Chapter 208: Inform The Damn Danger First!

Compass Carburettor arrived at the parking lot, noticing that the vehicles were slightly damaged, with traces of blood splashed upon them. It was apparent that those that tried to flee were chased after by the mongooses and hunted down in the end.

He looked around, spotting countless torn dresses, fishing through them while controlling his aversion, taking out a pair of keys. He clicked a button on it, watching a car beep in response before being unlocked.

Even though his mood was sombre at the sight of countless deaths, he didn't wish to lament about everything. He repeated in his mind of the fact that he wasn't a hero and to stop his emotions from being swayed so much.

'I guess it's just in my character.' He sighed in the end, kickstarted the car, and began to drive through the road.

He didn't head towards the town but began to make his way towards Feora City. He avoided the location where Krager and Rhizen were fighting.

Even though it seemed like Krager would die after fighting Rhizen, if it was so easy, then the Coincidental Luck System wouldn't have employed him.

Krager would have enough Mental Energy to make a timely escape. After all, just as he thought as such, he heard the two people disengaging from their fight to head in separate ways.

It wasn't that Rhizen didn't wish to kill Krager. But, the moment the other party had seen him, he targeted him.

So, Rhizen had no other choice but to retaliate. But, he wasn't able to use his tail for the time being as he didn't have any pearl with him. So, all he did was fight hand-to-hand against Krager.

As for the other party, he didn't wish to show his abilities and had behaved like he was only targeting Rhizen because of the state of things on Mount Craire.

He acted like he had suspected Rhizen to be a serial killer. Though, as they continued to fight, both parties came to a consensus, deciding that they weren't the perpetrators of this incident. After that, they just went in their respective ways, heading towards the town.

The only reason Krager had even decided to fight Rhizen was that he coincidentally ran into the other party. And, to prevent any suspicion from being raised on him and to prevent Rhizen's luck from actively acting against him, he had taken such an action.

His System was also strangely talkative this time, causing him to be especially wary against Rhizen.

As for the Beast Form System, it was in a state of fluster. For, the Directional Misalignment System had vanished from their group right as it was chatting there. So, it meant one thing. Their enemy had struck Neena abruptly and killed her.

And, it—the Directional Misalignment System—hadn't even managed to sense anything amiss before being killed. Usually, even though it lacked experience, a Hatchling System was still able to identify a System Slayer.

After all, even if they tried to be as low-profile as possible, in order to get enough cheats to help themselves further, their actions were always high-profile. Even if they tried to mask it as much as possible, a System would still be able to sense their existence.

But, Compass Carburettor hadn't done anything of the sort. From the start, he hadn't gained any advantages, closely journeying alongside three System Hosts like they were companions. No System Slayer ever dared to do so, always planning and scheming from afar.

Only when they took action would they make their presence known. But he…was different from the rest.

And such a scene alerted the Systems that were part of the group. It wasn't the first time a Hatchling System had been killed. But usually, judging based on the way of its death, they would be able to glean some clues about the System Slayer.

But now, there were no clues. It just happened…naturally. That was what alerted all the Systems, causing them to realise that a troublesome foe had been brought by the Coincidental Luck System this time.

This was also the reason the Beast Form System wished to leave the place as soon as possible and regroup with the other System Hosts. That way, they'll be able to make a better plan.

It had already failed its task, so it didn't have any other use being at the place.

Compass Carburettor frowned as he drove through the highway, feeling a weird sense of disturbance in the air. He picked up his phone, dialling Grisha, watching the call go through after an alarming ten seconds of silence, "Where are you?"

"I'm…hiding at home…" Grisha's voice full of fear resounded, "I've been trying to call you all along, but the call didn't go through."

"I was at a place with no signal reception," He replied, asking, "Are you alright? What's the situation there?"

"There was something strange going on with Dr. Gregesh. At first, I returned home, but I couldn't just sit still as that strange sensation continued to make me anxious. So, I returned to the research institute, only to see that it had been on lockdown. The police had barricade entry into it and had surrounded it."

"That wasn't all…" She said, expressing a mild state of panic, "There has been some trouble accessing the internet since afternoon. And now, even loading the home page takes a lot of time and a basic search takes about a couple of minutes at the bare minimum. Some of the areas with a weaker bandwidth have lost all access to the internet."

"It just doesn't make any sense!"

'I see, so followed by the first event on Mount Craire, the descent of the apocalypse has been accelerated a lot. That seems like the perfect setting for a story.' He thought, saying, "How's the situation there? Just remain inside until I return. I'll be there in a couple of hours."

"Please…hurry…" Grisha's weak voice resounded as Compass Carburettor could hear some thumping sounds in the background.

"Grisha…what's that in the background? Hello?" He shouted in worry, noticing the signal turning static before noticing that the phone signal had died completely.

"Dammit!" He threw the phone aside, "If the situation is urgent, talk about it first! Have you never seen an action movie?"

Grunting in frustration, he pressed the accelerator to the limit, proceeding at almost the top speed of the car, speeding through the highway.

Along the way, he frowned, his face paling as the width of the road began to reduce, with grass beginning to encroach upon it at a noticeable rate.
