Chapter 352 - Extremely Timid Spirits
Chapter 352 - Extremely Timid Spirits
The Netherworld Realm is like another universe that exists in a different dimension but runs parallel to the material world.
It is infinitely vast and connects to every world; each sector has an administrator who manages the samsara cycle for the material world under its jurisdiction.
King Yama was the administrator of the Earth sector—that was until the Dark Emperor killed him.
Nevertheless, the Netherworld Realm wasn't as simple as a world for the afterlife of the deceased. It was far from it.
It is a spiritual world for all spirits, whether they were born in the Netherworld Realm or descended from the world of the living.
The underworld was just one side of the Netherworld Realm.
Rumble…!
Albion's grumbling stomach made him look for quick shortcuts out of the Region of Desolate Famine as he glanced up at the sky and the ground below.
"Since the Netherworld Realm's world laws operate differently; simply flying through the sky or burrowing through the earth could potentially land me in different Netherworld Region," Albion mused.
He cannot tell how far the sky stretches, but it was better than trying to burrow into the ground, which was full of Gluttonous Soulsand.
With a strong leap, Albion immediately took off from the ground and shot into the sky with swift speed, but not as fast as he was hoping.
The ground did not even crack under the force of his takeoff due to the restriction of physical attributes.
Nevertheless, Albion continued to ascend the sky, leaving the Region of Desolate Famine far behind, and the feeling of hunger gradually faded after he left the range of its domain.
Flying through the endless sea of crimson mist, Albion could not determine his sense of direction, much like traveling through a boundless void of space.
The only difference between the two was the vast infernal and nether energy, among several other energies that fill the Netherworld Realm.
Despite flying blindly through the endless sea of crimson mist, Albion was confident that he had strayed from the 'upward' direction when he had taken off.
Two hours later, Albion saw land 'above' him with Eyes of Ashura.
However, that land has vast grey mountains, black grassy plains, and even towns and villages of varying designs and sizes.
There were people within these towns and villages—or rather, they were spirits.
And to these spiritual beings, who exist in various forms but look closer to demons, Albion was not flying 'up' to them; he was descending towards them from the sky.
Boom!
Albion eventually crashlanded headfirst into the land, not far from a small village, with his head burrowed and his arms and feet sticking in the air.
Ding!
<You have entered a semi-material plane>
<Your restricted physical attributes has been partially lifted>
…
Shortly after pulling his head out of the ground and spitting out a mouthful of dirt, the first thing Albion saw was a chubby red-skinned boy with two horns holding a straw basket of Nethergrass while staring back at him with a frozen look.
"A red demon spirit?" Albion guessed the chubby red-skinned boy's race before his eyes fell on the chubby boy's straw basket. "Hey, what do you there—"
"Ahh, ahhhh!"
The chubby red-skinned boy screamed, turning around to run away as soon as it saw Albion take a step towards it.
Seeing that the spirit's first instinct was to flee instead of trying to possess his body, the body of a harmless young-looking man would not even hurt a fly—Ahem, never mind.
Albion was dumbfounded for a moment before he gave chase.
"Why are you running? Why are you running?!"
"Ahh, ahhh!"
The chubby boy screamed while running back towards his village, but the chubby boy was no match for Albion's speed.
Albion quickly caught the chubby boy, causing the chubby boy to squeal even louder like a pig that's about to be slaughtered and attract the other spirits in the village over.
A red-skinned elderly spirit took the lead, followed by several other red-skinned adult spirits of both genders before they all stopped some distance away and stared at Albion's hand on the chubby boy's shoulder.
"Great Immortal, this old man is uncertain of what Su-Keemer had done to offend you, but won't you spare him? He is just a boy," the elderly spirit pleaded.
"Please spare him, Great Immortal! He is just a boy, Great Immortal! Please! We'll do whatever you want!"
The rest of the spirits pleaded while bowing down to Albion and viewing him like some supreme being that had to be feared and respected.
Their exaggerated reaction made Albion's lips twitch.
"Hey, hey, you're making me look like some bad guy here, not that I'm not, but anyway, this boy just screamed like a pig and ran when I tried asking him some question, alright?"
Shortly after Albion released his hand, the chubby boy immediately hurried over to the adult spirits' side and hid behind them with its straw basket.
"Oh, no… How can you ignore the Great Immortal's question and run away? Quickly apologize to the Great Immortal and beg for his forgiveness!"
A female adult spirit admonished the boy before pulling the boy to bow to Albion like the rest of them.
"Look, I just want to ask some questions and be on my way, okay? There's no need for all this, so spot wasting my time."
"Yes, yes, of course, Great Immortal! Please ask away. Whatever questions you have, we will answer them to the best of our abilities!" the elderly spirit stated humbly yet timidly.
Albion could feel the fear in all their eyes, and for a moment, he doubted that his murderous aura was out of control again.
However, that was definitely not the case.
He was sure of it.
'Since it's not that, then it must be due to my cultivation,' Albion concluded.
Even since he entered the Netherworld Realm, he had yet to reseal his cultivation, but there was no need either.
The physical attribute restriction allowed him to stay in the True Immortal realm indefinitely without an issue.
'Still, aren't these spirits a little too timid?'
