Chapter 35: Too Many Tricks
Gu Heng actually felt that it was no big deal to make a wasted trip.
The blow he had suffered was no less than returning empty-handed, although strictly speaking, he did at least take in a ghost as... a friend?
Not a pet anyway.
Gu Heng held the lantern, and with Jian Xuan shining inside, the hall didn't look particularly dark anymore. He walked along the inside of the hall, making several rounds.
Finally, he stopped, feeling a little disappointed.
There is definitely no opportunity in this place.
This is the tomb of a certain emperor, but it has absolutely nothing to do with the Riyan Dynasty. His imperial tomb is not here, and it is definitely not a place that mortals can trespass in. The reason why there is a tomb in this mountain... I'm afraid it's because the previous dynasty was destroyed, and the tomb of the last emperor had to be built in this desolate mountain.
There is a bronze coffin in the middle of the hall, and the lid has been opened!
Things have become so miserable that Gu Heng knows that he must be late. Maybe there was some opportunity before, but there is definitely no chance now.
There was nothing left in this place. He could see some burial gold and silver, or some very ordinary low-quality white jade, but he was not interested in these things. Money was indispensable to him, but it was not that important. It was better for him to avoid stealing tributes.
The only truly majestic things are the twelve armored sculptures next to the coffin. They might have been the emperor's strongest generals when they were alive. After their death, their armors were still placed here to guard the coffin.
But this obviously did not stop the guys from ripping open the coffins.
"Alas...it seems that the guy lying here is quite pitiful."
Gu Heng bowed twice to the coffin to show his respect for the deceased. Then, he looked into the coffin out of curiosity, wanting to see how luxurious the "bed" where the emperor slept after his death was.
He looked inside and found no body.
But underneath, there was a silver-white jade pendant lying there quietly, with a lustrous color. Even the coffin looked a little rusty, but the jade pendant was not.
"What is this?"
Gu Heng picked it up and looked at it carefully, but he couldn't figure out what it was, so he put it directly into the system backpack.
But suddenly, the twelve armored sculptures nearby moved!
"Crash!"
A sound of metal collision was heard, and these armored sculptures raised their swords and quickly attacked Gu Heng!
"These things can move!?"
Jian Xuan was horrified. These twelve suits of armor seemed to contain some dormant souls, but were suddenly awakened. Each of them seemed to have the strength of the tenth level of the Tribulation Crossing Stage.
It seems that there is murderous intent at every step in the tomb of the Nameless Emperor.
Jian Xuan thought that even if he had been able to pass the first two obstacles unscathed, he would probably be killed once he entered this hall.
"Tsk, why are there these little tricks again? How boring."
Gu Heng frowned, thinking that he had never seen any real harmful traps in this mausoleum, but there were so many tricks designed to fool people.
He attacked directly, using both his fists and feet, and smashed the moving armor sculpture into a pile of parts.
His "body refining" skill is also superb, and this skill is actually very useful. Although it cannot make money, after Gu Heng trained to the maximum level, he never suffered from those common minor illnesses again.
He once competed with a 200-pound mortal strongman in breaking rocks with his chest.
These things are not scary at all.
"Are you okay, Lao Xuan?"
Gu Heng waved the lamp in his hand.
"It's okay. Master Gu is indeed very powerful. This arrangement is really useless to you."
Jian Xuan watched him easily dismantle the twelve armored souls. Even when he was alive, he might not be able to easily deal with twelve creatures of such strength. He wondered how powerful this Mr. Gu must be.
There is no point in taking it for granted. There was no way to detect his breath; it was hidden too well.
"Yeah, whatever you say is fine."
Gu Heng didn't want to pay attention to him anymore. He had turned into a ghost and his thinking was not very clear. He might really think of him as some powerful person.
But what interested him was that as soon as he approached the bronze coffin, these armor sculptures moved... Was it because he took away the jade pendant?
If this is the case, then this jade pendant probably has a great origin.
But he definitely couldn't think of anything here, so Gu Heng decided to leave and go into the city first.
He turned and walked out of the hall.
He walked out of the cave again along the direction he came from. When Gu Heng looked up, he found that it was already dawn.
Before I knew it, the night was over.
Gu Heng didn't feel sleepy. It might be because he had left the familiar place of Qingmu City. It was really hard to fall asleep in the mountains.
"Yeah, you're really obedient."
Gu Heng saw the little silver cat lying next to the tree roots. He knew that the little guy had listened to him obediently and did not run around, waiting patiently for him to come out.
Sensing that the wall of sword intent was disturbed again, Su Jinxi immediately looked up and saw Gu Heng coming out with a lantern. She squinted her cat's eyes and found that there seemed to be a very powerful residual soul in the lantern!
Did the master have any harvest?
"Oh...it's actually a nine-life demon cat at the tenth level of the Tribulation Crossing Stage?"
Jian Xuan also saw her and was stunned.
"Who are you?"
Su Jinxi transmitted the message through her mind, and she stared closely at the glowing white ball in the lamp.
"Master Zijian, Jian Xuan."
"Master Zijian? The great elder of the Wanjian Sect who disappeared for no apparent reason more than two thousand years ago?"
Su Jinxi was also stunned. She naturally did not expect that Gu Heng would bring out the former great elder of the Wanjian Immortal Sect, who had long been believed to be dead, from this hidden place. He was now alive in the form of a residual soul. More than two thousand years had passed, and the sect leader had been replaced by a newcomer, and so was the great elder.
"I also had some acquaintances in the Nine-Life Demon Cat Clan. I wonder how Su Fangchun is doing now?"
"Su Fangchun is now the patriarch of our clan." Su Jinxi said.
Jianxuan felt that time passed really quickly.
"It seems that you and I now have a common master."
Su Jinxi looked at the ancient lamp that Jian Xuan lived in and could tell at a glance that it was extraordinary. Gu Heng must have felt sorry for Jian Xuan's broken soul and took it in, allowing him to rest and nourish his soul.
It can be considered that Jian Xuan was lucky.
"But why don't you show your true identity?" Jian Xuan asked.
"He likes me like this. He probably thinks I look cuter this way."
"oh..."
Jian Xuan understood this. He also used to have a little demon cat, a demon beast, very small and very comfortable to touch. Since then, he has loved petting cats.
But compared to him, Gu Heng's pursuit is obviously more refined.
He raises monster beasts, while others raise monster clans, and the ones they raise are monster clans at the tenth level of the Tribulation Crossing Stage.
"Come back, we should go into the city."
Gu Heng stuffed the ancient lamp into the system backpack. The system backpack could not hold living things, and the residual soul in the lamp was obviously not defined as a living thing. He picked up Xiao Xi, held her in his arms, and went down the mountain along the path.
