Chapter 438 Something Or Someone?
Chapter 438 Something Or Someone?
?
'I would like it to be multiplied in terms of quality.' Jack decided in his mind.
[Multiplier effect applied. The income has been multiplied by 100 times in terms of quality. You have received a phantasmagoria crystal.]
As soon as the system prompt appeared, the crystal that Jack was holding in his hand suddenly lit up. The light was bright and it enveloped the entire crystal.
After the light dimmed down, Jack finally realized that the crystal that he was holding, from being the size of a tennis ball, it had suddenly become small like a golf ball. Moreover, it was crystal white.
Jack had already decided that, since this thing was capable of affecting superhumans, then, he was going to increase it in terms of quality rather than quantity. In that way, the effect of the crystal was going to be way better than before.
'System, is there any information about the crystal that I have received?' Jack asked after weighing the crystal in his hand. He found that it was almost weightless. He could not relate if it was due to the fact that he was a superhuman, or, it was just that the crystal was light.
[Phantasmagoria crystal
Available uses; 2
Effect: It is able to influence the mind of a sixth stage superhuman, making them see illusions that the holder of the crystal will want them to.]
Jack was surprised when suddenly, a panel appeared in front of him. Normally, he believed that, just like usual, the system was not going to give him any positive response. Rather, it was going to tell him to go and explore by himself.
But now, a game-like panel had appeared in front of him. Additionally, it possessed the most important information about the crystal that he had received.
Deciding not to think much about the reason why the system gave him the response, Jack finally focused on the information. And after reading it, he was intently surprised.
It seemed that the crystal was quite capable. It was capable of affecting superhumans at the 6th stage. But, there was something that Jack was wondering about. If initially, the mirage crystal was capable of affecting a stage 1 superhuman, then, why was it that if it was multiplied by 100 times, the crystal could only affect a stage 6 superhuman?
As if seeing through Jack's doubts, the system responded.
[From the first stage of the superhuman level, to the sixth stage of the superhuman level, there is a wide gap. So, despite the fact that all of them are superhumans, the superhuman at the 6th stage has already broken six genetic locks.]
[If there is even a single genetic lock that a person has broken, then, that person is going to be able to improve immensely. It is not just in terms of physical capabilities, but even mental capabilities.]
[That implies that, the mental fortitude of a sixth stage superhuman is way higher as compared to the one at the fifth stage. Moreover, the higher you go in the stages of the superhuman, the wider that the gap between each stage of the superhuman level exists.]
Jack himself had never experienced what it felt like to be a first stage superhuman. So, it was not a surprise that he did not know the difference between a first stage superhuman, and a second stage superhuman.
Although Celine was currently at the first stage of the superhuman level, they had not yet tested out her abilities. Moreover, even Jack himself had not yet fully tested his full capabilities.
Anyway, after receiving the response from the system, Jack finally had some basic understanding of the superhuman level. It seemed that breaking the genetic lock was not that easy. And, if one managed to break the genetic lock, then, they would get a very big boost in terms of capabilities, both mentally and physically.
Additionally, there might be a chance of activating an ability with breaking of the genetic lock. Of course, this was information that Jack did not know about. Currently, although Celine had managed to awaken her ability, it was acquired, and not innate.
Keeping the crystal inside his pant pocket, Jack shifted his attention towards Celine. She had basically finished her 'testing', but she had left Doris completely battered.
Although Jack felt a chill down his spine when he realized that Celine could be at times cruel, he liked this decisive character of hers. At the end of the day, they were going to the strongholds where killing was not strange.
Although until now, Celine had never killed, but, it was better that she seemed not to be much afraid of blood. Otherwise, if she was afraid of blood, then, when they went to the stronghold, and perhaps reached the battlefield that they were talking about, then, how was Celine going to handle the situation?
"I hope that you have not killed her." Jack stated as he took a step forward.
"Of course not. Although I was a little reckless, I did not kill her. Additionally, even if she dies, there is still a group of three that is waiting for us. I do believe that they possess just as much information as she possesses." Celine replied as she took out her handkerchief, wiping away the blood that had spilled on her.
Jack did not respond to that. Instead, he went ahead and looked at Doris who had already screamed, until her voice was lost. Now, she was looking at the sky blankly with tears streaming down her cheeks.
Of course, Jack did not have any shred of pity for Doris or the three that had several of their bones broken. They had come over to kidnap someone.
Since they were targeting his family, then, there was no way that Jack was going to be lenient on them.
"Start talking. I want to know everything about the reason why you came here, and if you possess any information about anyone that is related to me or anyone around me." Jack stated indifferently.
When she felt Jack's cold gaze on her, Doris trembled. Currently, she believed that, just like Celine, there was no way that Jack was ordinary. So, she decided to tell him everything that she was allowed to talk about.
"I don't know much myself…" Doris began. But, she was speaking in a low and hoarse voice, that completely irritated Jack's ears. It was obvious that after all the screaming, she was in no condition to speak. She was just forcing herself from the fear that she might experience the same pain as before.
"Stop it already." Feeling helpless, Jack waved at her and stopped her from continuing. Even though it was true that he was a superhuman and possessed incredible hearing, there was no way that he was going to listen to this lady speaking in an irritating voice.
"Now look, I told you that you are not supposed to hurt her throat, but you did. Now, we can only depend on the other three to give us information, despite the fact that they are not the leaders." Jack stated helplessly as he looked at the three that were still on the ground.
The three of them had already decided to stop screaming. Although it was true that they had already had several of their bones broken, the pain that they were experiencing was not the same as the one that Doris was experiencing under Celine.
So, they decided to shut their mouths, just to ensure that they did not attract Celine towards them. They did not want to experience the kind of pain that Doris was experiencing, considering that, just from looking at her expression, it was obvious that the pain was immense.
Doris was someone who had been to a battlefield, and she had experienced several fights and was injured on several occasions. There was even a time that she had broken her leg during a battle. But, at that time, she never screamed.
But now, under Celine's 'testing', she was forced to scream until she lost her voice. They could just imagine the kind of pain that she was going through.
"I did not hurt her throat. She was the one that was screaming so loudly that she ended up hurting herself." Celine responded nonchalantly as she looked at Samantha.
"What happened to Samantha? Why is she frozen in place?" Celine asked worriedly. All this time, she had been focusing on the group of four, not expecting that the light show was going to affect Samantha.
"Leave her alone. She's going to wake up after a while. She is currently inside an illusion." Jack replied as he looked at Ken.
"So, why don't you tell me what I want to know before I start asking?" Jack stated as he looked at Ken, showing that, if he was not going to respond, then, Jack was going to make a move.
"I'll tell you! I'll tell you! Currently, I am bound by a contract, so I cannot reveal a lot of information to you. Additionally, I don't know much about the information itself." Ken shouted hurriedly.
"There is something that was found 5 years ago. As for what it was, I don't really have information about that because it was kept as a secret by the supreme leader of our organization."
"We received information from our vice supreme leader that, what the organization had found five years ago was important. They have been trying to use it, but no matter how much they tried, they could not."
"That was the reason why they came with a solution, trying to look for information that could enable them to utilize it. According to the vice supreme leader, as long as they found the information, then, our organization was going to dominate the entire Stronghold."
"The vice supreme leader received information that, there was someone that possessed information that we were looking for. And that person was Nathan. We sent someone to come and look for him, but, they he was killed.
Then, Erick came over, but he died too. That was why we were sent over to look for Nathan. But he disappeared, so, we decided to look for the best next solution, which was, to look for his sister for the information." Ken replied hurriedly, worrying that if he delayed, Jack might make a move.
"Something? Are you sure that it is not someone?" Jack asked with a frown on his face.
