“Fine,” Caithy nodded as she turned around, intending to leave the place. As for Compass Carburettor and Fealta, they first gathered all the valuables and locked them up in a locker, also changing the password to prevent any other thug from stealing them during the chaos.
With that, they made their way up the same route they had entered, noticing the person that had opened up the entryway during their arrival now lay on a nearby sofa, dead. Caithy had killed him on her way out.
Through the interrogation session, they had obtained knowledge about everyone that was involved with the underground. So, it was easy for her to target the related ones in the vicinity of the abandoned workshop.
Moreover, to avoid alerting the rest of the underground organisation, she had also made a round through all the related houses, killing everyone involved. This way, information wouldn’t reach the ears of the thugs in other bases.
It would take time for it to happen. And before that, they planned to eradicate them all. Caithy swiftly began to make her way towards the City Gates, leaving it on a horse-driven carriage.
Compass Carburettor looked at Fealta, asking, “Do you have enough Darlac to raid the rest of the bases?”
“I hardly used any Darlac,” Fealta smiled, whispering, “The minimum requirement for becoming the Queen’s Royal Guard is 500 Darlac. So, I have more than enough to kill everyone in this City.”
‘That’s a tremendous sum.’ Compass Carburettor was amazed, then thinking of something as he asked, “Is the Queen a Transcendent?”
“No,” Fealta sighed as she shook her head, “Her Majesty has been trying all methods but has failed to enter that realm. Though, I believe in her. She’ll reach that level in the future.”
‘Just how much Darlac should one possess to reach that level?’ Compass Carburettor thought, wondering about it as he walked around nonchalantly. Information about Transcendents was limited, next to nothing.
Everything he knew was what he had figured out from the parchment Parlut had taken to his grave. After all, based on what was written, Grister and Parlut were both Transcendents.
He did exchange that information with Ephemella in hopes of learning more about it. But, luck wasn’t on his side.
Everything about that realm was a mystery. It referred to the peak power a human could achieve. And, it seemed to be a special state of being.
After all, unlike the cultivation stories he had read about where every stage gave a rise in power and new abilities, Darlac wasn’t like that. It was a simple additive energy that was related to one’s stamina.
The more Darlac they possessed, the longer they could perform an activity without getting tired. And, their ability to wield an Armament or Puppet was unrelated to their Darlac quantity. The only thing their Darlac quantity determined was how long they could control a Puppet or wield an Armament.
So, it was rather mystifying that there existed a state that needed numerous unknown conditions to be satisfied before one could attain it. Though, all it ended up doing was making Compass Carburettor excited.
He wished to see if it was possible to attain that power. After all, Darlac was just the condensation of stamina. So, theoretically speaking, as long as he understood it more, he would be able to awaken to it in the future on his own.
After all, once he returned to the System World, he would lose all his Darlac and everything associated with it. But, if he was able to naturally awaken it, then it would be amazing. Darlac wasn’t a mystical power that was present in nature and could only be attained in its source world.
It was something that was present in every living being. So, as long as he figured out a method, he would be able to permanently obtain it in the future. That way, he’ll have a permanent power that he could rely upon other than his gun.
Just that fact that it was a supplement to his stamina was tremendously beneficial. After all, thanks to it, he could run for kilometres at a stretch and never be tired. Only after his Darlac was expended would he start to get tired.
The benefits were tremendous. And most of all, it was something attainable. So, he wished to see and understand just what a Transcendent was. That way, he’ll obtain a trump card while exploring other worlds. With greater advantages, he’ll have a better time hunting Systems.
Having boarded a carriage, Fealta and Compass Carburettor reached a building that led into another gambling den. And just as before, they had repeated the same, killing everyone within while interrogating the head of the place.
As they had already killed the Boss, it was easier to kill the rest scattered around in other smaller gambling dens. Once Compass Carburettor exited a gambling den, he summoned his gun and threw it towards the building’s rooftop, causing it to absorb as much sunlight as possible while condensing bullets.
In the meantime, he and Fealta boarded another carriage and proceeded towards their next gambling den. And all the time, they wiped out everyone, ensuring information about their activities wouldn’t reach the ears of others and cause them to become prepared.
The moment someone thought of it, Compass Carburettor would receive their Mental Energy stream. He and Fealta would trail the other party and kill them in a random alleyway.
Thanks to Kepadora, most of the aristocrats in the city barely did their work. So, the response from the guards was lacking. Rather, none of them had even sensed the carnage that was happening around the city.
It would take time before the civilians stumbled upon the corpses sleeping within the houses connected to the underground. And by the time it happens, their task would be complete.
With Fealta by his side, Compass Carburettor could simply jump into the middle of the fight and eradicate them all. The Armament she possessed had a greater Darlac output. So, the energy blade she condensed was stronger and sharper than the ones possessed by the people in the underground.
So, even when they defended against her attacks, her energy blade simply broke past their defences and riddled their bodies into two. As for anyone that proved to be troublesome, Compass Carburettor shot them.
His bullet was capable of penetrating their shields and killing them. And by nightfall, they had eradicated the entire underground of Peckle City, a force that had more than three thousand people.
