Chapter 60

Chapter 60: Committee

Compared to "Qingbei," the name "Qiming" sounds a bit ordinary, but it sounds more approachable and lacks the pretentious feeling of the former.

Of course, naming their own team is, for most people, including Chen Mu, a bit of self-amusement. After all, within the entire school, they have the enemy "Yi Zhong," and there's the much larger influence of "Qingbei." Qiming's so-called development and recruitment are currently like a fleeting illusion.

But everyone seems to be having a lot of fun.

Zhao Xiaoyan said, "Now that we have both a general meeting and an action plan, should we elect a leader?"

"That makes sense."

"Then why don't we continue to be led by Class Monitor?" Tang Jing smiled.

"Naturally," everyone agreed.

However, Dong Junwei shook her head, "To be honest, if it were just us, I would take the position without hesitation. But since we need to recruit others, I believe having a male leader will make people feel more secure... So, I nominate Chen Mu."

The others were momentarily stunned.

Then they responded, "Sure."

"It doesn't matter."

"Whatever."josei

"..."

In the past, Chen Mu would never be compared to Dong Junwei in any way. However, during these days of the apocalypse, he has demonstrated abilities and maturity that have elevated him in the eyes of others. Moreover, with the support of Wei Dalei, people didn't see any problem with this proposal.

After listening to this, Chen Mu seriously considered it for a moment but ultimately shook his head.

"Serving everyone is not a problem, but a leader, to a large extent, is a representative to the outside world. At present, we are still within the school, and I still think Class Monitor is more suitable."

After a brief pause, Chen Mu continued, "As for whether it should be a male or female leader, I do have a different opinion."

"What is it?" Tang Jing asked curiously.

"In the current environment, most survivors are already extremely cautious, and practically any organization is willing to join. So, the so-called sense of security doesn't hold much significance. Perhaps having a female leader might make people more inclined to trust and feel closer to the group. Besides, we might be stuck within the school premises for a long time, and the Class Monitor's visibility and charisma far exceed my own as an unknown soldier."

Upon hearing this, the group exchanged puzzled glances.

The two of them seemed to be pushing the leadership position back and forth without reaching a decision.

Suddenly, Tang Jing suggested, "Actually, there's no need to be fixated on this point. I have a proposal. As Chen Mu said, if it's about the external representation, Class Monitor is indeed more suitable. So, please, Dong Junwei, stop declining the position. However, we can establish another organization, similar to a committee, where important decisions are made through collective discussions and resolutions among a few members."

Tang Jing looked around and smiled, "What do you all think?"

Zhu Hao nodded, "It's a good idea, but with just a few of us, is it necessary to complicate things? We can simply follow the previous approach, where you three discuss and then inform us of the decisions."

Tang Jing replied, "If it were just us, there would be no need for that. But we are considering the future, and the sooner we establish such a system, the better. Otherwise, when more people join..."

She seemed like she wanted to explain further but stopped herself and didn't continue.

"I agree," Chen Mu immediately spoke up, sensing the hesitation in Tang Jing's words.

"Count me in."

"That sounds fine."

"I have no objections."

Everyone expressed their agreement.

Tang Jing said, "Class Monitor, it's settled then. The leadership position is yours."

Dong Junwei nodded, "Since that's the case, I won't decline it anymore."

Tang Jing added, "Also, regarding the responsibilities and operating procedures for the leader and the committee, I will draft a set of regulations later, and then we can anonymously vote and decide until everyone is satisfied. How does that sound?"

"Good." The group enthusiastically agreed.

"Now, it's time to select the committee members. How many people do you think would be appropriate?" Tang Jing asked.

Zhao Xiaoyan said, "We are only a few people, so let's stick with the three of you: Dong Junwei, Tang Jing, and Chen Mu, just like before."

Wei Dalei mindlessly nodded in agreement.

Chen Mu suggested, "I propose adding He Ying to the committee."

Dong Junwei immediately nodded, "That's what I had in mind too."

He Ying was taken aback, "Am I suitable for this?"

Clearly, in He Ying's mind, the foundation of Qiming still belonged to Dong Junwei, Chen Mu, and the others. Since they were all classmates, it wouldn't be appropriate for the three of them to meddle with outsiders.

Dong Junwei shook her head, "You must be part of this; otherwise, this whole thing would be meaningless."

Tang Jing added, "Although we don't evaluate individuals solely based on their abilities, during such extraordinary times, the value they bring to the team should be an important criterion. That's why, besides He Ying, I suggest including Da Lei as well."

"Huh?" Wei Dalei couldn't believe that he would be dragged into this, so he asked, puzzled, "What do you mean?"

Dong Junwei and Tang Jing almost said in unison, "You don't need to worry about it; just go along with it."

"Erm..." Wei Dalei became even more bewildered, turning to Chen Mu, he asked, "Boss..."

Chen Mu nodded in response.

Wei Dalei could only dumbly say, "Okay, then."

Chen Mu could somewhat grasp the deeper meaning behind Tang Jing's proposal. He Ying, as one of the first outsiders to join, possessed significant abilities that were helpful to the team. Naturally, she couldn't be excluded. However, for Tang Jing and Dong Junwei, as she had only recently joined, their level of trust in her was not as high.

Thus, adding Wei Dalei to the committee could dilute He Ying's influence, serving as a compromise.

In this regard, He Ying probably understood it too.

But the real intrigue lay in Wei Dalei's unique identity.

On one hand, given his relationship with Chen Mu, joining the committee would essentially increase Chen Mu's influence.

On the other hand, Wei Dalei couldn't ignore Zhao Xiaoyan's opinion, and Zhao Xiaoyan happened to be He Ying's best friend, which in turn added weight to He Ying's position.

As for Dong Junwei and Tang Jing, they didn't benefit much from this decision. If there were any disagreements, Wei Dalei would certainly not take their side.

In this way, adding Wei Dalei to the committee seemed like a rash decision, but it actually acted like a lever, creating a mysterious balance among everyone.

"He Ying, what do you think?" Dong Junwei asked.

He Ying's thoughts were not as quick as Tang Jing and the others, so she pondered for a while before figuring out the intricacies.

Originally, she and Dong Junwei belonged to the same type of people, both enjoying being in control. However, since joining this group, due to various reasons, she had become more humble and her personality had undergone significant changes, seemingly less inclined to take the lead.

Yet, the proposal made sense.

He Ying glanced at everyone present, her gaze pausing briefly on Chen Mu, before finally nodding and saying, "I agree."
