The soul bringer's thoughts did not go unnoticed by Jonathan.

He stopped humiliating the soul bringer and extended his hand to pull the latter up.

The soul bringer was severely injured and was at their mercy.

He was unconcerned about his missing arm, though, since he could use his immense vitality to grow another limb in the future.

Of course, losing a limb had resulted in him losing much vital energy. He would need some time to regain it.

Jonathan asked the soul bringer, “It seems you're willing to collaborate with us now?”

The soul bringer had a complicated expression. After a long moment, he finally nodded.

Jonathan smiled and said, “That's good. Let's find an appropriate place to talk further.”

The soul bringer uttered, “I only have an hour, or else I won't make it back to Eonetara Gate. If I'm late, I won't be able to hide today's matter even if I want to.”

Jonathan replied, “One hour is enough.”

Then, Jonathan and the others brought the soul bringer to a quiet alley.

“What do I call you?”

The soul bringer did not want to answer Jonathan, but he had no choice but to submit to the latter in his current circumstances. He muttered, “I'm Darion Green.”

Jonathan enquired, “Darion, what's your position in Eonetara Gate?”

“In Eonetara Gate, there are three million soul bringers. They are divided into many classes. There are soul guards, soul generals, soul marshals, soul lords, soul emperors, and soul sages. There are two million, nine hundred and fifty thousand soul guards, forty-nine thousand and eight hundred soul generals, one hundred soul marshals, eighty soul lords, eighteen soul emperors, and two soul sages.”

Jonathan and the others were astonished upon hearing that. “What are you?” Jonathan asked.

“I'm a soul emperor!” Darion replied.

The trio exchanged glances. We're rather unfortunate to encounter a soul emperor so quickly.

However, Jonathan heaved a sigh of relief. It's a relief Darion is a soul emperor. If he were only a soul marshal, then the strength of the Eonetara Gate would truly be terrifying!

Jonathan asked, “Who's in charge of Eonetara Gate?”

Darion answered, “Thanatos.”

Jonathan was stunned. Thanatos really exists!

“Then, following Thanatos, are the soul sages the ones with the most authority?”

Darion responded, “No, that would be the Ten Kings of Eonetara Gate.”

Finding this odd, Jonathan remarked, “Thanatos and the Ten Kings of Eonetara Gate genuinely exist. It might appear that folklore is not so implausible, after all.”

Darion replied, “There's always a grain of truth in legends and folklore. However, the truth becomes increasingly distorted as people spread them.”

“There's something I would like to ask you. Please answer honestly,” Jonathan stated.

Having accepted his fate, Darion replied solemnly, “Go ahead.”

Jonathan asked, “Do you know of Infant King?”

“No,” Darion replied with a shake of his head.

Jonathan's head ached. “Do you really not know?”

A strange expression crept over Darion's face as he questioned, “Is he very famous? Must I know about him?”

Jonathan replied, “Infant King originates from a baby ghost and has immense dark energy. As a soul emperor, aren't you responsible for catching him?”

“We have one million and five hundred thousand ghost buses patrolling the entire country every night.

The ghost buses are only in charge of catching lost and wandering ghosts. As for negative energy objects with cultivation, we won't care about them if they don't appear in our range. They are equivalent to the overworld's trash. The rubbish truck won't go looking for trash on purpose. They will only go to the designated places to collect the trash and maintain overall cleanliness. It's impossible to clear all the trash, and that's the same for us. We are unable to eliminate all the negative energy objects in the overworld,” Darion explained.

Jonathan had to admit that his words made sense.

“Then do you have any special means that could assist me in locating Infant King's subordinates? He has hidden his remaining primordial spirit in my friend's Forehead Acupoint. We have to find his subordinates,” he said.

Darion shook his head. “It's impossible to find them. If his subordinates are in Eonetara Gate, we can use our network to look for them. However, we don't have that in the overworld, so we don't even have the means to look for them.”

He was undoubtedly telling the truth because of his serious and earnest demeanor.

Jonathan, Mabel and Beatrix knew he was not lying.

Their hearts sank. It seemed as if they had no clues to even begin!

However, the most urgent matter now was not finding Infant King's subordinates. They had to figure out what to do with Darion.

“If I kill Darion, will the people from Eonetara Gate find out?” Jonathan asked Beatrix.

Fear flitted across Darion's eyes, and he swiftly responded, “Of course, they will find out. There are records here in the Eonetara Gate, and the Ten Kings of Eonetara Gate are very powerful. They will be able to trace your scent by using the aura at the place of the incident.”

“Are they that amazing?” Jonathan questioned in disbelief.

Beatrix replied, “It's very likely he's speaking the truth. We can't kill him.”

Jonathan pursed his lips and said, “We have a dilemma. If we kill him, we might get killed in return. If we don't kill him and let him go, he will send people to kill us after he returns.” He paused momentarily and glanced at Darion. “If you were in our shoes, what would you do?”

Gritting his teeth, Darion answered, “I swear I'll not cause trouble for you if you guys let me go.”

Jonathan did not care for that. “There's no substance in your promises. I'm not that stupid to believe in you.” He paused and added, “Oh, right. There's something I'm curious about. We met a bunch of people who claimed to be from Eonetara Gate. They are...”

Then, he explained Otto's death and how some old men in black robes had tried to trap him in Void Domain.

“How are they related to you guys?” Jonathan asked.

Darion replied, “I have a rough idea of this incident you mentioned. They are indeed from Eonetara Gate and should be Wrath King's subordinates. He supports the idea of the underworld ruling the overworld. As he wants to rule the whole world, he has been getting his subordinates to execute this

plan.”

Jonathan touched his nose and asked, “Does that mean I'm in danger?”

“I don't think so. What the Wrath King is doing is going against Thanatos' wishes. Since he's doing this in secret, I don't think he'll try anything in broad daylight.”

Jonathan exchanged glances with Mabel, and they both let out sighs of relief.

They were relieved not because the Wrath King did not dare to exact revenge but because Thanatos did not support this.

Jonathan could not help but ask, “Then, what about the other Kings of Eonetara Gate? Do they support or object to the Wrath King's ideal?”

Darion replied, “I don't know the exact details, but Wrath King has the most influence among the Ten Kings of Eonetara Gate, second only to Thanatos. Thanatos has always secluded himself away and doesn't bother with worldly affairs. Therefore, the situation is quite complicated. However, Wrath King is afraid of Thanatos, so he dares not be too bold in his actions.”

Beatrix chimed in, “There's only half an hour left. Let's discuss the most urgent matter now.”

She changed the subject to the most crucial and urgent matter at hand.

Jonathan said, “How we handle this all depends on your sincerity, Darion. We only wanted to ask you about Infant King today, but you wanted to fight us when you saw us. It was not our intention for things to end up like this.”

Darion was full of regret at how he had acted too hastily. Unfortunately, this was due to him being bad- tempered and rarely interacting with mortals.

After a long moment, he said, “If you guys don't believe me, you can insert vitality containing some mana into my Forehead Acupoint. If I come to exact revenge on you guys, you can kill me from anywhere, even thousands of miles away.”

Beatrix's eyes lit up. “That's a great idea.”

Jonathan was not capable of doing it, so only Beatrix could insert her vitality with mana into Darion.

“Beatrix, he can't absorb your vitality, right?” Jonathan asked.

Beatrix answered, “No one can absorb vitality which has been inserted into the Forehead Acupoint unless he has reached the Immortal Stage. It's the same thing with Mabel too. She can't absorb it. Instead, she must attain enough dark energy to reach the same level as Infant King's primordial spirit.” She paused momentarily before adding, “Also, Infant King is unconscious now, whereas I'm conscious.”

Seeing how confident Beatrix was, Jonathan did not say anything more.

Then, Beatrix inserted her vitality into Darion's Forehead Acupoint.

After that, they let Darion go.

Upon hearing that, he immediately left without looking back and quickly vanished into the night.

Jonathan and the others had gotten much information and learned more about Eonetara Gate.

However, they still had no clue where Infant King's subordinates were.

“Let's head back. We can talk after we're back,” Mabel said calmly.

Jonathan and Beatrix nodded.

Even though they had all had an unnerving and stimulating night, at least they managed to come out of things unscathed.

With that, Jonathan drove back to Yaleview.

It was four in the morning when they reached Mabel's home. Beatrix and Mabel went to shower, and afterward, they went back to their rooms to sleep.

Jonathan was the last to shower. After that, he lay on the couch in the living room.

Although he had a tiring day, he could not fall asleep.

He did not spare much thought on the matter with Eonetara Gate. Instead, he was thinking about Mabel. Although Mabel appeared to be nonchalant and unperturbed, Jonathan knew that it was a matter of life and death for her. She would die if they made even the slightest careless mistake.

He could not stand something bad happening to her.

But, what's the next step?

Jonathan did not know what to do.

Do I continue following the baby ghost? However, it doesn't seem the baby ghost has anything to do with Infant King's subordinates.

“Oh, right!” Jonathan suddenly thought of something.

Infant King's subordinates are all negative energy objects. If these negative energy objects gather together in one place, the negative energy there would be immense.

Since Infant King appeared in Yaleview, that means its subordinates should be near there.

In that case, I'll just have to get Jeff to search around Yaleview and investigate those places with high levels of negative energy.
