Chapter 31

Sun Tian trembled with anger but couldn’t find words to refute because she had already calmed down. Even though Shen Qingyue was a discarded wife of a prominent family, she was still the legitimate granddaughter of the Shen Corporation. Being watched by so many people, she felt a bit panicked.

Seeing her silence, Chi Ming had no intention of letting her go. “Everyone knows what kind of person you and your husband are. Why embarrass yourselves in public? The Sun family is involved in public relations and holds a prominent position. They shouldn’t be lacking in intelligence. I hope you won’t ruin everything with your actions!”

With that, he took Shen Qingyue’s hand and walked away.

Being pointed at and talked about by others, Sun Tian felt her face losing its luster. Especially when she thought about the potential consequences her words could have on the Sun family’s public relations company, her father and elder brother would definitely punish her severely! Just the fact that the Sun family arranged for her to marry Zhu Shao indicated that she held no status within her own family. Thinking about this, she could not bear to stay any longer and hurriedly ran out of the banquet hall.

When Shen Qingyue turned around, she saw Qin Zhen standing by her side, not knowing when he had arrived, coldly observing the situation like everyone else.

With just one glance, Shen Qingyue shifted her gaze away, and Chi Ming led her by the hand to the open balcony. The slight warmth from his hand spread from her palm all the way to her heart.

Chi Ming let go of her hand. “Are you alright?”

She had to admit that this person was quite intimidating when he didn’t smile. Mostly because he had never appeared like this before, or rather, she had forgotten about it amidst the complexities of their past lives, almost as if it had been erased from her memory.

Shen Qingyue shrugged her shoulders. “I’m fine. If you hadn’t come over, I could have said a few more hurtful things to her.”

Chi Ming chuckled lightly. “Then I would have been in your way.”

She pretended to snort. “Good to know.”

Chi Ming approached her, and they were standing very close. As she looked up, she bumped into his embrace. His dark, calm eyes gazed at her, smiling as always.

Shen Qingyue was almost blinded by his smile. How come she had not noticed before that Chi Ming was so charming when he smiled?

Chi Ming’s low laughter spread in her ears. “What? Have I captivated you?”

Shen Qingyue snapped out of it, no longer flustered. “I’ve seen you since childhood; I’ve long been tired of it.”

It was truly a pity. She had almost been deceived by his beauty.

As she took a step back, Chi Ming took a step forward, embracing her delicate waist and leaning close to her ear with a husky, ambiguous voice. “You used me to make your ex-husband jealous. Don’t you find it a pity? I think we can try to go a step further.”

Shen Qingyue smiled. “Last time, didn’t you say it was your first time? Should I take responsibility for it? How about now? Are you sure you can satisfy me if we go further?”

Chi Ming sighed. “You are such a demanding woman.”

She pushed him away. “Let’s go inside; it’s getting cold outside.”

Chi Ming did not overly linger.

Qin Zhen watched the two of them enter, his expression dark and inscrutable.

Wei Jiu’er pulled him. “Zhen, why are you so absent-minded?”

“It’s nothing.” Qin Zhen shook his head, forcing himself to stop focusing on Shen Qingyue, but he could not calm down.

The banquet ended, and the driver parked the car at the hotel entrance.

Qin Zhen inadvertently caught sight of Chi Ming’s green Ferrari parked behind him. He felt that Chi Ming intentionally chose this color of car to irritate him. “Mr. Chi, can I have a word with you?”

Chi Ming asked Shen Qingyue to wait in the car and followed Qin Zhen to a corner. “Do you want to say something to me, President Qin? Is it about regretting divorcing Qingyue and wanting to warn me?”

Qin Zhen’s expression was not good, to say the least. Ever since Shen Qingyue caused a scene and requested a divorce, his expression hadn’t been pleasant. When he heard those words, he seemed to explode. “How could I regret it! That kind of woman, only you are blind enough to like her!”

However, as soon as the words left his mouth, he regretted it.

At the same time, Shen Qingyue’s cold voice sounded from behind. “I’m sorry for the inconvenience, President Qin. It’s truly humiliating for me, a woman like me, to have once been your wife.”

Qin Zhen turned around and met Shen Qingyue’s eyes which seemed to be covered in frost, momentarily unsure how to react.

Shen Qingyue coldly continued, “Please, President Qin, try to have some manners. The next time you speak ill of me, keep your distance.”

After speaking, she grabbed Chi Ming’s hand and left directly.

Qin Zhen’s fingers curled into his palm, and he remained silent.

Chi Ming turned back and said, “Since President Qin looks down on Qingyue so much, then please don’t interfere in her affairs. Just observe from a distance like you did in the banquet hall. That is where you belong! The position by Qingyue’s side will never be yours again. I hope you understand this clearly and don’t try to seek attention and annoy people.”

For now, she had refrained from dealing with the Qin family, but that did not mean she would not care anymore…

Qin Zhen watched the two of them, hand in hand, walking away. He clenched his fist and struck a nearby stone lion statue.
