Chapter 154: Medusa Rainbow Scales
The abomination's roar reached the sky.
The dark clouds dispersed in all directions, then its other paw emerged from the dungeon's depths. Its claws tore through the ground as its lion's head reared.
The whole battleground froze under the beast's eyes.
In those beast eyes, a deep hatred toward mana lingered. It didn't conceal any of its emotions, causing goosebumps to crawl throughout the players' bodies.
That existence didn't care about anything.
It was born out of the world's hatred toward living beings, its whole purpose being to eat mana!
More of its body left the dungeon, and it soon towered before everyone.
It was a giant existence with many beast bodies stitched together.
Lion's head, goat's body, snake tail, and wings of an unknown existence!
Its body was also laced with dark scales.
ROAR!
Its jaw parted, and it let out a disgusting stench. That stench penetrated through all players, lowering their defenses and skills proficiency.
[Your mana is going wild!]
[Your mana regeneration is slower.]
[You can muster around 50% of your mana.]
[Your skills have been weakened by half.]
Those messages appeared in most players' eyes.
Stronger individuals with unique classes had around 25% effects. Although it showed their strength, it was still a significant drop in their power.
Reylin remained composed before the abomination's body.
He eluded the saliva drops, then rushed away from it with his ghost and player forces following him, "I have to find Lion Ghost first. You go and prepare your flame skills for my signal."
"I have noticed something, Reylin," Callan said before he parted ways with Reylin, "Those scales remind me of one existence... If I am correct, then those are Rainbow Medusa Scales..."
"What are these?" Reylin asked and urged Callan to speak faster as The Abomination's eyes shifted and he looked at them.
Callan rattled off, "In her snake form, Medusa was indestructible. She could adapt her scales to any element... Her peak form made her whole snake body rainbow-colored, and no element could scratch her. Be it darkness or light, no force wounded her... It's amazing how the ascended managed to seal the beast with those scales!"
"Don't come out with those ascended now," Reylin smiled bitterly, "If I use my flames, that existence will turn its scales to full fire resistance... I don't think anyone else has enough damage to kill it... This leaves us without any options."
[Crown Reylin: Attack it with various element skills and look at its scales.]
Reylin left the message, then went to find the Lion Ghost.
That existence trembled out of sadness as it looked into its king's eyes. Those eyes were the same, yet much different consciousness controlled those.
A pain, grief, and sorrow mixed within Lion Ghost's body.
Reylin appeared to quench those emotions and bring some hope, "On my way here, I thought about one solution. We will beat those scales, but we won't be able to kill the abomination. However, you can separate its parts."
Lion Ghost languidly turned its head toward Reylin, "Are you... serious?"
"I am," Reylin replied with confidence in his words, "But I will tell you one thing. You can separate your Lion King's body from The Abomination, but my priority will be the scales."
"I see..." Lion Ghost nodded.
Reylin put more importance on those scales. Should his plan work, he would take all of them and use his powers to enhance the player's party.
The Lion King's body... and even other bodies were secondary.
"I've confirmed that dark matter people are here... Well, it's not a big of a surprise, is it? They will try to thwart our plans. Worst case, they will just snatch all bodies from themselves. That's why I am saying that my priority will be the scales." Reylin added.
"I understand this... But wouldn't it be better for you to spare some forces for my king? Your girlfriend would benefit the most out of it! Think about her!" Lion Ghost used a gf card.
"Haha... Yes, that's true. Rainbow scales also will benefit her. Imagine a Rainbow Sword that can cut through every element. That's my goal. And with those scales, I can make a few of those, to say nothing of armor and other stuff," Reylin replied with a smile.
He added, "Think of it as a long-term plan, then. You will separate the body first, then we will save the king from King Julian's hands."
Lion Ghost nodded, "I look forward to your spectacle, Crimson Dragon."
"It will not be my spectacle, though," Reylin smiled, then extended his hand, "Take this ring. Once The Abomination suffers a severe blow from us, you will enter its body and separate bodies through the Crown System."
"Understood..." The Lion Ghost's body experienced a significant change!
Reylin wasn't sure about it since Lion Ghost wasn't a fire race.
It worked, so he didn't think much of it further...
'Now, I also got more abilities for Aria... If he plants my system in the abomination, even if it's just for a second, I will also snatch a little of its skills,' Reylin thought as he strutted toward his friend.
He would've helped and spoken with the Lion Ghost differently if he could. He would use another way to satisfy both parties if that was only possible.
Alas, it was not.
Lion Ghost might not like it, but he also didn't have any other chance!
Reylin chose what was more important for most of his friends and loved ones.
He sacrificed one, and that was... a king's quality!
"Terrifying existence... It literally eats mana with just existing," Reylin stared at the abomination and its roars. It naturally moved toward Reylin, but countless players barraged it with their abilities.
Scales shone on its body, and it just momentarily stopped.
No scratch or wound appeared on its body!
Not even a dent!
"What can we do? It's so big too... Can I fight it?" Reylin's friend and a crucial person in his plan whispered as she held her sword.
Her eyes hovered on the beast, then those beautiful black hues dilated as the beast's attention landed on her.
Well, that was because Reylin appeared behind the hero.
"I like them big," Reylin chuckled, then patted Maya's shoulder, "We can beat it together, Maya."
