Chapter 211: Only But a Facade of the TRUE Boss
Chapter 211: Only But a Facade of the TRUE Boss
"SCULK SURGE," the Warden bellowed, its voice echoing throughout the chamber as it launched a barrage of sculk beams at Stark, its sturdy arm taken over by the liquid as it repeatedly kept sending those small bursts at him.
~FWISH~
Of course, Stark easily avoided them by jumping to the sides, crouching or taking very smooth steps toward Warden.
"Foolish prisoner," on one hand, it had its 'Sculk Cannon' pointed at Stark, and on the other one it was carrying its hammer, extremely heavy, yet making it seem light it was nothing but dead weight.
"Flower Barrier," on the other hand, Sora just summoned her barrier as three giant white flowers, which looked like daisies, stopped all the sculk bursts whenever Warden decided to shoot her.
"Would love a little help," Stark rolled his eyes as he made a run for it and dashed at the warden when it was 'recharging' its sculk.
"CRIMSON SPEARS," he summoned three spears and immediately sent them toward the warden's torso, wanting to see if he could break the 'rib armor' that was protecting the three spheres.
But…
"Armor Sculkification," Warden calmly pointed its sculk arm toward its armor and shot, its torso now completely covered in the dark blue liquid.
And so when the spears reached it…
~SPLASH~
The spears didn't bounce off or anything of the sort, they were just absorbed into the sculk, as if they were nothing but rocks.
Stark frowned, quickly reassessing his strategy.
"HAMMER SLAM," Warden instantly grabbed its hammer again as it swung down at Stark who was pretty close.
"…!" Stark was ready to avoid and counter-attack.
But…
"VINE SURGE," vines came out of the ground under Warden and surrounded its arm, stopping its attack right as the hammer was about to hit Stark (well not really since he was going to avoid).
"Oh?" Warden lifted his eyebrows, "Your little friend seems to have finally decided to join the party…"
Surprisingly, Warden could hold decent conversations with humans, much like the 'Godless Demon' apostles such as Sierra and Judicator.
Was it because he was extremely strong? Because he was the warden? Or because he was the final boss of the trial?
The Mirror Master back at the first trial could also speak after all…
"VINE SURGE… MAX RESTRAIN," Sora closed her hand into a fist as it glowed a deep green color, and more vines came out of the ground, now not only restraining Warden's arm, but also his legs and torso.
"YOU THINK THIS IS ENOUGH TO HARM ME?" yet, Warden flexed his muscles, and the vines slowly began to break.
Sora wasn't bothered though as her eyes glowed a deep fire and then… "Radiance."
~FIRE, FWISH~
All the vines around Warden suddenly burst into flames, the intense heat emanating from them making the air around him feel like a furnace.
Sora when casting spells was always calm and composed, every one of her actions calculated to allow herself to win.
And it seemed to work…
"-4218! -4382! -3903!" it took a few seconds for Warden to remove all the vines as he aggressively moved around, his pitch-black eyes burning and leaving a trail behind, and his sharp mouth contorted into one of a beast in rage.
And by the end of that struggle…
"-49028!" she dealt extremely good damage to the Warden.
"Foolish…" but he didn't even look that bothered after receiving around 100000 points of its health.
"AURA SMASH!" Stark immediately summoned the three crimson fists and sent them at Warden while he was busy trying to attack Sora.
~BOOM, BOOM, BOOM~
All three hit him and made him falter slightly, having a hard time holding his own hammer.
"-14827! -15282! -15029!" his armor protected him from most of the damage, but there was no denying it was still there.
And in addition to that…
[Warden has been stunned]
He could actually get stunned by the attacks, unlike most of the other monsters and bosses.
Frankly… Warden looked like a joke currently.
He was not using his skills, he was slow, dumb, and couldn't do anything but take the damage the humans gave him.
"Elements of Natures; Pollen Bombs," Sora calmly closed her eyes and put her hands together once [Flower Analysis] informed her that Warden was stunned.
[Elements of Natures] allowed her to make five different flowers come out of the ground: a sunflower, a tulip, an iris, a poppy and a lily.
Each of the flowers bloomed completely in mere instants and were extremely big, the size of an average human.
~FWISH~
They were all pointed at Warden, who couldn't move his body.
And… some sort of energy balls were beginning to form in the middle of the flowers, powered up by their petals.
The energy balls grew more and more, until eventually reaching half the size of that flower.
And right afterward…
~BOOM, BOOM, BOOM~
All of these balls, linked to their respective flowers in colors, were shot at the warden.
Safe to say, all of them hit.
~BOOOOOOM~
"-32819! 37271! -34383! -38992! -36605!"
Blinded by the explosions, the warden was finally able to move, its body suffering from all these attacks.
But right as it was ready to rush at Sora…
"Pollen Bombs," a giant flower came out of the ground and positioned itself in front of Sora hands, which were joined.
~SHAKE~
The flower shook, and three small white balls fell from it before it disappeared back into the ground.
"DIE, PRISONER," it really seemed to be enraged.
"Phew~" but Sora just blew on her hand to make the three small pollen balls slowly float toward the warden.
And once they touched him… they revealed themselves to be everything but small.
~BOOM, BOOM, BOOM~
They exploded, creating a massive explosion that yet again stopped the warden in his run.
"-53729! -51033! -49887!"
[Warden HP: 162743/640000]
This is not normal.
None of this was normal.
'This doesn't make sense…' Stark could have continued the combo with Sora, but he didn't, the vortex in his eyes intensifying as he looked at the pitiful warden, who kneeled down after the explosions, unable to keep holding its hammer, "NONE OF THIS MAKES SENSE…"
Sora was emotionless, so she didn't feel anything when attacking the warden, only thinking that she was just dominating him.
Not once in her mind did she think that it was weird that THE boss of THE second trial would be this weak.
Yes, he could proudly say it: that thing was super weak, no matter how much you thought about it.
It was already down in four attacks? IMPOSSIBLE!
Sora was strong, probably just as strong as Stark, there was no denying it, and he also needed her if he wanted to kill it.
But… this warden wasn't normal.
Stark felt like… everything it showed until now was but a facade: its attacks, expressions, actions, everything was just to make them lower their guard.
After all… he was the final boss of the trial…
Stark had a bad feeling, that same feeling he always had when something was amiss.
That same feeling you get… when you know that death is coming.
Warden was currently on the ground, his hammer down and his head looking at the ground, black liquid oozing from the opening of his helmet.
"The Flaming Rose," Sora got ready to end this battle once and for all as she charged up her [Legendary] skill, unaware of what was coming as she couldn't sense emotions.
But right at that moment… the warden's eyes, which were completely dark until now, suddenly grew yellow pupils.
The TRUE 'Warden' would now appear.
The TRUE boss of this trial.
"Well, well, I had enough fun with you all," it lifted its arm with an emotionless voice, leaving out all its rage as if it never existed.
And suddenly… a metal chain enveloped in sculk came out from the ceiling behind Sora, rushing toward her neck.
