Chapter 134 Misbehaving

Chapter 134 Misbehaving

After a couple of days, Yu Chen had finally woken up.

He heard an annoying beeping sound somewhere close by and his brows knotted. He quickly remembered everything that had happened as he opened his eyes and his thought was immediately occupied by nothing but Luo Xiaolei. The urge to see her blazed within him as the flashback of the scene that night flashed in his head.

Yu Chen lifted his hand but something stopped it. When he glanced down and saw the IV pulling at his hand, he moved to rip it off, but again, someone caught his hand, stopping him.

His brows were pulled together as he turned his head slightly but when he saw the face of the person occupying his dreams, his forehead smoothed back and he fell in a daze.

Her face was inches away from his and her chin resting on the edge of his pillow. He felt immediately revitalized upon seeing her.

"Luo... Xiaolei," was the first sound that came out of his lips.

"Mm. I’m here." She replied and then, he tried to sit up, but Luo Xiaolei was quick to push him gently down onto the pillows, shaking her head.

"Stay put, okay? Wait a moment, I’m going to tell them you’re awake." She sounded calm but her eyes were flooded with emotions as she looked at him. She looked extremely glad that he was finally awake.

But before Luo Xiaolei could take a single step away from him, Yu Chen caught her wrist. "Don’t leave." He said and for a moment, Luo Xiaolei saw a glint of terror in his eyes, as if he was afraid of her leaving. She wasn’t sure if what she saw was just some hallucination but looking at him at that moment and hearing him telling him not to leave, Luo Xiaolei couldn’t bear to go.

"Okay, I’ll just... call Gu Jinyang then." She was quick to give in. She moved even closer to him and lifted his gauze-wrapped hand from the bed and held it gently in hers, careful not to disrupt the wire connecting him to one of the monitors, before she made a call.

After calling Gu Jinyang, the room went silent. Luo Xiaolei stood there, just right beside him. They both stared quietly deep into each other eyes for an immeasurable amount of time. For some reason, Luo Xiaolei was lost for words.

"Are you alright?" Yu Chen was the one who broke the silence. His deep voice was just beautiful as always despite the lingering worry in them.

As if a certain button had been switched, Luo Xiaolei was jolted back to life.

"Mm. I’m absolutely fine now. I have recovered very well and I’m not injured anywhere so there’s nothing for you to worry about." She started smiling wide as she spoke, reassuring him that she was really alright now the best way she could because she could tell he was still worried about her.

Gladly, her energetic and bright expression made Yu Chen felt immediately relieved. He felt like he could finally breath again.

"Don’t worry about me. You’re only job now is to heal, okay?" she added, smiling gently as ever as she subconsciously caressed his cheek with the lightest of touches.

And then, suddenly, the beeping of the monitor jumped around erratically, causing Luo Xiaolei to widen her eyes and anxiously looked at him.

"Are... are you alright?!" she was starting to panic. The beeping sound made her so nervous she almost screamed for help. But to her surprise, Yu Chen was flushing as he stared at her before he averted his gaze away from her.

"I’m fine," he said. He sounded embarrassed and even though she was still in surprise, there was no way she could ever ignore this man when he was like this. His hair was messy and the dark circles in his eyes were heavily visible and yet he was still so devastatingly good looking!? ’Damn, Yu Chen! Are you serious? How could you still distract me with your beauty even at times like this? Please stop distracting me!’

"Are you sure? I think we should really call the doctor now..."

"I’m fine. My heart just misbehaved."

"H-huh? Mis...behaved?"

"Mm. And you’re the cause of it."

Yu Chen watched Lou Xiaolei’s lips slightly parted upon hearing what he had said. He stared at her with those sincere eyes as he held her hand. And then, he looked down as he gently pulled her hand towards his heart, slowly.

The beeping noise accelerated again the moment her palm landed on his chest. "Do you believe me now?" he glanced up at her through his long dark lashes and Luo Xiaolei felt her mind almost went blank. She was anxious, on edge, just a second ago, but here she was now, dazed and fascinated by his every words and actions.

She could hear the beeping sound loud and clear and she could feel his heart thumping against her palm.

At that very moment, Luo Xiaolei felt like she was intoxicated and hopelessly mesmerized. She couldn’t help but flush as she felt the heat flooding her face all the way to her hairline. However, she didn’t jump to any conclusion. Apart from the fact that she found it hard to believe that she really did cause such chaos in his heart just by touching him, Luo Xiaolei did not forget that he just used the word ’misbehaving’ in describing it.

But then, unexpectedly, Luo Xiaolei suddenly leaned in on him, her eyes never moved away from his. She looked like she wanted confirmation to make sure of it.

As she bent slowly closer to his face, the monitor went even wilder. But she didn’t stop. She was like a naughty little child testing a bomb whether it would explode or not.

Then, abruptly, but very gently, her lips pressed lightly to his. Although she kissed him with the gentlest of pressure...

...suddenly, the beeping stopped altogether.
