Chapter 705: Chapter 706: Reunion with the Kraken Boss
Li Xiaobai’s head felt as big as a bucket—this ‘viciously evil’ quartet seemed far from normal, and he found no opportunity to pick a fight and trounce them. It was better to leave quickly and avoid attracting the attention of this troublesome group.
‘Evil’ was still in the cave, arguing with itself. When it saw that he was about to leave, it burst into an uproar once again. However, ‘Good’ remained unmoved, no matter how fiercely the other raged, there was nothing it could do.
An argument was inevitable. Li Xiaobai remained silent and turned to leave.
The Blood Sacrifice Fragment wasn’t on this level; it looked like it had been placed on the seventh floor.
…
A few minutes later.
Li Xiaobai arrived at the entrance to the steps of the seventh floor.
This level contained the legendary Half-step Human Immortals. Unlike the floors below, the top level was a world of its own. At the entrance, there was only a stone wall, in front of which stood a small bronze pagoda, identical in design to the Linglong Pagoda, seemingly a miniature version of the Celestial Prison.
With a gentle twist, a ring of holes appeared on the stone wall. Stepping into it, he was greeted by a surge of scorching heat wave.
The world inside was a Magma Secret Realm, where molten rock churned and roared beneath the ground, and waves of heat rolled in. At the foot of the steps, there was hardly any place to stand, with fiery red waves striking the steps at times, splashing droplets of lava everywhere. In the center of the magma, a huge prismatic rock stood upright, piercing straight into the molten rock below.
Atop the prismatic rock, a gigantic azure Demonic Beast was impaled, fixed firmly in place. Chains thick as dragons twisted around it, heated by the fiery breath to a glowing red. They wrapped it tightly, both inside and out, its flesh charred where it touched the chains. One could even faintly smell a mix of roasting meat and burnt odor.
The Demonic Beast was plump and vast, with a rounded body and a thin pair of wings on either side. It was undoubtedly a Kraken!
“Hm?”
“Who’s there? Could it be that scoundrel, the Old Dragon King?”
A faint voice rose, echoing across the small Secret Realm.
“My name is Li Xiaobai, I am here in search of something. I did not mean to disturb you, Senior, please forgive me.”
Li Xiaobai couldn’t help but widen his eyes as he spoke; he recognized this form and voice all too well—it was none other than the Sea Clan leader he had met, trapped in the Three Sects Secret Realm underground not long ago, from whom he had thoroughly farmed Attribute Points. He hadn’t expected that the cultivator the Old Dragon King had caught was indeed that leader.
The Primordial Spirit Phantom that this leader had shown when he narrowly escaped was the very Kraken before him; it would be hard to find a second one like it in the world.
It had to be said that this leader truly had bad luck. He had barely escaped from the Three Sects Secret Realm when he was captured by the Old Dragon King and suppressed in this small world within the Celestial Prison.
“You must have some skill to have reached this far…”
“Hm? What did you say your name was?”
The originally calm Kraken suddenly opened its eyes wide, its small eyeballs shooting out a fierce light, staring fixedly at Li Xiaobai on the steps below.
“Senior, I hope you are well!”
“It’s been a while since we last met. I’ve missed you during this time,” Li Xiaobai said with a beaming smile, greeting warmly.
“You wretched thing, you actually show up here too, truly the heavens have eyes!”
“On the day you deliberately played me for a fool, I silently swore that one day I would make you pay, and here we are just a few months later—you too have been locked up here. You’re finished, you will die alone in this Celestial Prison, eternally sleeping in never-ending despair!”
The Kraken bellowed in rage, its chains clanging tumultuously as the quivering caused layers of magma to surge and enshroud them in an eerie red glow, pinning it firmly to the rocky surface.
As the saying goes, a grudge becomes a glaring red when enemies meet, and in its eyes, this Li Xiaobai was indeed its archenemy.
Back in the Three Sects Secret Realm, not only had Li Xiaobai refused to save it, but had also taken pleasure in mocking it. If it hadn’t been for its own cleverness, it still might have been trapped within the Three Sects, a humiliation worse than any it had suffered in hundreds of years!
The Old Dragon King would have to step aside—Li Xiaobai was the one it most wanted to take revenge on.
To be able to encounter him within the Celestial Prison was enormously satisfying; after all, the prison was truly a place with entry but no exit. This guy entering here was tantamount to being sentenced to death.
Watching the Kraken’s manic state, Li Xiaobai’s own heart was filled with mixed emotions, feeling deeply moved, “I had not expected that when we met again, the scene would be so strikingly similar—both of us trapped in a small world within a Secret Realm. Senior, you are still suppressed and unable to move, while I’m also trapped in this little world.”
“It’s truly a destined encounter over thousands of miles!”
“You scum, now confined within the Celestial Prison, cannot rely on those shoddy small worlds like the Three Sects Secret Realm. Even someone at the Half-step Human Immortal realm can’t escape, let alone you!”
“Here, nobody can save you. You can only spend your remaining days in this dark world without the light of day!”
“Enjoy your laughter while you can. Soon, you won’t be able to laugh anymore!”
The Kraken spoke indifferently, “It’s truly satisfying to see Li Xiaobai captured. Who would’ve thought the Old Dragon King would do something commendable.”
“But it seems, Senior, you are in an even worse state than I am—nailed to a column of shame, not only can you not move, you also have to endure the scorching of the magma day and night. That must be quite uncomfortable for a member of the Sea Clan, right?”
“The lower floors are more comfortable, warm in winter and cool in summer, and each floor has prisoners to chat with. Everyone lives harmoniously and joyfully, making the best of every day.”
“Compared to that, you truly are pitiful, Senior. After all, every time I see you, you’re being suppressed. Perhaps it’s the fate of the powerful to walk a lonely path through life.”
Li Xiaobai shook his head and sighed, his expression one of sympathy for the Kraken.
Hearing these words, the Kraken’s expression changed drastically. Its massive body writhed continuously, and the sound of thunder rumbled through the void as if it couldn’t contain its urge to act. But it was quickly subdued by the chains binding it.
Li Xiaobai’s words had profoundly provoked it; indeed, so what if this guy was brought inside? Among all the layers, it was the one suffering the most, unable to move in the slightest. It was the pitiful one who would die a lonely death in the endless darkness.
“Ah, it’s too hot on this level. They’re short one for cards downstairs—I’m off to make some friends. Take care of yourself, Senior.”
Li Xiaobai said with a smile, turning around ready to leave.
“Wait!”
“Kid, just saying hello and leaving is a bit rude, don’t you think?”
Seeing Li Xiaobai about to leave, the Kraken immediately became unsettled. Although it cursed fiercely, deep down, it longed for someone to talk to. It did not want to endure the loneliness again.
“Oh?”
“Do you have any further orders, Senior?” Li Xiaobai asked, feigning surprise.
“It’s been a while since I last saw you. I’ve been quite concerned about you. There’s no need to hurry off—let’s chat for a while.”
