Chapter 129: Pressing the Trigger

“Haapp!” Regriel shouted, expanding the barrier instantly to push back the Haggon’s hands, using the chance to shrink it before expanding it in one direction, slamming it into the Haggon’s face.

The rebound sent them flying towards the land when coincidently, the Haggon had swiped at them in anger upon getting its face attacked. This further sent them flying farther, causing them to crash into the shore when Regriel took action, expanding it instantly to jump further away, taking advantage of the momentum.

Even though it was just Overdrive (Level 1), it still allowed him to process his thoughts faster, quickly making use of the situation, leaving the lake’s surroundings as they entered the nearby forest.

“Argh!” Regriel shouted, slamming the barrier into the face of a Haggon that suddenly ambushed them. It seemed to have been sleeping within the ground after digging a pit for itself, causing the mound to resemble a tiny hill.

And when Regriel had scaled it up, the bait had alerted it, causing it to act up as it attacked them. Thankfully, it hadn’t fully exited the hole yet, allowing Regriel to swerve around it by causing his barrier to hit the nearby trees accordingly.

This way, he avoided it and continued to run through the forest, surviving attacks from the Haggons one after another.

‘Dammit! I don’t have any more Mental Energy left in me! If not for the effect of the Coincidental Luck still present on Regriel, he wouldn’t have survived for so long.’ The Slave Harem System was flustered, noticing the effect of the Coincidental Luck waning at an alarming level. ‘Regriel has to quickly obtain the Warble. The situation is too risky otherwise.’

It then sent him a prompt.

[Ding!]

[Quest: Implant the Darble]

[Quest Details: The situation is dangerous. Only by obtaining the power of the Warble would Host be able to survive.]

[Quest Failure: Death]

‘Dammit!’ Upon seeing the Quest details, Regriel was flustered, gazing at his right to see the face of the middle-aged lady beside him, ‘I wanted to do her before anything happens to her!’

He was also able to feel the power in him waning out. Before, it seemed like it was inexhaustible. But now, it was apparent that it was about to run out.

Like every single time, the hand of a Haggon exited from a nearby bush, coincidently slamming into the barrier, sending it flying. The barrier bounced on the ground, suddenly coming over a slope as it began to roll.

But after a couple of seconds spanned past, the barrier shattered, no longer able to maintain itself. Just when Regriel planned to activate it again, he was flustered, shouting, “Why can’t I activate it again?”

Despite his fluster, he was aware of the reason. The mysterious energy that he had been relying upon to use the Skill of Overdrive seemed to have been expended, causing their bodies to roll along the slope for a second before crashing into the canal below.

It was a narrow stream, only wide enough for their bodies to span its breadth.

“Guh!” Regriel gasped for breath, exiting the water that reached until his knee, quickly saving the middle-aged lady to see that she had held her breath in advance, hence remaining safe from the plunge.

Moreover, he noticed an emerald colour liquid leaking out from her. It was the bait powder that she had rubbed onto herself. Taking advantage of the situation, Regriel massaged her a bit, roaming his hands through her clothes, washing away any powder that might have remained on her, noticing the roars of the Haggons die down.

“Remove your hand, bastard! I’ll kill you!” The middle-aged lady cursed in response to his touch as her eyes spewed venom.

In response, Regriel laughed, noticing a cave nearby as he carried her, exiting the stream as they entered the cave, “I’ll make you mine, woman.”

“As if!” The middle-aged woman gathered all her strength, kneeling Regriel’s face as she fell on the ground, rolling a bit deeper into the cave, grunting, “Thanks for healing me. The effect of the poison is wearing off little by little. And you…you’ve run out of energy, right?”

It was apparent as to what she implied. Now that Regriel had run out of energy, the moment she was able to move was when his death would arrive.

“Heh!” Regriel got up, pressing his nose to spill out some blood, wiping his blood on his sleeve as he said, “True, I may not have enough energy to use my abilities. But, I can still make you mine.”

‘Do it!’ The Slave Harem System shouted, ‘Use the final Mental Energy on her. It should be enough!’

Slave Harem!

Regriel jumped onto her, extending his hand to come into contact with her skin, activating the ability, immediately noticing a connection form between them, ‘Finally! She’s part of my harem now!’

Bang!

Right as the effect of the Slave Harem was beginning to take effect in the middle-aged woman’s mind, her forehead suddenly sported a wide hold on it, dying instantly. Similarly, a couple of holes instantly appeared on his body too, causing him to slump to the ground in confusion, failing to realise what had happened when his leg bones broke suddenly.

‘Nooo! My Treasure!’ The Slave Harem System wailed in anger as its thoughts resounded in Regriel’s mind, resonating with him as it formed a Mental Energy stream, landing on the middle-aged woman.

Then, in their shock, both human and System noticed a humongous entity appearing behind the middle-aged woman, a young Haggon as it looked at them, grinning before its body morphed, turning into a human man, “It seems my surgery had indeed fooled you. Well, technically, I had indeed become a woman.”

“W-What? W-Who are you? How did you come here?” Regriel was alarmed, looking at the naked man before him, one that shared some resemblance to the middle-aged woman.

Though, he was ignored as the man said, “But since it was conducted without giving enough time for my body to adjust, I was already dying. At most, I would have lived for another half a day as a woman. Anyways, it worked great.”

“It took a lot of pain to arrive at this point. I have no hatred against you, Regriel.” The man said, condensing a gun in his hand as he pointed at Regriel, “But, I need your power, a System’s Power. Only then can I achieve my objective. Farewell, Slave Harem System.”

Bang!
