Chapter ?680 Conjurer
"Hah…haah!" Slayer panted as he collapsed to the ground, gasping for air as he observed the world around him cracking in response before vanishing. He looked around, watching the five System Slayers rush to his rescue, standing before him in a hurry.
They glared at the entity that was standing on the other side, also exhausted, but sporting a wide grin.
"You've become terrifyingly strong, Gilthru." The Saint of Calamity smiled, dusting himself as his injuries healed rapidly, alarming the System Slayers.
Upon observing their reactions, he focused his attention on Slayer, noticing the other party's rather calm gaze as he said, "It seems you're aware of what I've been up to these days."
"It doesn't take much to predict what a sick bastard like you would do." Slayer got up with a start, perfectly cured now, in an optimal state as if he hadn't fought in the first place, his actions causing the other party to whistle in amazement.
"I've been staying true to my profession, you know." The Saint of Calamity smirked, "All I've been doing is to conjure new worlds out there that are under my conjuring powers. They help expand the conjuring profession."
"I know about that." Slayer frowned, his expression solemn, 'I understand what you're attempting to create.'
"What…is he on about now?" Balveta expressed her confusion, alert to attack the other party, having already prepared her Core Skills. If not for the fact that she noticed Slayer's life wasn't threatened in his fight with the Saint of Calamity, she and the other System Slayers would have interfered immediately.
"The Conjurer Genre, that's what he's attempting to create," Slayer said in all seriousness, watching the five System Slayers shudder in response.
Creating a genre was entirely different from simply building worlds out there. After all, whether it be the Systems or the other parties, all were classified based on their Genre.
And among the regular worlds, there existed entities that represented entire Genres.
Immortal that represented all Cultivation Worlds, Magister that represented all Magical Worlds, etc. There existed special beings that represented entire genres out there, the strongest enemies faced by the Systems to date.
Even the Systems were in the end a genre of their own, revolving around the System World.
And, it seemed the goal of the Saint of Calamity was to join the likes of Immortal and Magister by creating a stream of worlds solely limited to the power of Conjurers.
In their world, unlike the other professions, the Conjurer was a profession that had a Saint long before it even matured enough to have one. This meant that the entire profession was greatly dominated by just one individual.
And considering how most Conjurers stopped at the Master Realm, it meant that even in terms of the power dynamics of the Conjurers, the Saint of Calamity alone possessed the majority of power.
As the situation persisted for centuries and millennia, the Saint of calamity became an Apostle of the Conjurer profession, again before the profession developed enough to sustain one.
The moment he became an Apostle was when his will dominated over the profession, overriding the latter. From then on, he became the profession itself, dominating it ever since.
Had he become a Saint even a century later, this wouldn't have happened as the profession would have developed enough to maintain its free reign, just as what every other profession had.
But as he had already become the profession itself, the Saint of Calamity began his next step of operation, conjuring habitable worlds in the infinite cosmos, with the power systems of all related to the power of Conjurers.
And judging by the healing power he displayed, he had a world under him that conjured healing energy. As he was able to harness that power, it was apparent that he was already close to reaching the level of Immortal and the likes.
"In the future, address me as Conjurer." The Saint of Calamity smirked in response as he stared at Slayer, "Isn't that precisely why you go by the name of Slayer instead of your original name, Gilthru?"
"Well, I only came here to probe your strength. Now that I'm done with it, I'll take my leave." The Saint of Calamity, Conjurer waved his hand as his figure dissipated, "I'll be taking care of that individual you've been talking about."
"What the…?" Slayer was alarmed at the words, shouting in response, "Don't you dare interfere! I'll kill you!"
"I just found out that the both of us don't have the means to kill each other, so don't bother." Conjurer laughed as he vanished, "I'm surprised you haven't let go of this world even after everything it did to you. Well, too bad, you're slower than me."
"I'll be the first to attain my goal, especially with the help of the latest Main Character."
…
"Haah!" Compass Carburettor shouted as he shot dozens of bullets, killing all the Birdmen in his vicinity as everywhere he went past, corpses rained down from the skies.
He wasn't even using any Mental Energy and only relied upon the base power of Anthozoa—condensing bullets by sucking in and compressing air.
With the number of Coordinates he had consumed, even his base bullets were reinforced enough to casually shatter the defensive means of Master Witches. As for Grandmaster Witches, they only tanked a dozen bullets before dying too, displaying his fearsome might.
After all, it only took him a second to create as many bullets as needed to kill a Grandmaster Witch.
[Dad, you're strong]
[Brat, don't be careless. I'm only as strong as a Saint, so be on your toes all the time…]
Compass Carburettor hadn't even finished speaking when suddenly, his eyes widened, noticing a certain figure standing before him from some point in time.
Her senses went haywire as Stencil could see the Luck of both her and her father plummeting down rapidly, her eyes widening in shock as she rushed towards him, using up all her Mental Energy to create a portal to the System World. But, it was too late.
Time seemed to have slowed down as Stencil's expression collapsed, watching the portal she condensed stop growing halfway as her senses captured the opponent's mouth moving in response, producing a set of words that made no sense to her but caused her to despair.
"Zaira, cut off this world."
