Chapter 20 Helping Sofia’s Family
Chapter 20 Helping Sofia’s Family
?"Officers, thank you for escorting us here. I'll deal with the rest. You guys can go back to the station." Arlan said to the police officers.
"Alright, Mr. Roa. We'll notify you right away as soon as we gather more information about the criminal organization. You can also rest assured that the property of Miss Sofia's family will be safe. Our officers will be there to ensure that those gangsters won't be back." The officer didn't notice that he was unconsciously speaking politely to the man in front of him. He couldn't be blamed because only the filthy rich individuals could afford a place in the Royal Territory...
"Thank you. I'll let them know about it." Arlan muttered to the officer.
The officer saluted Arlan and shouted to the other officers. "Let's go back to the station!"
"Yes, Sir!"
Weeeeeoooooweeeeoohh
Soon, the loud sirens of the police cars could no longer be heard.
"Mr. Roa, we have already notified the management about your visitors. Someone will come to your villa later to fill in their information. Once their information is noted down in our system, they can freely visit you any time." The leader of the security guards said as he handed a temporary entry pass to Arlan.
"Thanks." Arlan took the temporary entry pass.
"Open the gates."
As soon as the gate was opened, Arlan stepped on the gas pedal.
Sofia's family was stunned by the huge and luxurious mansions inside the territory. At that moment, they realized what true wealth was...
"Those mansions must be worth millions of dollars!" Loyd, Sofia's younger brother muttered with a look of jealousy. He also dreamed of living in a big mansion, but he knew that it was only wishful thinking.
Soon, they arrived at the Lake View Villa.
"Arlan, is this your mansion?" Sofia asked in disbelief. The mansion in front of them was several times more luxurious than the mansions they passed by! Just how wealthy was Arlan? No wonder he was willing to give her 5 million pesos! That amount of money must be nothing to him!
Arlan smiled as he nodded his head. "Come. I'll take you guys inside so that you can take a rest."
Sofia's family followed behind Arlan while looking curiously around them. They didn't dare move around, afraid that they would damage the expensive-looking ornaments and jade vases.
The huge hall was like the home of giants and coupled with its modern design, they almost thought that they were in a sci-fi movie.
"Take your seats first. I'll grab some refreshments for you." Arlan said before he went to the kitchen.
When he was gone, Sofia's mother, Maria, glanced at her daughter. "Sofia, just who is Mr. Roa? How did you know someone like him?" She asked in a low voice. Maria thought that Arlan was just one of her daughter's friends, but there seemed to be something going on between the two.
Sofia shook her head and replied. "I also don't know much about him. I met him at the City Park Hotel when I was working. I thought that he was just a normal civilian. Who would have thought that..." Her voice became inaudible at the end of her words.
Maria sighed upon hearing this. She was an adult and she guessed what her daughter was thinking at that time. Arlan was a tall and handsome young man. He was very attractive to the opposite sex. Her daughter might have taken a liking to him when they first met. "I believe in you." She said to her daughter encouragingly.
Hearing her mother's words, Sofia smiled helplessly.
"Sister, you should have told us if you knew someone like Mr. Roa. We could have asked for his help and saved us some trouble." Loyd muttered.
"Shut up!" Sofia glared at her younger brother. It was because of him that they were entangled in this mess.
Loyd immediately lowered his head when he saw his sister's cold gaze.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
Sofia and the other two stopped chatting when they heard someone's footsteps. When they turned their heads, they saw Arlan pushing a tray cart with one hand. He was also holding a briefcase on the other.
"Did I make you guys wait? Sorry, I went outside to grab this thing." Arlan muttered apologetically as he raised the briefcase in his hand.
Looking at the briefcase, only Sofia knew what was inside.
"No, not at all! Thank you for letting us stay in your mansion, Mr. Roa. We will never forget this favor." Maria said in a grateful tone.
Arlan smiled awkwardly when he heard her respectful tone. He was still not used to the sudden change in his status. "Madam, please don't call me Mr. Roa. You are Sofia's mother so you can just call me Arlan."
Maria smiled upon hearing his words. "In that case, you can also call me Auntie." She replied.
"Alright, Auntie." Arlan nodded his head. He then grabbed the juice he had made for them and filled the empty glasses as he said. "I made this for you. I hope you won't dislike my juice."
"Is this lemon-" Loyd was about to complain when he felt a sharp elbow poking his ribs. He could only force out a smile as he took the glass of lemon juice from Arlan.
"Thank you so much, Arlan. You even made juice for us." Maria muttered joyfully.
"My pleasure." Arlan replied politely.
"By the way, I have something to talk with everyone regarding uhmm Uncle's treatment. Sofia already told me about the story and I believe that it's dangerous to continue receiving money from a drug lord." He hesitated about what to call Sofia's father.
Arlan paused for a moment before he continued. "This briefcase contains 5 million pesos. 4 million will be paid for the debt and the remaining money is for Uncle's treatment." He opened the briefcase and showed them what was inside.
"Holy shi-" Before Loyd could say anything, her mother smacked the back of his head.
