away. On the contrary, the ones in the middle who were directly hit by magic were caught in a storm of loud noises that made their eardrums pop.”
Their eardrums burst. The whole body also burst out to the point that there were no pieces left.
“…Weren’t we in danger, too?”
“…Well adjusted.”
Ghur shook his head as if it was absurd and asked again.
“I’m sorry to ask the same question over and over again, but now I’m really curious, so I’m going crazy. What the hell are you doing in your original dimension?”
I shrugged and answered.
“…I’m unemployed.”
