After inspecting the dead monsters for some time, Lucas suddenly felt a presence approach him from behind. When he turned around, he could see a beautiful young lady holding the hand of a little boy standing behind him, and they were both wearing luxurious clothes.

"Hello, traveler. We saw how you helped us defeat the monsters from inside the carriage, and I just want to express my gratitude to you personally."

The young lady lowered her body and gave him a graceful bow, and the little boy beside her followed her actions.

"My name is Charlotte— Charlotte Gilson, and this is my younger brother, Alfred Gilson. How should we address you, traveler?"

"You can just call me Lucas."

"I understand. You have my most sincere gratitude, Lucas."

And she continued, "I heard from the captain that you're lost, is that correct?"

"Do you have a destination in mind? Perhaps we can help you by giving you directions."

He shook his head and said, "No, not really. To tell you the truth, I woke up in some wilderness without having any idea how I got there, and I am just trying to figure out what I should do now."

Lucas decided to give himself the background of a lost traveler who has amnesia.

"You don't remember how you got there? Since it's the wilderness, there are usually monsters roaming, so you probably ran into a monster and lost some of your memories after fighting it. What is the last thing you can recall?"

Lucas shook his head and said, "I'm sorry, but I don't recall anything besides my name."

Charlotte covered her mouth in a shocked manner, "I didn't think it was that serious. To lose all of your memories, you must have suffered a heavy blow. However, you seem perfectly fine on the outside. Are you in any pain right now?"

Lucas could tell that she was suspicious of his claims, but he didn't panic and spoke calmly, "Just a slight headache. I don't think it was caused by monsters, though. When I woke up, I was by myself. If it was a monster, it would've eaten me while I was unconscious."

"My memories will eventually come back, so I can worry about it later. Right now, I need to find a place with civilization and a quiet place where I can rest." Lucas said.

"That makes sense…" Charlotte nodded in a pondering manner.

"My memories will eventually come back, so I can worry about it later. Right now, I need to find a place with civilization and a quiet place where I can rest." Lucas said.

After pondering for a bit, Charlotte spoke, "If you want, you can come with us to our city. It's about 60 miles from here."

"Alright, I will do that." Lucas agreed to her suggestion.

Charlotte returned to the captain shortly after to let him know of the situation.

"He'll be traveling with us, huh? Do you think we can trust him? He may have helped us with the monsters, but we don't know his identity, and his amnesia seems a bit suspicious if you ask me."

Charlotte turned to look at Lucas, who was looking around the scenery with a face full of genuine curiosity.

"I think we can trust him."

"I understand."

Sometime later, Lucas noticed the guards digging into the monsters' corpses, and he watched them with interest.

'So we have to manually extract monsters' mana crystals in this world… What a hassle.' He sighed inwardly.

Once all of the monsters were extracted of their mana core, the captain approached Lucas and said, "Hello, Lucas. I'm Leo, and I am in charge of the Princess' and Prince's safety. You'll be riding with me since you don't have a ride."

Lucas nodded, and he followed Leo back to his horse.

"Do you need help getting up?" Leo asked when he noticed Lucas staring at the horse.

"I got it."

Lucas took a deep breath before jumping right on the horse, sitting right behind Leo.

"Head out!" Leo shouted to the drivers of the carriage, and the guards on their horses began following the carriage, surrounding it from all directions.

About two hours later, Lucas could suddenly see what appeared to be a wall in the distance.

"We're almost there." Leo said to him after seeing the city walls.

Fifteen minutes later, they arrived in front of the city.

Lucas looked at the huge gates and the scenery of the place that reminded him of medieval times.

While the carriage and the others stopped, Leo continued moving towards the gates until he was stopped by the guards there.

"Welcome back, Leo." The guards saluted him.

Leo saluted them back and said, "The Princess and Prince has returned from their journey, open the gates."

The guard nodded, but he didn't leave immediately.

He looked at Lucas and asked, "Who's that kid? I don't recognize him."

"He's a traveler we met on the way back. He helped us take care of some monster, but he has amnesia and has nowhere to go, so we're letting him stay in our city for now."

"I see… You can leave him here for his permit." The guard then said.

Leo nodded and turned to look at Lucas.

"You'll need a permit if you plan on staying in the city for longer than 30 days. Go with Amand, he will handle everything for you."

Lucas got off the horse and followed the guard, Amand, to a room right beside the entrance.

Meanwhile, Leo and the others entered the gates and disappeared into the city.

"Alright, let's start with your name." Amand sat before Lucas with a stack of papers in his hands.

"Lucas."

"How old are you?"

"18 years old."

"I know you have amnesia, but do you remember anything about your background or where you came from?"

"I only recall coming from a place that has really tall buildings." Lucas said.

"Tall buildings, huh? I can only think of one place with tall buildings, but that place is on another continent, so it's very unlikely that you came from that place."

"Anyways, place your hand on this crystal ball."

Amand suddenly placed a clear crystal ball on the table.

"This will tell us if you're a wanted criminal or not," he said.
