Chapter 114 Alvin's Journey

Chapter 114 Alvin's Journey

"Sigh…. Alvin, I hope you're doing okay wherever you are"

This was the last thought in Elric's mind as he prepared to start off his day. Unfortunately what he didn't know was that Alvin's current situation was more dire than he could ever imagine.

........

A week had passed since separating from Elric, and at this moment it was no exaggeration to describe Alvin with the word haggard.

With dry scabs all over his body, a slight limp whenever he took a step, and a few claw marks on his clothes, Alvin could have been said to have gone through a lot this past week.

However, what was most eye-catching about him was his right arm.

Unlike what he and Elric initially expected, after leaving Hogwarts, the speed of erosion from the abyss increased at an alarming rate.

So much so that Alvin at one point was considering chopping off his arm; unfortunately before leaving he had already brought up that idea to Elric who directly told him it was impossible.

According to Elric, the abyss aura has already been imprinted on his whole body, and it's only physically manifesting itself through his right palm.

Meaning that even if he cut off his right palm, the change hole probably just occurs on another part of the body.

Shaking his head, Alvin looked at his right arm with a strong hatred in his eyes.

At this point, from the top of his elbows down to the extreme tip of his fingernails, Had already begun to show abyss demon-like characteristics as they were completely covered with red scales emitting a black sulphur-like gas from time to time

Resisting the urge to chop off his arm, Alvin sat on a rock and began to think of his next course of action.

Now a week had passed since leaving Hogwarts, and a lot had happened to him since then

From the first day, he accidentally encourage two three metre long giant snake-like beasts and had to fight them both to escape

Luckily, it seemed that along with the gradual demonization, Alvin could feel his physical strength and ability to sense mana increasing every second

Due to this change, he managed to escape both of them, although with serious injuries in the end.

Thinking back to that fight, Alvin still had shivered as that was one of the closest he had come to facetime death.

And unfortunately for him, that wasn't the last

Over the course of the week, with the goal of getting farther and farther away from Hogwarts as possible, Alvin encountered all kinds of beasts, many of which he had never seen before through which he had to fight in order to make his way forward.

Thankfully, this allowed Alvin to make up for the much-needed battle experience which he severely lacked

As one of the first wizards under Elric, Alvin could count the number of battles he had encountered and fought with the palm of his hand

Unlike Davis who even before becoming a wizard was the former protector of their tribe or Elric whose strength seems to know no bounds.

Due to this, Alvin had always considered himself the weakest among the group and always wanted an opportunity to improve himself.

Now, although he had gained a lot of experience this past week, unfortunately he couldn't test out his strength with Davis or George due to his current situation.

Sighing slightly, Alvin looked at his arm with a hint of hesitation

Throughout this week, apart from the unstable emotions that came with his demonization, a voice at the back of his Alvin's head had been sending him some messages

Although Alvin wasn't sure how he understood it, he could clearly tell what the voice was trying to convey.

Remembering the words the hesitation in Alvin's eyes became more intense

It started three days ago one night when he was sleeping, and in his dream a faint shadowy figure appeared before him

"Why resist young man, as long as you willingly embrace the abyss, power, wealth, immortality, all can be at the tip of your fingers!"

"To have the same life as the heavens and earth, to live with the sun and the moon, that could be your fate!"

As the figure spoke, his words and gestures seemed to possess a power so bewitching, that Alvin almost agreed on the spot

Thankfully, just before he could agree, the thread connecting him and Elric's small world suddenly shook waking him up

Now ever since then, although he didn't know the reason but whenever Alvin closed his eyes that same voice would sound in his mind

*No! You can't accept it. As long as you do that's practically equivalent to giving up on the young master's faith in you, and more importantly that's giving up on yourself!"

"But then again, didn't the young master already give up on you when he sent you out of Hogwarts?"

"No! He did this so everyone would be safe, and nobody would be in danger!"

All of a sudden, like a schizophrenic patient holding his head in pain, two opposing voices began to ring through Alvin's head as he constantly tried to fight off the temptation.

Luckily it seemed that his willpower hadn't weakened too much this week as after a few minutes of intense headaches, Alvin's face gradually returned to normal.

"It seems we have to hurry up and find a cure, or it seems I'll have to use my last resort!"

With a determined look in his eyes, Alvin had already begun to prepare for the worst outcome.

According to his thoughts, if it reaches the point where he has almost become fully demonised and hasn't found a solution, Alvin decided to directly end his own life so as not to become trouble for Elric and the others later on.

Silently making an oath to succeed, Alvin slowly stood up from the rock and limped into this distance hoping to find some inspiration or cure along the way while also distancing himself as far away from Hogwarts as possible.
