I Am A Notorious Hidden Boss In The Alternate World

Chapter 147 - Something Wrong With The Slot Machine

Chapter 147 - Something Wrong With The Slot Machine

"Quite the high-end establishment alright. As expected of the best casino in town," Albion commented while casually eating his meat skewers after entering the main entrance.

"It's only midday, but it's already this lively here."

Albion swept a casual glance beyond the reception and noticed most of the slot machines were taken.

"..."

Albion was speechless.

There were so many gamblers in the middle of the day.

'Did people have nothing better to do, becoming bored addicts, or is there some special event going on today?' Albion mused.

"Sir, you cannot bring outside food in here," The cute receptionist lady's sweet voice interrupted Albion's thoughts, causing his gaze to shift over to the counter.

"The two gents outside also knew, but they let me inside." Albion stated calmly before asking, "Are you going to stop me?"

"This..." The receptionist lady hesitated slightly before asking him carefully, "Are you a VIP member here, sir?"

"I'm confident in remembering faces, but I don't think I've seen you around here before..." She added shortly after.

"I'm not a member." Albion shook his head honestly.

"I see..." The receptionist lady muttered.

Her eyes flickered, assuming Albion must be connected to someone from the higher-ups for the security guards to let him in.

"Would you like to sign up for a membership card, sir? There are many benefits that comes with becoming a member."

"Such as?"

"Hotel and restaurant discounts are just one of many. The higher your membership, the more benefits you receive," The receptionist lady began listing, including special access to certain facilities and complimentary benefits.

After listening, Albion shook his head in apology, "Sorry, I am not interested. I am only here to milk—Ahem, I mean to play only once. I am not a frequent customer of gambling."

"I see... You must be here to participate in the event today then, sir."

"That's right. I am here to participate in the event...what event?" Albion nodded calmly before suddenly asking, immediately stunning the receptionist lady.

She was dumbfounded by his response.

'How can you be coming to attend the event if you don't know what event it is?' She thought speechlessly.

"You must be joking, sir. Please enjoy your stay. I will be attending the other guests now," The receptionist lady spoke courteously before she no longer paid attention to Albion.

"Well, whatever. I will find out soon enough." Albion shrugged nonchalantly before taking a glance at the slot machines and muttered, "Guess I'll start off with some slots."

Albion walked over to the cashier counter and exchanged $50,000 into chips with his bank before walking back to the slot machine area.

Seeing there were no empty slot machines, Albion walked over to the nearest slot machine and closely watched the 40-year old lady in blue dress play.

"Hm?"

The blue-dressed lady noticed Albion's presence before asking, "Can I help you, young man?"

"Oh, no. Don't mind me. I am just watching casually," Albion stated with a deadpan expression.

"I see. Suit yourself then." The blue-dressed lady shrugged before grinning, "This lady is in a good mood, so I don't mind letting you watch how this lady wins."

"Seems like you've been winning a lot," Leon casually said after glancing at the $7 million balance shown on-screen.

Although Albion did not know how much money the blue-dressed has put into the slot machine, it was senseless to put in that much.

"Naturally, I've been winning. Can't you see my current balance?" The blue-dressed lady pointed out with a smug look.

"I heard slot machines are designed to earn money for the owner. Players will always lose money if they continue to play. Is there a trick?" Albion asked.

"Of course, there is! How do you think I earned so much? Not that I will teach you, though. However, you are free to watch and learn—if you can learn anything, that is."

After the blue-dressed lady spoke, she resumed playing the slot machine.

It was a 3-reel slot machine with average multipliers between 2x to 10x, while the 777 jackpot was a whopping 1000x.

At that moment, the blue-dressed lady was betting $2500 at a time. Each time she pulled the lever, it would deduct $2500 from her balance.

Albion watched the blue-dressed lady pulled the first lever to spin the reels.

Ding!

It was a miss.

In slot machines, misses were naturally the most common thing to see, but also the most hated and least desired result—just like homework handouts by the teachers in school. You don't like them, but you still got to do them.

The blue-dressed lady's expression was calm as she continues to pull the lever and bet $2500 per game.

Ding!

-$2500

-$2500

-$2500..

...

After 40 misses in a row, the blue-dressed lady's calm and confident expression crumbled slightly.

Seeing as he had not witnessed a single win, Albion casually stated, "I'm watching."

"Hmph! Misses are to be expected in slots. What's important are the payouts. As long as they are greater than the price of accumulated misses, you'll still be earning," the blue-dressed lady snorted and continued.

Ding!

-$2500

-$2500

-$2500...

...

After another 200 misses in a row, the blue-dressed lady's expression completely darkened.

"I'm watching intently," Albion said calmly.

"Just keeping watching. When this happens, it means that the jackpot is coming," the blue-dressed lady spouted grudgingly with red eyes.

Ding!

-$2500

-$2500

-$2500..

...

After another 500 misses in a row, Albion continued to calmly and patiently say, "I'm watching very, very intently."

"Dammit! There's something wrong with this slot machine! How can I miss so many times in a row without even a small win!? There's no way someone's luck can be this bad!"

"This slot machine is rigged!"

The blue-dressed lady completely lost it and stood up, signing off with her remaining balance using a white chip card before storming off.

"I'm not playing here anymore! I'm going to make a complaint!"

"She probably rubbed off some of my bad luck…" Albion mused wryly before taking his seat at the slot machine.

After swiping his chip card to add all $50,000 balance on the card, Albion hurriedly pulled the lever to test his luck.

Ka-cha!

The lever snapped off.

"…"

Albion glanced silently at the lever in his right hand before he muttered, "There really is something wrong with this slot machine..."

Of course, he was not going to admit that it was his fault.
