Chapter 286: Scheming While Afraid

It was nighttime in the desert as Compass Carburettor was seated out in the open, unaffected by the dropping temperatures. He was in his Haggon form, after all, constantly downing the nutrient solution that was being produced by the Vitality Bowl.

There was still a fairly long way to go before he recovered all his Darlac. Still, thanks to the massive stomach capacity of the Haggon, he was able to eat as much as he needed without worrying that his stomach would become full.

Haggons had a rather quick digestion capacity, allowing him to replenish his Darlac reserves at a rapid pace.

In his human form, despite being aided by various Skills, 400-500 Darlac was the amount he could replenish in a day if he ate whenever there was any gap in his stomach.

In his Haggon Form, he only needed a couple of days to replenish his reserve of 10,000 Darlac completely. 'If I ate some three-horned mutated beasts, my recovery would have been even faster.'

Now that he was in the middle of nowhere, Compass Carburettor had a lot of free time to cool his head and think about his next course of plans, 'The things I left in that fortress are only effective against Systems due to the vulnerability of their Hosts. A True System Slayer has virtually no weaknesses.'

He sighed, massaging his forehead, gazing at the Vitality Bowl as he scooped up the soup using his energy blade that was shaped into a bowl, lighting a fire underneath it, heating it up before drinking it.

It was hard for him to eat cold things, especially since he had to consume a lot of them. So, he was just heating things a little.

'The Elf seems to possess magic-related abilities. That's troublesome.' He sighed, 'Especially since I don't know the true extent of its magic, I cannot take any measures against it.'

"What do I do now?" He was worried, for the first time unable to think of any solution to his problem. "Do I have to give up now?"

"No," He exhaled in irritation, "It'll be a waste to use Permanence this soon. There's still a lot that I can obtain before using that."

He then thought long and hard, "If I assume its magic to be based on what I've read to date, then judging by how that magic circle constricted me, it should be spatial magic. And that's troublesome…"

"Spatial magic…" He muttered, recalling the list of Systems that had arrived at this world, "I guess that's the only way I can protect myself against magic."

"Hopefully, I'm able to find them," He closed his eyes, beginning to sleep, waking up after an hour as he filled his stomach once again before continuing with his sleep.

In the evening of the next day, Compass Carburettor nodded in relief, having mostly replenished his Darlac reserve. By absorbing the Darlac, Dita and the goldfish too were healing. But, they hadn't made a full recovery yet, so he wasn't able to use them.

Even after his Darlac reached the limit, he continued to stay at the Desert, taking the time to research his abilities to find new means of use.

With that, he returned to his human form and sat cross-legged, meditating, taking on the complete view of the Mental Energy Form, only able to see the streams of Mental Energy flowing into him.

His Mental Energy Form had already reached its limit in development before, but now, it had begun growing once again. And that was thanks to the dimensional storage.

After it was integrated into the Mental Energy Form by connecting some nerves into it, the Mental Energy within began to flow through the Mental Energy Form, circulating constantly. It had become an important part of him.

"In the future, my growth would primarily depend on it. So, I must lay the foundations for it now." Muttering as such, he focused on the Thermometer in the Mental Energy Form that represented his Skill of Health (Level 10).

He willed for it to move, slowly moving it within the Mental Energy Form, bringing it closer and closer to the sphere that represented his dimensional storage.

He created countless nerves around the thermometer, joining them to create a gigantic nerve within which the thermometer was stuck now. Slowly, he extended their edges before connecting the nerves to the sphere, watching the Mental Energy flow out from within and course through this gigantic nerve.

He then willed it to move, pushing it closer to the sphere before making the two connect. As the Mental Energy flowed between the two, he slowly began to will their fusion, seeping the thermometer into the sphere before finally, followed by a burst of energy, the thermometer vanished.

Thump! Thump!

Suddenly, the sphere began to pulse as if it was a beating heart, circulating Mental Energy with an easier pace through the Metal Energy Form.

"Success!" He was pretty excited at the result, summoning his Status to see that the Skill of Health had vanished from it. But, he wasn't affected, but rather felt as if he had become healthier.

The effect of Health seemed to have been amplified. "So, it indeed works."

The first example of this kind was Grisha. He had shot the System Fragment of Minor Healing into her to heal her wounds before. And, once all her wounds were healed, there was still plenty of the healing effect remaining within. So, it buried itself deep into her body.

And, when she obtained a mutated beast ability, this power manifested, turning into her wand, allowing her to heal others.

The second case was Dita, having devoured all the Skills that he had bestowed it, condensing the power to leap into the spaces of others as a result after its evolution.

Both the examples allowed him to glean a single info: This power system was able to consume abilities related to Systems and condense them in a mutated beast ability as a result.

As to what could be condensed from it, he couldn't guess. 'But, that Grade 4 System should have definitely done something to this world. If I played my cards right, I can feel its possibility.'

'Of a third Personal Fragment.'
