132 Participating in the Investigation
Zheng Ling looked at Shen Yin in a daze. “Boss, are you sure? Isn’t that even more terrifying?”
“You can try.” Shen Yin patted her head, which was blocking the computer screen, and started writing the autopsy report.
“Victim, female, age 25. Death occurred between 12:00 and 1:00 a.m. on the day of the crime. She died of a myocardial infarction caused by an intravenous injection of air. The victim’s missing organs were removed postmortem. However, based on the wound on her abdomen and the blood loss and biological response in the surrounding regions, the victim was forced to undergo a Caesarean section while she was alive.”
After Shen Yin calmly finished explaining the situation to Team Three, the office was completely silent.
!!
Wu Zheng coughed to hide his discomfort. He looked at Zou Sheng, who was in charge of verifying the identity of the deceased. “How’s the investigation going on your side?”
When the captain suddenly called Zou Sheng’s name, he gathered his wits and said, “We’ve checked and confirmed the identity of the victim. The victim’s name is Tan Li. She’s a language teacher at Experimental Elementary School. Her husband’s name is Hu Jin. He’s the President of an investment company.”
Wu Zheng nodded and asked, “Have you called him? Ask him to identify the victim.”
Zou Sheng snapped his fingers and pointed towards the door. “He’s already waiting there.”
Shen Yin stood up and looked at the autopsy report seriously. “I’ll bring the deceased’s family over.”
Wu Zheng agreed. “Thank you, Dr. Shen.”
Shen Yin did not comment. She opened the office door and saw a dejected man standing outside. His suit was wrinkled, and his face was covered his stubble. His hair was also messy.
Shen Yin sympathized with him. His wife, who was about to give birth, had suddenly been murdered. The baby had been removed, the organs were gone, and the body had been left exposed. No one would be able to accept this.
When Hu Jin saw Shen Yin, he hurriedly ran over and knelt down in front of her, tears streaming down his face. “Officer, I beg you, you must avenge my wife and child!”
Shen Yin hurriedly helped him up. She wanted to comfort him, but she realized that anything she said was useless. She managed to squeeze out a sentence, “Let’s take a look at the corpse first. Perhaps it’s not your wife.”
Even though she knew that the possibility was very slim, she could not bear to do this. She could only temporarily stabilize his emotions.
However, objectively speaking, even if it was not his wife lying on the autopsy table, it would also be someone else’s wife who had suffered a calamity. No matter who it was, this was an undeserved calamity.
She took out the corpse and slowly unzipped the body bag. Time seemed to stop in the small autopsy room. The room was so quiet that she could clearly hear the man’s rapid heartbeat.
No matter how much she dreaded it, she could not change the facts.
When Hu Jin saw his wife’s pale face, he could not help but squat down and cover his face as he cried.
Shen Yin felt a lump in her throat. After working as a forensic pathologist for so many years, her greatest dislike was not the corpses of those who had died in terrible circumstances, but the families of the deceased who had to hear the grievous news.
The dead needed her to speak for them, and the living needed the truth.
She patted his shoulder comfortingly and put the corpse away carefully before leading Hu Jin out of the autopsy room and bringing him to Team Three to sign the report.
After the identity of the deceased was confirmed, the normal investigation could proceed.
As Shen Yin was not the forensic pathologist specially assigned to Team Three, she only needed to complete her own autopsy work and did not need to participate with the rest of the process.
But this time, Shen Yin volunteered to participate in the investigation.
Wu Zheng was naturally happy to have such a useful pair of hands to help him and readily agreed to Shen Yin’s request.
Zou Sheng leaned over mysteriously and asked, “Sister Shen, are you very interested in this case?”
Shen Yin thought for a moment, shook her head, and said with a wry smile, “I just want to find out the truth for the sake of the deceased.”
She was not a sentimental woman, but perhaps this case reminded her of herself when she was alone and helpless before giving birth. Perhaps she sympathized with the woman, who was about to embrace a new life, or perhaps she pitied the unborn child who had lost everything before it was born.
In short, Shen Yin was determined to follow up on this case until the truth was revealed.
Since she had decided to join the investigation, Shen Yin naturally had to fall in with Wu Zheng’s arrangements. Wu Zheng assigned her and Meng Heng to investigate the deceased’s situation in school and see if they could find any clues.
Shen Yin nodded in agreement and rushed to Experimental Elementary School with Meng Heng. They found the dean of the level that Tan Li taught.
The director was a middle-aged man in his forties. He had a large paunch and wore a pair of thick glasses. When he spoke, his jowls trembled. To say he was plump was an understatement.
Meng Heng sat at desk facing him and took out his notebook to ask the usual questions, “Hello, Dean. We’re from the Criminal Police Unit. We want to ask you about Tan Li’s situation in school.”
“Oh, Tan Li.” The dean, Wang Gang, pushed his glasses up and smiled innocently. “She’s a new language teacher recruited by our school. Officer, why are you asking about her?”
