182 Admitting To One’s Mistake
Yun Shan cowered in the corner, not daring to open the door for the men outside.
She used to be a popular female celebrity in the entertainment industry. With Lian Jing to back her, she had a bright future. However, ever since that woman, Shen Yin, had returned, she had repeatedly caused trouble for Yun Shan.
She did not know what kind of sorcery Shen Yin had used on Lian Jing to make him terminate the contract with her. She had done something that damaged the company’s image and in doing so, had breached the contract first. She had to pay a huge compensation fee. In desperation, she had borrowed the money from a loan shark.
Otherwise, with her fame, how could she have fallen so far?!
She was filled with resentment. If she could, she would definitely retaliate against Shen Yin for all the pain she had experienced!
Yun Shan’s eyes were filled with hatred. In the end, the door of the room broke open. The men walked towards her with lecherous smirks. Soon, Yun Shan’s screams and cries rang out.
Shen Yin went to work as usual, but she would often sit behind her computer in a daze, thinking about something.
Zheng Ling noticed it a few times and asked with a worried expression, “Boss, if you feel unwell, you must see a doctor. Don’t force yourself to carry on. We can keep the forensic department going. If there’s a case, we can handle it!”
Shen Yin shook her head with a bitter smile. “I’m fine. I don’t need to take leave to see a doctor.”
“But you look so pale!” Zheng Ling poured a cup of hot water for Shen Yin and asked with concern, “Did something happen at home? If you need any help, just let me know!”
“I’m really fine. Don’t worry about me.” Shen Yin shook her head and smiled faintly. She muttered to herself, “I’ll be fine soon.”
Seeing that she could not get anything out of her, Zheng Ling could only return to her seat worriedly.
Shen Yin was almost done preparing for the custody battle. Now, she was only waiting for Lian Jing to come back so that she could be completely free.
In the overseas headquarters of Lian Corporation, Lian Jing looked darkly at the Presidents of the various companies who had come to discuss partnerships with him. No matter how what they said, he refused to compromise.
His unyielding attitude annoyed them, but they could not do anything about it.
The Lian Corporation was even more powerful overseas than in China. It almost monopolized the entire market. If these people wanted to survive, they had to rely on devouring other weak companies to get by.
They thought that since Lian Jing had personally come overseas this time, they finally had room to negotiate. They did not expect him to be even more unreasonable than he was rumored to be.
Zhong Xin saw that they had given up negotiations. They were forced to accept their fate and sign the contract. They left the President’s office dejectedly.
“How many more meetings are there?” Lian Jing frowned and looked at the time.
Zhong Xin immediately opened the schedule and replied, “There are still five meetings that have been arranged for this afternoon and the next two days.”
“Move all of them to today.” Lian Jing continued to look down at the documents and decided to bring forward the meeting time.
Zhong Xin gaped in shock and looked at Lian Meng helplessly.
What was wrong with his President? Although he was like a work machine, he had never worked so hard!
What had he missed? How did the President become like this overnight?
Lian Meng, who knew the truth, lowered her head guiltily and did not dare to reply. She could only work hard and keep Lian Jing company.
No one knew better than her what her brother was anxious about… Why not tell her brother the truth as soon as possible? Otherwise, her brother would skin her alive when he got back to China.
After the last meeting that night, Lian Meng hesitantly approached Lian Jing. “Brother, can I go back with you this time?”
Lian Jing had been busy the entire day and his eyes never left the document for a second. When he heard her words, he lost his leisurely attitude. He leaned back on the sofa tiredly and closed his eyes. “I intended to bring you back to China this time. Grandpa’s health is failing.”
“What?” Lian Meng stood up in shock, her eyes filled with tears. “Has something happened to Grandpa? Brother! What happened to Grandpa?”
She knew Lian Jing all too well. If something had not happened to her grandfather, he would not ask her to abandon their business overseas and return to China at this time.
Lian Jing looked up at her and smiled faintly. “He’s fine for now. Fly back with me tomorrow morning.”
“Okay!” Lian Meng nodded. Then, she thought of her ultimate goal. She pursed her lips and looked around uneasily. “Brother, I have to tell you something. Don’t be angry, okay?”
The warmth in Lian Jing’s eyes disappeared. After hearing Lian Meng’s explanation, he felt like strangling her.
He knew it. Shen Yin had been fine when he left. Why would she suddenly become so heartless and disappear with her son? It turned out that someone was causing trouble for him behind his back!
He glared at Lian Meng, wishing he could take back his promise to bring her back to China.
What a troublemaker! Who knew how much more trouble she would cause when she returned to China!
“Brother, I know I was in the wrong!” Lian Meng grabbed his sleeve pitifully, but Lian Jing pulled his arm back mercilessly.
