The moment they entered the room, Fabian saw Arlan sitting behind the desk. There was also a tall and muscular man standing behind him. When Fabian saw this person, he felt a familiar feeling. 'It's him!'
"Uncle Fabian, thank you for coming here." Arlan stood up and shook hands with Fabian.
"Arlan, you look more impressive than I last saw you." Fabian was curious about everything, but he was a patient man. He knew that Arlan would tell him all the things he needed to know.
"Haha! You jest, Uncle Fabian. Sit down first. By the way, have you had dinner already?" Arlan asked as he sat down.
Fabian took his seat before answering. "Not yet. I came here in a hurry after the crime scene was cleaned up. As you can see, I'm still wearing my uniform."
"Is that so? Don't worry, Uncle Fabian. I've already told my people to prepare dinner for you." Arlan gave a signal to Karl who was standing behind Fabian.
Karl understood the signal so he nodded his head and left the room.
Fabian didn't reject the offer. "Arlan, I still have to go back to the police station later so I won't be staying here for long, but I will gladly accept your offer to dinner."
"In that case, I won't hold you in suspense anymore. You might be wondering how those twenty-something men were killed without alerting anyone. It's this guy right here." Arlan said while pointing at Khalon.
Fabian narrowed his eyes upon hearing this. He turned his head to look at Khalon, but he was intimidated by the other party's ferocious appearance so he moved his gaze back to Arlan.
"When you told me earlier that you received a tipoff from an anonymous person, I felt that something was off so I sent Khalon to follow you in secret." Arlan added in a calm voice.
"You mean to say that he killed all those people by himself?" Fabian frowned as he asked Arlan.
"That's right." Arlan nodded. "Khalon is a former mercenary from South Africa and his skills are comparable to the best warriors of the Special Forces. Uncle Fabian, without his help, you and your team would have been killed inside that bar. Anyway, that's not the reason why I told you to visit me..."
Fabian became silent at his words. Indeed, without Khalon's help no one in his team would have survived.
Arlan put a hard drive on the table and nodded at Khalon.
After seeing his signal, Khalon grabbed the laptop and connected it to the hard drive.
"I want to give you evidence of Senator Ramon's involvement with Leandro's drug cartel." Arlan said as he played one of the videos saved in the hard drive.
It was the scene of Senator Ramon buying drugs from Diego's group.
"I don't know if the police have information about this guy. His name is Diego and he is one of Leandro's top dogs. From what I heard, he is responsible for the drug business in more than three major cities." Arlan said while pointing at Diego on the screen.
Fabian kept his eyes on the video and nodded his head. "We know who that person is. He is one of the most wanted criminals in the country at the moment. We also know two of his hideouts, but every time we launched a raid, we couldn't find any traces of him."
Arlan played the video and Fabian watched with a serious look on his face. He couldn't believe that the well-known Senator Ramon was actually involved in the drug trade! "I never thought that Senator Ramon was actually hiding something this big! I have to report this to the chief!"
Arlan frowned when he heard his words. "Uncle Fabian, can we trust Taguig Police Station's chief? We both know that Leandro and Senator Ramon are people with great connections. I don't think it is wise to casually give such sensitive information to someone."
Fabian furrowed his eyebrows. "You mean you don't trust the chief?"
Arlan shook his head. "I haven't seen him yet so I don't know what kind of person he is."
"Then why do you trust me? Why are you telling me such an important information?" Fabian stared seriously at Arlan.
Hearing this, Arlan smiled as he interlocked his fingers. "The moment those guys tried to kill you, I knew that you are not my enemy."
Fabian's eyes flashed at his words and he soon broke into a smile. "So you were doubtful about me before." He muttered while shaking his head.
"You can't blame me, Uncle Fabian. There are many police officers who are involved with criminals so I had to be careful on who I should give my trust." Arlan shrugged.
"So you what do you want me to do?" Fabian asked with narrowed eyes.
"I want you to take down Diego. In return, I will give this evidence to you as a gift. If you can do this beautifully, I believe becoming a lieutenant isn't impossible. The higher-ups might even consider giving you the captain position. After all, this isn't a small matter..." Arlan tapped on the hard drive as he uttered those words.
Fabian took a deep breath when he heard his words. It was an enticing offer, but it was also filled with danger. It wasn't easy to eliminate Diego, a top member of Leandro's drug cartel. He would have to mobilize the entire Taguig Police Station and employ the help of another station to have an assurance of victory. "I have underestimated you, Arlan..." He muttered while looking at the man in front of him. Arlan was about half his age, but it felt like he was in the presence of a seasoned veteran. He didn't even notice until now that Arlan was leading the conversation the whole time for this very moment.
The offer was something he couldn't decline. He was an ambitious man, but he didn't know someone who could back him up. If he accepted Arlan's offer, he would gain a solid backer who could help him realize his ambitions.
It was a trap that Arlan has laid out for him, but he knew that he had to jump into this trap if he wanted to achieve his long-forgotten dream.
