Chapter 94: The Three Megwest Pearls

“There’s nothing here, no Armaments, and no Puppets.” Compass Carburettor frowned, “Seriously, what had happened here?”

Upon failing to find anything of value even after scouring through the entire building, the duo exited it and proceeded deeper into the Dungeon.

Suddenly, while they were travelling, Duchess frowned, relaying a piece of news, “This is a Level 3 Dungeon. And, it was called a State Dungeon since all the monsters here had been eradicated centuries ago. So, it was fully occupied by humans.”

‘Then, what was with that massive skeleton?’ Compass Carburettor frowned, ‘And, why haven’t we come across any other buildings?’

“Lord Spirit, aren’t we wasting a lot of time? Shouldn’t we hurry towards Mohart Dungeon and prepare our scheme first?” Duchess said, stopping, “There is nothing here from what we have witnessed till now.”

“Yes, but,” Compass Carburettor said after some thought, “I feel like we would figure out something important here. This is after all a major settlement for humans based on what was recorded. And see the state of things around you. Something has definitely happened here.”

“I feel like this secret might help us later.” He spoke.

“But, based on the records, this is a peak Level 3 Dungeon with a radius of 150 kilometres. And there are three floors of such a massive area. We can’t afford to travel such a massive distance and make a round trip. It would take us many days to do so. And, we don’t have enough provisions to last us that long if we were to use the Katia.” She made a long retort.

“The distance is indeed worrisome,” Compass Carburettor frowned, thinking as he said, “Are there any flying monsters in this region?”

“Let me ask,” Duchess said, immediately contacting the team present within the Heroica Empire’s General Library.

Half an hour later, she replied, “There’s only one. And that’s in one of the three Megwest Pearls.”

Megwest Pearls; they were what the three Level 5 Dungeons of the Great Megwest Empire were called.

Normally, as long as an Empire was capable of maintaining itself while raiding a Level 5 Dungeon, they would grow in strength and eventually attain the status as a Great Empire. But, the Great Megwest Empire had three Level 5 Dungeons.

And, they had been around for more than a couple of millennia without collapsing, displaying their sheer prowess and stability. And, these three Level 5 Dungeons were the beating hearts that vigoured this Great Empire.

After all, the radius of a Level 5 Dungeon ranged from 700-1200 kilometres. And, there were five such floors. A single Level 5 Dungeon spanned more area than the entire Great Megwest Empire. So, it could be seen as to the quantity of resources it contained.

The Great Empire also had numerous other Dungeons that they raided and occupied. As for any Dungeons Level 3 and below, all the Dungeon Monsters within had been eradicated. And, they were converted into settlements for the people to live.

This way, the Empire’s population grew exponentially, having a tremendous area to their reserve. Moreover, Level 4 Dungeons and above provided them all the resources needed to function their Great Empire.

And, there was one difference between a Level 3 and a Level 4 Dungeon. It originated from its Dungeon Boss. All the Dungeon Monsters, the Dungeon Boss included grew a Darble Crystal on their forehead that stored all their Darlac within.

Weak Dungeon Monsters didn’t have a Darble Crystal on their foreheads. But any monster with a bit of power grew at least a tiny Darble fragment. But, this Darble fragment only acted as a reserve of stamina.

No Dungeon Monster, Dungeon Boss included possessed any special power that was able to harness this reserve of Darlac for any other purpose than to act as their stamina reserve. But at a Level 4 Dungeon, the strongest of the Dungeon Monsters reached a special state of being, attaining explosive power.

Transcendence!

Upon attaining this state, they were able to use one form of Energy Blade freely using their own bodies, just like the Warriors among humans that managed to achieve Transcendence.

Normally, Dungeon Monsters were troublesome thanks to their tough bodies and their enormous Darlac reserves. Adding onto the ability to generate an energy blade, their danger level exploded exponentially.

Honestly, after obtaining so much information, Compass Carburettor muttered in surprise, “How does the General Library contain information related to Transcendence? I thought everything related to that stage of being was treated as top-secret?”

“It seemed to have been kept there by mistake,” Duchess said, “The book containing it was old and its pages were almost on the verge of crumbling into dust with touch. There are no signs of human contact on it for decades. As the General Library is ginormous, there are such secrets that are lying about in it, just waiting to be discovered.”

“As many generations exchanged ownership of power and authority, some information was bound to be lost.” Compass Carburettor nodded, “And it seemed these books have slipped through the net during such times.”

There could have been countless reasons for such a thing to happen. If he had to list, he could list at least a dozen reasons. But in the end, he didn’t bother with that, digesting the information he had obtained.

“Anyway, if we wish to find a flying monster, the Second Pearl Dungeon is our objective. But, it’s situated only a hundred kilometres away from Mohart Dungeon.” Duchess sighed, “What shall we do now?”

Among the Three Pearls, the first was Mohart Dungeon and the most terrifying of all Level 5 Dungeons. It was inferior only to the Level 5 Dungeon said to be the birthplace of the Legendary Spirits.

The Second Pearl was Kuvert Dungeon and was full of cliffs within. Flying-type monsters were dominant in this Dungeon.

“Hmm,” Compass Carburettor calculated, sighing in the end as he said, “If we have a flying type Monster as a member, our life becomes easier. We would be able to scout throughout the place without any time constraints. That would also reduce our journey time.”

“Let’s head towards the Kuvert Dungeon first,” Compass Carburettor said as they began to retreat, “We’ll fly towards it as quickly as we can using our Katia.”
