Chapter 189 The Zombie Horde North Of The Shelter
Chapter 189 The Zombie Horde North Of The Shelter
?
Lieutenant General Rivera smiled upon hearing this. He thought that Arlan would no longer send help to the acting president. It turns out that he had misjudged him. "Just give me your orders, Mr. Roa. I may be old, but I can still command the military." He patted his chest confidently.
Arlan chuckled at his words. "I know your capabilities, general. This time, I want you to send a thousand soldiers to the capital to support the acting president. We don't have enough aircraft to transport a force of that size so we will send them using our ships. I will also send Conrad and Cedrick to lead an elite unit of twenty soldiers."
Lieutenant General Rivera was overjoyed. He knew Conrad and Cedrick. He had seen them fight in the training facility a few days ago. Although they were beaten by Sigurd, both guys were great soldiers. "With the both of them leading the army, the acting president would have fewer things to worry about."
"Go ahead and inform the soldiers about this. I'll arrange the ships for them." Arlan said as he waved his hand.
The commanding general nodded his head. "Yes, Mr. Roa!" He saluted before he turned around and left.
Meanwhile, Arlan grabbed his communication device and informed Rear Admiral Fuliand about this. "Rear Admiral Fuliand, please arrange five small battleships. Later, one thousand soldiers will be sent to the capital for a mission. Your task is to escort them safely."
"I understand, Mr. Roa. I will have the ships ready." Rear Admiral Fuliand answered.
"Good! Arlan disconnected the call. He then summoned Cedrick and Conrad. He also informed them about the trip to the capital and gave them their task.
"Leave this to us, boss!" Conrad said in a serious voice. After his loss against Sigurd in their friendly sparring, he added more time to his training. He wanted to prove that he wasn't any less compared to Sigurd. Cedrick had similar thoughts. They wanted to take this opportunity to improve their skills.
After sending them off, Arlan informed Winter and his trusted subordinates about the matter.

A few hours later, the five battleships sailed off into the sea and began their journey.
It took them over twenty-six hours to arrive at the port near the capital and they still had to travel another three and a half hours to reach the location of the shelter. Along the way, they encountered many zombies, but the army of 1000 soldiers eliminated them swiftly. They brought ten tanks with them which added more to their firepower. No zombies managed to get close to them. Even the Tank-type zombies and Hunter-type zombies were blasted into smithereens after being shot by the tanks.
When they arrived at the shelter, the assistant of the acting president, together with a few more government officials came to greet them.
"Hello, Sir Cedrick! Hello, Sir Conrad! The commanding general has already informed me about your arrival. On behalf of the citizens, thank you for providing us with more protection." The president's assistant bowed and the other government officials also bowed at them.
Cedrick and Conrad were overwhelmed by their respect.
"There's no need to thank us. We are only following the boss' commands." Conrad said.
The president's assistant smiled gently. "Please follow us. We will send you guys to meet the president."
"Alright. Lead the way." Cedrick and Conrad nodded their heads.
Soon, they were brought to the penthouse of an apartment building.
Cedrick and Conrad felt a bit nervous since they were about to meet the acting president. Although both of them had high ranks in the military back then, they haven't been in close proximity to a high official.
The acting president was sitting behind his desk. He was reading a document when they entered his office.
"Greetings, Mr. President." Cedrick and Conrad greeted Manuel Chavez and saluted him. Although they had already sworn loyalty to Arlan, the person in front of them was worthy of their respect so they didn't hesitate to salute him.
The acting president put down the document and stared at them. He then stood up and smiled. "You must be Sir Cedrick and Sir Conrad. It's a pleasure to finally meet you two!"
Both parties exchanged pleasantries before they shifted to a serious topic.
"I'm glad that you guys are here. To tell you the truth, our drones discovered a huge horde of zombies 3 miles north of our location. After some investigations, we estimated that there are half a million zombies in the horde. We want to deal with them, but we can't send our soldiers since the shelter will be left defenseless without them." Manuel Chavez said as he showed them some photos captured by their drones.
Cedrick and Conrad were shocked when they saw the photos. There were so many zombies that they filled the entire street.
"Mr. President, are you saying that you want us to eliminate this horde?" Cedrick asked while adjusting the rim of his glasses.
The face of the acting president hardened by his inquiry, but he still nodded his head. He knew that this task was dangerous and there might be heavy casualties. However, they had to get rid of the horde before they formed into a much larger group. "I know that this mission will be dangerous, but I have to make a decision for the safety of the citizens." Manuel Chavez said as he clenched his hands.
To his surprise, Cedrick and Conrad nodded their heads. "Alright. We will take care of the horde. We will get some rest first. Tomorrow, our army will head north to get rid of the horde." There wasn't even a trace of hesitation in their eyes.
In truth, Manuel Chavez was already expecting them to reject this mission. He didn't think that they would actually agree. "Great! I will forever remember this favor! Please convey my thanks to your boss! Once the horde is settled, I'll spare some time to meet him in your base." He already knew about Arlan's identity. The commanding general gave him a few hints that he was working for someone and it didn't take long for Manuel Chavez to get some information about Arlan.
Cedrick and Conrad grinned at his words.
