Chapter 72 Silk Spiders [Part 2]
Chapter 72 Silk Spiders [Part 2]
Zack immediately broke into a sprint again as, after a few minutes, he managed to reach Emma.
The latter was trapped in thick silk that covered her entire upper body. It was somehow a miracle that she managed to outrun those who were running behind her.
"So we are trapped," Emma muttered as she saw the hundreds of spiders behind Zack.
In total, there were at least a thousand spiders in the entire place. A few of them stepped forward and were finally visible to the duo else they were seeing red eyes only.
[ Silk Spider (Level 40 (+20)) ]
Even without the buff, it would have been extremely difficult for the duo to win the battle.
Currently, they had no way of winning and would probably be killed unless and until someone came and save them. Zack knew that a lot of things could happen that would allow them to get away.
But he knew that counting on such things was mostly going to go all out. He took all three of his weapons and looked at the top of the cave with a grim expression.
All the cobwebs on the ground and the walls had been cleared by Emma but the ceiling was still full of them. The only reason the duo couldn't remove the cobwebs on the ceiling was that the queen and the boss of the dungeon had personally made them.
This was to make sure that the stone hill never came crashing down on the dungeon and killed all the spiders.
Unlike ant queens', the spider queen was very protective of her children and loved them a lot. So when it came to them dying because of someone else's fault, she would release her mommy powers.
'If I had known about that before, I would have never separated from Emma.' Zack thought with a sigh as Emma took out her bow and got ready to attack.
Her expression clearly said that if she was going down, she was at least taking one more spider down with herself.
"Well here goes nothing." Zack sighed before using Gugnir's energy blast attack.
All five blasts hit the ants but barely seemed to do any sort of damage. It was almost as though Zack was throwing pebbles at the big spiders.
"Moon shower!" Emma then released her arrow as it turned into thousands of arrows. The arrows rained towards the spiders but the same thing happened.
While using inspect, Zack saw that not even a single spider was below level 50 in the crowd.
"Damn that queen is smart. She only sent out those at level 30 or above so that we won't even have a chance against a single one of them." Zack decided that the situation had passed the do or die situation too.
It was now either die or die slowly since the spiders would capture him and Emma for the newborns. They were then going to drench them in saliva and get them soft enough for the newborns to swallow.
Zack and Emma would rather die than go through such a thing though the latter didn't know about it yet.
"So any suggestions on what to do, number one player?" Emma asked with a small smile as Zack shook his head.
"Check the rankings." He sighed as Emma raised her eyebrows before checking the rankings. Her jaw dropped down when she saw new names in the rankings, especially those in the top 5.
She herself fell down to the 21st place which was a major shock. She looked at Zack for an explanation but all he could do was shrug.
"Those are from the neutral side and in case you didn't realize, we are being wrapped in fine silk," Zack added as he pointed at the silk web that was covering their waist.
Emma had realized this too but hadn't said anything since she had realized that there was no point in saying anything.
The duo made their weapons vanish as Zack transferred all of his items to the guild storage. Emma did the same thing as the two of them were now just standing there in their normal clothes.
"Well, let's just end it ourselves." The duo both held a dagger in their hands. The spiders made screeching noises as they realized what was happening.
They tried to use their web to take the knives away but the duo had already slit their throats.
Their dead bodies were now wrapped in silk as the spiders started screeching. A few seconds later, the bodies vanished as well.
During that moment, two more names vanished off the top rankings as Emma and Zack's vision went black as system notifications appeared in front of them.
[ Player Zack has died. ]
[ Player Emma has died. ]
[ Rebirth spot: Red dawn guild ]
[ Rebirth in five seconds ]
Five seconds later, the duo could see the white room of the guild. They immediately opened their status in front of them before sighing together.

His status had been reset to the point where he had started the game from. It was going to be a long climb back up again.
"Wait… I wonder how many skills stayed with me." Zack muttered as he checked his skill page and was surprised to see that most of them were still there.
The only ones that had vanished were acid drops and a water gun but he barely used those two skills so it didn't matter much.
"This is weird… I have most of my skills with me. Don't skills vanish too when you die and get reborn?" Emma asked with a confused expression as Zack shook his head.
"Some skills learned from skill books stay there permanently while some vanish. As for those which you learned through the bow, they will be there as long as you have the bow."
"Then that's a good thing," Emma replied as she took out her golden bow.
Zack on the other hand tried to check whether Gugnir's rewind skill would help him or not.
[ Last savepoint: outside spider dungeon.
Note: All changes to stats, levels, skills, and items will not be reverted. ]
"Guess we are grinding again." Zack sighed before putting Gugnir away again and looking at Emma.
Both of them were determined to go ahead and get back to their previous positions, no matter how much time it took them.
They took the spider cave incident as a learning experience which told them that there was no higher power who was gonna save them.
Zack had read that there were many times when higher powers like gods or someone like that would interfere when the reincarnated person was about to same.
He would be lying if he hadn't thought that the same thing might happen to him.
But the spider cave incident gave him the confirmation that he was on his own and could only rely on his friends and beasts.
"This was the perfect lesson for us to never become overconfident," Zack said with a smile as Emma nodded but before they could set out on grinding again, Jack and Marcus suddenly burst inside the room.
And judging from their expressions, it looked as though they had just found out the reason why boys didn't want to bathe beforehand and then spent hours inside the shower.
"We just created one of the most useful pills ever!" Jack said while jumping a little but he looked confused when he saw the duo.
"Did we perhaps, come at a wrong time?" Marcus asked while raising his eyebrows as Zack shook his head.
"Don't mind us. We just died and got respawn." He replied with a smile which made both Marcus and Jack pause.
"You both… died?" Marcus asked with a slightly open mouth as the two guild leaders nodded.
They then told the duo about everything that had happened inside the spider cave as they listened carefully.
"Damn, so now the neutral side players are the top 5 players…" Marcus muttered with an amazing expression before he looked at Jack and smiled.
The two boys suddenly regained their excited aura as they looked at Zack and Emma again. Seeing their enthusiasm, the duo thought as though the two of them and found the pill to cure cancer.
"Then we have got the perfect pill for you guys in such situations!"

I am pretty sure some of you feel like that. But in reality, this will be something that will set my novel to be different to be from the others.
Despite how many power-ups the mc has, he is not the strongest in the universe. And in the end, what fun is a story without twists and turns?
