Chapter 177: Return to the present
Reylin and others heavily dropped onto the ground.
That ground belonged to Changnam's Mana Vault. It was a cold and clearly abandoned place that even reeked off with a disgusting smell.
The sound of it slowly crumbling assailed Reylin. Promptly standing up, he looked out for Emilia, his brother, and others, "You okay?"
"Yes," all replied similarly and confirmed their status.
No one sustained any damage due to that abrupt return to the present. That was like half of Reylin's burden falling off his heart.
The second half was due to the butterfly effect.
He would gladly talk about it with his close ones, but that was currently impossible due to the place they had landed in.
Changnam's Mana Vault was on the verge of destruction. A few hard steps would make one fall into a bottomless pit! Those breaking walls, floor, and ceiling left many vigilant and all naturally waited for Reylin's Crimson Dragon to spread its wings.
"That fucker used all gathered mana here," Reylin cursed while his Crimson Dragon took its peak form around them.
All saddled on its back while Reylin strutted toward the head. He lay on one of the horns with Emilia close to him. The scenery changed as his companion announced its return to the Crown Continent.
Crown Liam noticed Reylin's expression, and he brought out what Emilia had been waiting to talk about, "Butterfly Effect... We have surely changed something about our future... It's not our fault, though."
"It's that fat fuck!" Emilia raised her voice, trashing Changnam, then calmed down... "Aren't there countless future timelines? What if we just learned about the Faynom World's past, and we just returned to our timeline where nothing changed?"
Reylin and Liam doubted it.
However, they came from Earth. Magic, mana, and any other supernatural stuff were just science fiction in their world. They didn't know how that worked, and it was just theory based on logic.
Logic often didn't have any say in fantasy worlds, though.
Reylin sighed.
His brother pushed his glasses, "I know you hate Changnam the most, Reylin. We should leave him for later. It's to confirm how much has changed in the future, but more importantly, Sin Of Pride, Superbia.
That existence and the ascended's haughtiness can not be coincidence..." Liam deducted.
Reylin narrowed his eyes, "We don't know them all... Changnam was prideful from the beginning, but Milkyona... If they were already haughty and our meeting with Superbia added more hubris to their heart, then..."
"It is possible that his meeting was already decided in the past," Crown Liam smiled oddly, then laughed, "There are so many possible theories that it's pointless to dwell on them. We should focus on Milkyona first.
Now that we have a few items from the past, we can bring back teleports and find our enemies on different continents. King Julian and Milkyona, I believe that who we should aim for," he concluded his thoughts.
Reylin didn't need more explanation.
He was the one who'd helped Milkyona. Their fire mana had joined together in the past! That was precisely why Crown Liam wanted his brother to test the waters with her. Perhaps, that past encounter would make her remember the sudden help and take her to their side.
Reylin had already told Milkyona that he would make her his bitch. Those were naturally ambiguous words.
The depths of the Nerven Race were unknown, but the ascended more or less had already been outlined by Reylin...
Alas, the sudden meeting with Superbia added more mysteriousness to those ascended.
"The priority is to get teleports back," Reylin said, "We also deserve a break, so good job, and see you later."
"Yes," Everyone agreed with the Crimson Dragon.
After seeing Superbia and feeling his prideful mana, everyone needed to rest for some time before returning to their challenging lives. They all would meet more similar existences to that man, so all had to take a challenge and continue getting stronger.
Crimson Dragon finally returned to the capital.
All citizens cheered again, expecting great news to soon reach their ears as they all believed in their king's success.
Players were naturally curious about Reylin's progress.
Alas, he promptly refused all.
Reylin's priority was to see Layla. His other girlfriend, Emilia, understood it, so she was just fine with a goodbye kiss. Although the lone bed was no good for the ladies in a relationship, the harem had cons and pros.
"Welcome back," Two ladies replied to him after he'd stepped into Layla's room.
One of them was Layla, while the other was Reylin's mother. She was so invested in Layla and her grandchild that she spent days in the game.
Her husband forcefully brought her back to Earth just so she could spend a little time here and have a rewarding sleep.
Reylin smiled widely at them, "I am back."
He greeted his mother with a warm hug, then sat down next to his girlfriend. Embracing Layla tightly, Reylin brought his ear to her belly, then languorously closed his eyes. In a few seconds, he just went to sleep.
Alas, a kick from within the belly awakened Reylin, "How petty." He rolled his eyes, then turned away, sulking on the bed with his eyes closed.
His mother read his expression well and laughed out loud, "You were away for quite a long time... What happened this time?"
She shifted the topic and asked about the recent event.
Reylin sighed and replied while Layla caressed his hair, "We were sent to the past by one of the ascended. We found shocking truths and news, but I am not sure what is real and what is not.
The future will tell," he closed his eyes and went to sleep yet again.
This time, no one woke him up.
Eva decided that it was also a good time to log out.
She left the couple alone.
Once Eva logged out, Layla comfortably laid herself on the bed as well. She hugged Reylin from behind and closed her eyes.
All slept sound and healthy before upcoming events.
"Good work, Reylin," Layla whispered through her sleep.
