Chapter 48 - The Circumstances of a Trivial Villain (10)
The Circumstances of a Trivial Villain (10)
The words he uttered at my face, telling me to speak quickly, were absurd.
“…Be careful.”
“What, careful of Reid? Or the managers with all the black magic which they don’t even have anymore?”
If you were going to say something useless like this, then why did you call me?
I was sarcastic about my temper and went on my way, but at the end, I thought that I was grateful that I did my hair so quickly, so I decided to give him a proper answer.
“The fight I’ll lose…”
I glanced into his red eyes and muttered to myself involuntarily.
“… Will only be with you.”
Somehow, I lost my self-esteem.
Although I always lost, it was the first time I admitted that fact in front of him.
I quickly ran away without seeing his expression.
As I walked down the lavish hallways that I had followed behind Morriett, I could feel the heat rising on my ears.
I had never been told to be careful my whole life, and I had only heard it a few times today.
From my first real family and my old nemesis…
The hope that my life, which was only to be a trivial villain, would change, made my heart flutter.
When I went back to the auction house, it was already in a state of chaos.
Guards called by Robert stormed the scene and were arresting people.
In fact, all the managers, who were the strength of this black market, were defeated, so even the guards, who were not very strong, were able to suppress them.
“Sister!”
In the midst of the chaos, Aaron grabbed a man in a manager’s suit and called me.
“I didn’t catch Morriett, but I got this one!”
“Ah, Anna-Annabelle…”.
Reid, dressed in manager’s clothes, was half insane, like Morriett.
Unlike the other managers who immediately collapsed, his consciousness seemed to go back and forth.
Perhaps it was because he had only been engulfed by black magic for a few hours.
“Hehehe… I’m glad you’re not really my sister…”
He smiled with out-of-focus eyes.
“If you were my real sister, wouldn’t mother have given me all of that legacy? Hee hee…”
I grabbed Reid by the neck and swung my fist.
I had been wanting to hit him like this for a long time, but I had endured it because we were blood related.
Reid’s body flew away helplessly and crashed into the wall.
“Uh-huh… Why all of a sudden in the head…? Everything was going well…”
It was when I strode over and tried to kick him again.
“Miss Annabelle.”
Suddenly someone grabbed my arm. Now it was Robert completely unmasked.
I noticed that he had come in front of Room 2 earlier, and thought he would pass by, but it was an unexpected appearance.
“I know you’re angry, but listen to me for a moment.”
“Yes, Prince.”
I politely replied.
“But I will kick that human jaw once and then listen to the prince.”
“No, just in case, I’m intervening now.”
Robert gently comforted me.
“I found a list of managers, and Reid Nadit, who was assigned to Room 2, was the newest person who had been hired a few hours ago. There is no manager here who can speak this much because the black magic escaped and they all collapsed.”
“Right.”
I replied calmly.
“Believing that this idiot is your best friend…”
From the looks of it, it seemed that Reid was the only one who thought of Morriett as a true friend.
As soon as Reid came with the money alone, Morriett used black magic to make him a manager and put him in Room 2.
Reid had to end up getting a true education like a trivial villain.
“Perhaps all the black magic couldn’t take over, and after it escaped, only a small fragment of the soul remained. I don’t know if it will disappear soon though… We must interrogate him quickly.”
Robert took off my mask himself and said politely.
“Miss Annabelle, I beg you.”
“Give me a few minutes to ask this guy a question.”
For a moment, our eyes met each other.
I stared intently at Robert, sighed, and stepped back.
“If it was an order, I wouldn’t have listened to it.”
“Thank you very much, Miss Annabelle Rainfield.” (pr/n: aww he used her new name)
Robert smiled broadly and politely thanked me.
If he had ordered by force, I was going to pretend I was really out of my mind and hit Reid more.
After all, he cannot be unpunished for being the number one contributor to this situation.
“No. I always owed the prince for allowing the paternity test so quickly. So you don’t have to thank me.”
I folded my arms and stepped back, watching Reid being interrogated by Robert.
“So… Hee hee, Morriett took people to his room when he saw guys that looked better than him. And he grabbed the mirror and muttered something.”
Reid gave him an answer every time Robert asked him something, but Robert didn’t find any particularly useful information.
Because Morriett didn’t tell Reid the big secret.
“And if they looked better than him, he would take their conscience and make them his manager.”
I thought to myself that the mirror worked very hard here too.
In <Snow White>, there was only one woman who was more beautiful than the queen, Snow White, so it mentioned only one, but there were too many of them here.
So, ‘who is the prettiest woman in the world’ became ‘who is the most handsome person in this room’.
‘The scope… is pretty narrow.’
“Miss Annabelle.”
Robert spoke to me again, perhaps tired of the list of pointless information.
“What are you going to do with this person?”
Aaron and I answered immediately without hesitation.
“Finish him.”
Robert blinked for a moment at our answer and then made a soft suggestion.
“Isn’t it a waste to finish it all at once?”
I narrowed my eyes and smiled.
I thought that Robert had taken off his mask for a moment.
Aaron frowned and asked for me.
“Then how should we take revenge that is worth it and is effective?”
“Leave it to me.”
Robert answered immediately.
“I can leave it to the Imperial Palace Secret Investigation Unit as the only collaborator who can provide some information. Then he will suffer tremendously, both mentally and physically. He can’t even die.”
That was when.
Reid’s body, which had been nailed to the wall, drooped.
“Huh?”
Aaron hurriedly approached him and checked it out, and he said absurdly.
“Is he already dead?”
So Reid was dying just like the other managers.
Robert was genuinely embarrassed and he was at a loss for what to do.
“Uh… Miss Annabelle? I don’t know for sure, but you came here for a purpose in the first place, right?”
“That’s right.”
I had never seen him panic like that.
He was a calculating man in all things, so this might be embarrassing.
But it was unavoidable anyway, so I sighed and said.
“It’s okay though. It’s a request I’m going to grant.”
“Ha, but…”
“He was brainwashed, hung up on the wall and died.”
I didn’t have to be here anymore.
“No, I’m sorry, what should I do? Miss Annabelle worked hard to get here…”
“That’s okay. Even an empty tower will fall. That’s the way life is.”
“But I tried, and things went awry. That’s the only way it’s worth the effort.”
I did not have enough energy to get angry, so I answered calmly.
“Then we’ll see you soon, Prince.”
And after paying my respects to Robert, I turned around without any regrets.
“Let’s go, Aaron. I have to eat dinner.”
“Yes.”
Aaron immediately followed after me.
“Did father wake up? I would like to ask him to cook shrimp.”
It was the first time I experienced going home with someone.
While I was walking, I heard a voice behind me.
“I will repay you soon, Miss Annabelle. I Promise.” (pr/n: 1 need Robert to make lan jealous pleaseee)
Suddenly, for the first time, I felt the sincerity of Robert’s words.
It was not that he smiled seductively when he saw me, nor did he talk to me affectionately.
For some reason, I had a feeling that he was really being sincere.
(3rd person pov)
So, the store was completely revealed to the outside world under Robert’s investigation.
As soon as Robert received the signal from lan, he sent other men to gather all the capital guards and let them in.
All those who were under the influence of black magic had already fallen, so it was very easy to subdue them.
Numerous people who came were arrested as current offenders, and a huge amount of money confiscated at the scene was also returned to the national treasury.
And the fact that lan and Annabelle had done a great job in subjugating the evil began to spread throughout the capital.
People were not particularly surprised by lan’s good deeds, but they were very surprised by Annabelle’s righteous deeds.
