Chapter 1432: The Hope of the Snow Maidens
The Ancient Dragon Empress was a little frustrated. She had only just progressed to the Dao Integration Stage not long ago and hadn’t even had a chance to celebrate when this adorable, snowball-like creature suddenly appeared before her and insisted that they walked the same path. At the same time, it begged for her to accept it as a beast pet or become its friend...
If it wasn’t for the fact that she couldn’t bear to hurt such an adorable creature, she would’ve beaten it to a pulp a long time ago!
“So you’re insisting on coming with me, is that it?” the Ancient Dragon Empress asked with a resigned expression.
“Of course! I made a promise to follow you, and I plan on sticking to it!” the little snow monster replied with an earnest expression.
That’s right, this adorable creature was none other than Xue Zhantian, who had left home as he had been drawn to the Holy Glacial Lands!
“Alright, then establish a beast pet contract with me.”
The Ancient Dragon Empress finally conceded.
Even though she wasn’t some princess who was into adorable things, it would still be pretty awesome to have an adorable beast pet like this.
Xue Zhantian immediately nodded in agreement.
All of a sudden, a scintillating man who looked as if he were going to crush the heavens beneath his feet suddenly appeared in his mind, and the image refused to go away.
That was the man he yearned for...
Even though he had not progressed to the Dao Integration Stage yet, he possessed the will of a man destined to crush the heavens, and Xue Zhantian had been completely entranced and intoxicated by him.
“Ah... Let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. I think we should start off as friends first. What do you think, Big Sister Dragon?” Xue Zhantian blinked his adorable eyes at the Ancient Dragon Empress.
A smile appeared on her face. “Whatever you say.”
It wasn’t a bad thing to have such an adorable creature accompany her on her long journey.
Tens of thousands of Dragon Tribe brethren trailed along behind her on their journey.
Not long after this, the Ancient Dragon Empress raised her head, and a smile appeared on her face as she looked on at the golden light orb in the distance. “We’re almost there.”
The place they were going to was the base of the Heaven Crushing Sect, the Land of Eternal Light!
In the Opposite Shore Realm.
An inky-black rift appeared in the sky.
A fair, slender hand then tore open the rift.
One figure after another began to emerge from within.
There were already hundreds of thousands of snow maidens gathered down below.
All of them bowed at the same time and yelled in unison, “The snow maidens pay their respects to Sect Leader An Lin, High Priestess Shangguan Yi, and the Celestial Thearch of the Kingdom of the Nine States!”
An Lin was given a fright by this lineup.
Shangguan Yi was wearing a calm smile in contrast, as if this was something she was already used to. “All rise. Sect Leader An Lin is our hope, so all of you have to abide by our agreement.”
Hundreds of thousands of snow maidens yelled in unison, “Yes!”
All of the snow maidens looked up at An Lin with scorching lights or curiosity in their eyes.
This was the first time An Lin had been at the center of attention for so many beauties, but he was able to maintain a calm and collected expression as he was already desensitized to this from being worshipped by all the beauties across the entire Divine Source Continent.
The Great Empress and the current High Priestess, Meng Zhi, had also arrived in person to welcome them.
Their expressions remained unchanged upon seeing the Celestial Thearch, and they soon focused all of their attention on An Lin.
The Great Empress wore a blue dress that accentuated her lithe and graceful figure, and she bowed deeply to An Lin with an apologetic expression. “I sincerely apologize for everything we have done to you in the past! If you still hold any resentment toward us, please feel free to come and find me after this ordeal.”
Meng Zhi was also looking at An Lin with a complex expression.
During the battle against the Vermilion Bird Sect, An Lin had foiled her plans on more than one occasion and had almost blasted her clothes into nothingness by manipulating her lightning and using it against her. During that battle against the Dark Sorcery Ghost in the Opposite Shore Realm, An Lin had helped her out, and she had also helped An Lin escape from the Great Empress. They had interacted with one another on more than one occasion, and they had been both enemies and also comrades at times.
Never would she have thought that this man would be able to grow so quickly and become the hope of all snow maidens so soon...
An Lin nodded. “I’ll settle my differences with you another time. However, I hope you can make all of your snow maidens swear the dao heart vows immediately.”
He couldn’t just make the important snow maidens concede. He had to make their entire race promise not to harm humans and listen to his every command before he could help them!
“Alright, I’ll do that right away,” the Great Empress replied without any hesitation.
There were over a hundred million snow maidens gathered here, but the Great Empress could issue a command to all of them at once, and it would take at most half a day to get all of them to swear their dao heart vows.
The Celestial Thearch was going to supervise the Great Empress during this process, while An Lin surveyed the snow maiden treasure vault with Shangguan Yi...
Of course, An Lin wasn’t going to appear too eager. He was just going to visit it as an afterthought.
That’s right; it was just an afterthought!
All of the snow maidens lived in ice houses. Even the imperial palace was carved from ice, and all of them were quite beautiful to behold.
An Lin felt as if he were walking through a world of snow and ice as he encountered all types of intricately beautiful and creative ice sculptures.
“We are all extremely proficient at building houses, and we built all of the houses here. Look at that palace. I live there, and it only took me ten days to create.” Shangguan Yi pointed at a pristine, white palace with a smile.
She seemed to have suddenly reverted back to her easygoing demeanor, giving An Lin a sense of deja vu, as if he were back at the Vermilion Bird Trial Grounds with her.
“All of these houses were constructed from ice. Don’t you feel cold living in them?” An Lin asked.
“Not at all. We feel a lot more comfortable in slightly colder temperatures. Here, feel my hand.” Shangguan Yi extended a slender hand toward An Lin.
An Lin gripped onto her hand with a curious expression to find that it was soft, smooth, and pleasantly cool to the touch.
“Snow maidens don’t fare well at all in heat, so we all like to live in ice houses,” Shangguan Yi elaborated.
An Lin felt like he was slowly learning more and more about the snow maidens.
They continued onward all the way to the imperial palace.
An Lin possessed the highest level of jurisdictive power among the snow maidens, so he could go wherever he wanted. As such, he was able to enter the imperial palace and survey it without encountering any impediment.
To his surprise, the place where the Great Empress lived was not as lavish as he thought it would be.
Everything was quite simple. The smooth floor, the simple ice accessories... The only thing worthy of note was an ice mural on the wall, which depicted the Ice Matriarch in battle.
The Ice Matriarch within the mural was extremely regal and beautiful, and she really bore some resemblance to Shangguan Yi.
Shangguan Yi seemed to be a little dazed as she looked at the woman in the mural.
An Lin and Shangguan Yi continued to stroll around and just so happened to stumbled upon the snow maidens’ treasure vault.
“Oh, what a coincidence. This is your treasure vault. I’m a bit curious about what you have in here,” An Lin said with a nonchalant expression.
“This is the place where we snow maidens keep our treasures. You can take anything you like from here.” Shangguan Yi did not hesitate in the slightest.
“Alright, let’s go have a look.” An Lin repressed the excitement in his heart and pushed open the door.
