Chapter 641

The silence in the living room was suffocating.

Suri clenched her teeth, her eyes fixed on Warner’s face, which wore a smirk that didn’t quite reach his

eyes.

She understood that his calling her “Aunt” wasn’t about preserving her dignity; it was about maintaining

his own image as the golden boy of the Bright Group.

“Grandpa found out about Chasel’s actions and has been bedridden in a rage for two days now. You

can imagine how furious he must be.”

Warner’s gaze was as cold as ice. “The last time Grandpa was this angry was when you were hell–bent

on running off with Mr. Emeric, knowing full well that he was married. You didn’t care about your own

reputation or the family’s, insistent on being his mistress.”

Mistress a word so full of insult, used against one’s own kin.

Suri turned pale, but she refused to show any sign of defeat.

Even if she was no longer the Bright family’s darling daughter, no one could break the noble, unyielding

spirit that ran through her veins.

A sharp pain struck at Evadne’s heart, her shoulders trembling with anger.

At that moment, her fury was real, her blood boiling with indignation!

Thaddeus brows furrowed, his grip tightening on her cold fingers.

He now saw the situation clearly. Because of Suri’s relationship with Mr. Emeric, the Bright family’s

attitude towards the Ashbournes was nothing short of hostile.

Chasel, unable to bear seeing his aunt insulted, roared with anger, “Enough, Warner! I’ve already

agreed to return with you. What more do you want?”

Warner’s brow furrowed, his finger pointing accusingly. “Shut up! You don’t get a say here!”

Evadne glared at the man with unbridled fury.

She finally understood why Chasel preferred to struggle alone overseas rather than return to the

suffocating embrace of the Bright family and accept a privileged position in their corporation.

What a stifling family!

“What’s gotten into you, kid? Stop spewing nonsense here!”

Aviana, wild as an untamed horse, broke free from Myra and Nydia, her entire being aflame with rage

as she charged at Warner.

Thankfully, Jason, with his towering frame, caught her midway, the only one who could hold back her

fiery onslaught.

Warner chuckled coldly, then turned back to Suri. “Aunt Suri, my father sent me here for two reasons.

First, to bring Chasel back, and second, to deliver a message to you. He said, if you’ve truly decided to

cut ties with the Bright Group, then stick to your word. Don’t use underhanded means or excuses to

drag our family members into your mess. That winter when Ms. Ashbourne suffered a miscarriage, you

knelt outside Grandpa’s house for three days and nights without food or drink, and only then did he

relent out of pity for you, once his favorite daughter, and gave you the medicine to save Ms. Evadne.

You haven’t forgotten that, have you?”

His words, spoken so casually, stirred a tempest in the heavy air!

Evadne’s eyes reddened, a searing pain spreading from her heart, coursing through her stiff limbs.

Thaddeus‘ eyes widened, a bitter, metallic taste rising in his throat.

He bowed his head in anguish, closing his bloodshot eyes, feeling as though his heart was shattering

within his chest.

“It’s alright,” a gentle voice soothed, reaching his ears.

Evadne gripped his chilling hand firmly, though hér voice was rough, “It’s alright, Thaddeus, it’s all in

the past.”

But the more she feigned composure, the more his heart ached unbearably.

Only now did he realize his past coldness, his heartlessness, not only cost the woman he loved their

only child and her right to motherhood but almost-

Made her less than whole.

The ladies were among the first to know, but the rest of the Ashbourne family remained in the dark!

“Evadne.” Nydia, soft–hearted and unable to hold back, covered her mouth as silent tears fell,

eventually collapsing into Jason’s arms.

While Jason comforted her, his own eyes were not dry.

“Have you said enough, Warner?” Suri finally lost her composure, her emotions erupting.

“These are my father’s words, not mine. Otherwise, do you think I’d want to be here, waste my breath

on you?”

Warner lifted his chin arrogantly, his contempt evident as he stared at her pallid face. “You made your

hed, you swore your oaths. Last time, it was only after your desperate pleas and nearly losing your life

that Grandpa reluctantly helped you. You should be grateful, not greedy.”

How could a junior speak to an elder with such disrespect? But Warner, the heir apparent of the Bright

Group, spoiled and entitled, spoke and acted as he pleased.

“If you really care about Chasel, don’t drag him down with you. Don’t make things difficult for him.”

With a scoff, Warner turned and walked away with a swagger.

“Stop right there!”

Evadne’s voice, cold and sharp, halted him in his tracks.
