Just as Kaylee was puzzled, a phone call came in.
It was a private number.
Without giving it much thought, she swiped to answer the call.
The sound of electricity crackling came from the other end, but she could faintly make out that it was a
woman’s voice.
“Kaylee, congratulations! You’ve managed to stay in the Wickam family as you wish, but I’m afraid the good times won’t last long. Old Madam Wickam is sharp and observant; I doubt any demons or monsters. could escape her discerning gaze. Don’t you want to stay?” The woman’s voice was enticing.
It seemed that the person was well-acquainted with Kaylee’s situation, probably because she had done her
research.

But for Kaylee, these things were not the most important.

Kaylee was a bit startled, but once she gathered her thoughts, she readily agreed.
