Chapter 201 - 201 Punishment
201 Punishment
“Lian Jing, you’ve really misunderstood me.” His grip hurt Shen Yin. She slapped his arms hard, but she could not budge the man.
Lian Jing tightened his grip in anger. When his bloodshot eyes landed on the red mark on Shen Yin’s jaw, he regained his senses.
He subconsciously relaxed his grip, but his voice was extremely grim. “Then tell me, what exactly did I misunderstand?”
“I just wanted to clarify matters with him so that he wouldn’t like me anymore.” Shen Yin pried his fingers away with much difficulty and rubbed her aching jaw, glancing at him aggrievedly.
“Then why did you need to get into the car? Were you waiting for him to confess his feelings to you?” Lian Jing felt angry at the thought of that scene. He had a feeling that someone had preempted the surprise he had meticulously prepared.
Shen Yin was speechless when she saw his jealous expression. He looked so murderous it was as if they were discussing her getting into someone else’s bed instead of their car.
“No, I didn’t expect him to suddenly drive off. I didn’t lie to you. I really didn’t know that he would suddenly appear. I went out to see him because I wanted him to leave.” Shen Yin paused and looked away awkwardly. She held Lian Jing’s hand and said softly, “After all, my family is celebrating my birthday today. I don’t want to be disturbed by outsiders.”
Lian Jing’s brows twitched. His heart, which had sunk to the bottom of the valley, suddenly fluttered. The corners of his lips subconsciously curled up. “Really? At least you know your place.”
Shen Yin shook his hand. “Are you still angry?”
“I’m angry.” Lian Jing deliberately pulled a long face and pulled her over to open the door.
Shen Nian and Cheng Mu were leaning against the door and eavesdropping. They suddenly lost their balance and toppled into the room.
Lian Jing grabbed Shen Yin with one hand and his son’s collar with the other. He pulled him up steadily, but ignored Cheng Mu, who was about to fall over.
However, Shen Nian had caught hold of Cheng Mu’s sleeve. He used his father’s force to pull her back in time.
“Well, if I told you that we were just passing by, would you believe us?” Cheng Mu fiddled with the corner of her shirt in embarrassment and stole a timid glance at Shen Yin.
Shen Yin’s head ached when she looked at this child, but in the end, she was just a little girl who was helping her brother. She was not to be blamed.
Shen Yin shook her head and said gently, “Don’t do such a thing again. Go and play.”
“Okay.” Cheng Mu lowered her head as if she knew that she was in the wrong. She obediently moved out of their way.
Lian Jing snorted and let go of his son’s collar. He grabbed Shen Yin’s hand and brought her downstairs.
“Are we going out? We haven’t gone to see Grandpa today.” Shen Yin jogged behind Lian Jing in confusion.
Lian Jing was tall and slender. He strode forward with his long and straight legs. If Shen Yin did not run, she really would not be able to keep up.
“I’m going to punish you.” Lian Jing frowned and pulled her into the kitchen. “Make soup for me.”
Shen Yin heaved a sigh of relief, but at the same time, she looked at him with uncertainty. “Even my soup tastes awful. Are you serious?”
“Yes.” Lian Jing looked like he did not want to say anything more. He leaned against the kitchen door and coldly acted as the supervisor.
Helpless, Shen Yin could only roll up her sleeves and make soup for him.
In the kitchen, the warm sun seeped through the glazed windows, and the fragrance of meat wafted from the pot. Shen Yin struggled to pick up the big pot so she could pour the cooked meat into the clay pot, but a lock of hair strayed from her forehead and suddenly blocked her eyes. She twitched uncomfortably, but the ends of her hair swept across her face, tickling her.
“Idiot.”
A cold hand brushed away the hair. Lian Jing hugged her from behind and held her small hand. He helped her bear most of the weight as he poured the stewed pork ribs into the pot beside him.
“You go out. I can do it myself.” Shen Yin lowered her head and shyly turned to push against his chest. She felt that the current atmosphere was really not appropriate when cooking.
“You’re too slow at making soup.” Lian Jing snorted in dissatisfaction. He did not move at all and had no intention of going out obediently.
“Soup takes time.” Shen Yin raised her head and glared at him innocently. But it was exactly what he wanted. His warm lips pressed down on her unexpectedly.
Lian Jing murmured against their lips. “This is taking too long. I’ll collect some interest first.”
“President Lian, Miss Shen!” The old butler led someone in with a smile, but he could not find the two of them anywhere. Just as he was feeling anxious, he suddenly heard movement in the kitchen. He quickly went over to check, not expecting to see the two of them hugging and kissing in the warm sun.
Shen Yin hurriedly pushed Lian Jing away and breathing heavily as she awkwardly turned her head away.
At the sudden interruption, Lian Jing impatiently licked the corners of his lips that were still warm and asked, “What is it?”
The butler blushed and stammered, “Miss Li Zi is here to celebrate Miss Shen’s birthday.”
