Chapter 83: Memory Erasure

‘If I lost a strand of hair for every lie I spoke in the last month, I would have become bald by now.’ Sighing, Compass Carburettor gazed at the two servants in action.

Fealta and Caithy stared at the symbol intently, slowly hypnotising themselves. A couple of minutes later, the red stream between them turned green as Compass Carburettor hurriedly condensed his symbol—Secret Society—and placed one on each, immediately making them a member of Secret Society.

He then clapped loudly, using the sound as a disturbance, causing the hypnotisation the two servants inflicted onto themselves to come undone; their loyalty towards him dropped below 10 instantly. After all, they had remained loyal to Ephemella since birth, trained as such to one day become part of her Royal Guard.

And, that wasn’t something that could be changed unless a System was involved.

So, the moment their loyalty towards him dropped below 10, the curse of Secret Society activated, erasing all memory related to it. And, this included everything they had shared between themselves.

After all, Compass Carburettor was Secret Society himself. So, everything related to him and the actions they performed with him were erased.

And, it was a real-time process. After all, they were currently staring right at him. So, the moment their brain processed the information, the curse activated, erasing the respective memory. As the symbol was in their body, this was possible.

Though, it also meant that in the off chance their loyalty towards him reached 10, all their memories would return. And, it was guaranteed to happen in the future. After all, the symbol of Secret Society would be spread far and wide.

So, they were bound to cross paths in the future. Compass Carburettor wasn’t worried about that. After all, as long as they didn’t remember anything until he killed the Slave Harem System, it was enough for him.

His only goal was to prevent them from informing the Slave Harem System about anything—whether after being enslaved by Regriel or through their thoughts directed at him. After all, they were privy to all his cards and had seen him in action numerous times. Just the memory of him planning and executing his schemes was enough data for the Slave Harem System to figure out his thought process.

So, erasing their memories was a necessity.

“If I get a chance in the future, I’ll try to undo the curse. It’s not cool to lose more than a month’s worth of memories all of a sudden.” He sighed, carefully leading the two servants out of the cave as he instructed the Grogars, “Transport them to Ellipster and return to Peckle City. Remain in hiding there for at least four months before returning to Kettle City. After that, you may come back here.”

He also said, pointing at the Darble Crystals on the ground, “Pile some in a bag and leave it with these two.”

He then looked at a Grogar to whom he had bestowed upon the Skill of Intelligence, detailing it on what it had to write. It was a letter addressed to Ephemella, in order to prevent her from trying anything on Regriel that might offset his plans.

The Darble Crystals were a sort of bribe to her and compensation to the servants for both their services and for the fact that he had erased their memories. He then watched the Grogars carry the two servants out of the Dungeon as their silhouettes soon disappeared into the thicket of trees.

Since the two servants were being transported by the Grogars—in human forms—that were part of the Secret Society, their memory of the journey too would be erased. Once they regain consciousness, they would be in Ellipster.

As for the rest, the letter addressed to Ephemella would take care of things on that end. He then worked on the logistics, gazing at the two offspring of the previous Dungeon Boss—Denther.

Among the two, one had a loyalty of 41 while the other had a loyalty of 37. Strangely, their loyalty towards him had risen, most probably attributed to the Duchess as they were siblings.

Compass Carburettor thought things through, Bestowing the Grogar with the loyalty of 41 the Skills of Intelligence, Dexterity, Cognition, and Resting, “From now onwards, you’ll be called Dentle and would work with the engineer in Kettle City to learn all his skills. You’ll then pass on the knowledge to a team of Grogars here. Your task is to learn everything from him.”

“Yes, Lord Spirit. I won’t fail your task.” Dentle replied with a bow, having taken on a human appearance.

Compass Carburettor then looked at Defton, the name he had given to the other Grogar, Bestowing him the Skills of Intelligence, Resting, and Natural Recovery, “You’ll be in charge of all logistics from now on. I’ll teach you the basics. As for the rest, you can ask me when in doubt. I’ll clarify them.”

At the end of the day, the engineer was only a worker working for him for money. If possible, he wished to make the Secret Society obtain his skills. After all, he had numerous plans to abuse such knowledge to the limit.

With the basic level of setup installed in place, Compass Carburettor then approached Duchess, asking her, “Do you have any ways to remove one’s addiction to Kepadora?”

This was another thing weighing on his mind. After all, the aristocracy of Kettle City were completely prey to this drug. And, now that the underground was destroyed, their supply would be cut off, unless he wished to maintain it.

The moment they no longer had any Kepadora, the victims would turn into bloodthirsty humans that would go on a killing spree. It was bound to garner the attention of the Heroica Empire. And once an investigation was launched, details of Kepadora would be obtained.

And it was only time before the Grogar Dungeon would be discovered. Considering the heaps of Darble Crystals lying about in it, it was a no-brainer as to what the Heroica Empire would decide—they would raid the Dungeon.

In order to prevent that, he had to solve this drug problem first. And, what was simpler than asking it to the source that produced it?

“It’s possible,” As he had expected, Duchess nodded in response, “If we slightly alter its composition, we’ll be able to slowly cause the addicts to begin consuming it in lower amounts gradually until they would lose all interest in it.”
