Chapter 297: Find A Purpose In Life
"What's the use of arriving now? Huh?" The youth let out maniacal laughter as he slowly teared up, slumping to the ground as he despaired, muttering weakly, "My family is already dead. What the heck am I supposed to do?"
In response to his weak shouts, the mysterious spatial entity was silent.
Upon seeing that he was able to move freely again, the youth stood up, gasping for air as he pointed a finger at the other party, "I don't need any help."
"Sure," The mysterious spatial entity replied in its ethereal voice, "I'll just consider this summon as bogus then."
Saying so, the mysterious spatial entity began to head towards the terrace. The youth stared at its back for a dozen seconds, suddenly shooting forth upon seeing the other party leave his line of sight.
He hurriedly reached the terrace, watching the entity condense a pair of jet-black wings that glittered with starlight and take off into the air. He immediately shouted, "Wait!"
The flapping of the wings slowed down as the mysterious spatial entity turned around and looked at the youth, causing him to shudder under the gaze for some reason.
"Why…I mean…what…" The youth hesitated before asking, "What are you? Did you really come here because of my prayers?"
"In the ancient times, I was revered by the name of Gahrat by a small mountainside village. When the village was annihilated, I disappeared from all human records." The mysterious spatial entity spoke.
"Where was this village?" The youth asked immediately.
"Around twenty kilometres from Feora city." The mysterious spatial entity replied.
"What…am I supposed to do now? Tell me!" The youth shouted after that, sporting an expression of fluster, indecisive, "My family is dead. I don't have any close friends either. I don't have anything to live for…"
"But, you still don't wish to die, right?" The mysterious spatial entity said, watching the youth nod in response while shedding tears.
"I'm just scum, wishing to live even after losing my family." The youth let out a self-deprecating laugh.
"Wishing to live is human instinct. There's nothing wrong with desiring that." The mysterious spatial entity said, suddenly raising its hand to summon a cylindrical object that seemed like it was made from pearls. It threw it at the youth, surprising him as he caught hold of it.
"What is this?" Wiping his tears, the youth looked at the palm-size cylinder, unable to determine what it was.
"If you are curious, apply your blood on it. You'll understand." The mysterious spatial entity spoke.
The youth didn't even hesitate as he bit his thumb and began to apply his blood on the cylinder, forming a coating on its surface. Immediately after that, it turned into a ray of light and swerved into his body, causing a surge of information to gush into his mind.
Clutching his head, the youth fell flat on the ground, grunting as he understood the information influx, slowly getting up as he was shocked, "Such a thing…was possible?"
Right at this time, the mysterious spatial entity dropped a leather scroll, "Find a purpose in life. Live until you find it."
"If you are facing difficulties, find other people to share your worries with." Saying its piece, the mysterious spatial entity flapped its wings and sped through the air. And followed by a burst of wind, it vanished, forming a streak through the clouds after a couple of sonic booms.
The youth stared at the scene for a good two minutes, watching the figure vanish as he sighed, "I never thought Gods were real."
He then picked up the leather scroll, reading aloud the details written in it, "External Items."
There was a total of eight External Items written in it, including the recipe related to creating them, shocking the youth. He gazed at the details of the External Item he possessed, muttering, "…Fortress."
As he gazed at the recipe of the Fortress, he was shocked, "Why does it need so many items?"
He calmed down, sighing in the end, "So, I should create these External Items and help the livelihood of others?"
He then paused, shaking his head, understanding his purpose as the words of the mysterious spatial entity resounded in his mind, "No, there are villains among humans. But most of us only wish to survive. So, if I find an innocent survivor, I'll save them. And if I find a villain, I'll kill them."
He clenched his hand into a fist, saying, "And these External Items would be what would allow us to survive."
He returned to his room and took out a pouch, within which he stored some orbs. He summoned an almost dead mutated beast, one that was his sword, killing it. Now that he had the extra space, he was able to swallow an orb.
With two working abilities, he had some confidence, muttering, "If memory serves right, there were some survivors in the villa of the next street. I should find them first and save them."
"But before that…" He muttered, reading through the leather scroll, "I should memorise everything. The information in this is too valuable. It should never fall into the hands of greedy individuals."
He then understood something, "I see. Is that why I was given the Fortress? That way, people would depend on me to live a comfortable life. And, since I hate villains, the life of those living in my fortress would be comfortable…"
He chuckled helplessly, tearing up, "As expected of a God. But…why didn't you come before, when I needed you the most?"
He wiped his tears, gazing at his family photo, "Fine, I won't become an edgelord. That's beneath me. Since I wasn't saved, I'll at least save others that are in a similar situation."
With that, he began to prepare, packing some items in a bag as he carried some weapons. He then gently patted his family photo, sighing as he placed it in the bag, leaving the apartment, heading towards the nearby villa.
The Grassmen were indeed troublesome, but thanks to his abilities, he was able to survive. It wasn't easy though as his life was at risk. But, as he had considered this to be the only purpose his life was left with, he erupted with all his potential, eventually managing to reach the survivors in the villa.
From there, he began to work on saving and creating a peaceful community.
